Kurzfassung: For the first time, the nanoflower-like zinc borate compound was obtained by precipitation at room temperature using zinc oxide nanoparticles as a precursor. The obtained zinc borates were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Raman spectroscopy analysis. Monoclinic of zinc borate 2ZnO. 3B 2 O 3 .3.5H 2 O was achieved under the XRD pattern and the elemental chemical analysis. The particle size of the obtained materials is approximately 5 nm using TEM analysis. The TGA shows that the achieved zinc borate is outstanding stable at high temperatures. The result of this work provides a new route for the fabrication of zinc borate nanoparticle, which could be widely used in many applications.

Kurzfassung: This work aimed to investigate the efficient reduction of methylene blue (MB) by a heterogeneous magnetic nanoparticles/copper (MNs/Cu) Fenton-like catalyst. The MNs/Cu was successfully synthesized in the presence of Citrus aurantifolia extract. The characterizations showed an effective fabrication of Cu onto the surface of MNs. The reduction of MB by the MNs/Cu Fenton-like catalyst presented an efficiency of 99.5% at the optimum conditions, including MNs/Cu dose of 0.1 mg, temperature of 25°C, contact time of 75 min, pH 4.0, and 20 mL H 2 O 2 30%, MB initial concentration of 25 mg/L. The reduction kinetics was well fitted to pseudo-second-order with reaction rate constant of 0.0029 g/mg.min. The main mechanism of the MB reduction due to active oxygen species was pointed out. The decrease of reduction yield at high pH, catalyst dose and MB concentration was elucidated in this study.

Kurzfassung: In Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), benzene concentration was higher than the benzene standard of Vietnam technical regulation for ambient air. However, there is a lack of consideration for benzene sources and mitigation suggestions. This study aims (1) to analyze benzene concentration in HCMC and (2) to calculate benzene emission from primary sources to identify the contribution of benzene from the main sources. Besides, we gave measures to reduce benzene pollution. Our case study is in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. Firstly, we analyzed benzene concentration data from the Department of Environment and Resources. The data included 30 sampling locations in Ho Chi Minh City from familiar pollution sources: traffic (19 locations), industry (4 locations), resident areas (4 locations), and ambient regions (3 locations). Secondly, we used benzene emission results to identify the primary sources. Thirdly, we suggested mitigation measures to reduce the benzene concentration in HCMC. Compared to the National technical regulation of hazardous substances in the ambient air of Vietnam (QCVN 06:2009/BTNMT), the benzene concentration exceeded the Vietnamese standard. Significantly, the traffic had the highest contribution, up to 90% of total benzene emission, followed by industry and residential activity. Our findings gave a comprehensive picture of benzene pollution and the contribution of primary sources. We also suggested ten solutions to reduce benzene concentration in HCMC.The results can help the local government’s decision to focus to the significant sources and reduce the benzene pollution in HCMC.

Kurzfassung: Anthocyanins are naturally occurring compounds that are responsible for a wide variety of colors in many plants, fruits and vegetables. In this study, the extraction of natural anthocyanins from Vietnamese Carissa carandas L. beverage was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). We applied a Box–Behnken design consisting of three levels and three factors. Examined factors are extraction temperature (ranging from 40 to 60°C), liquid to solid ratio (ranging from 2:1 to 4:1), extraction time (ranging from 30 to 60 min). Using 60% ethanol as solvent for the process, we determined the maximum yields of anthocyanin was 273.786 mg/L. This yield corresponds to extraction conditions of 3:1 (v/w) liquid to solid ratio, temperature of 48.10 °C with a 44.08 min extraction time. The experimental results also fit well with the proposed response model of anthocyanin yield (R 2 = 0.9992). Therefore, this study suggested optimization of different extraction methods for the defatted fruit parts.

Kurzfassung: This work is motivated by the recent fabrication of a new four-atom-thick hexagonal polymorph from group IV monochalcogenide, so-called γ -GeSe (Lee et al 2021 Nano Lett. 21 4305). In this paper, we propose and examine the structural characteristics, electronic properties, and carrier mobility of monolayers Janus γ -Ge 2 XY ( X / Y = S, Se, or Te) based on comprehensive first-principles calculations. Monolayers γ -Ge 2 XY are confirmed to be structurally stable. Our calculations reveal that γ -Ge 2 XY monolayers are indirect semiconductors with Mexican-hat-like dispersions in the top valence band. While the effect of the electric field on the energy band dispersions of γ -Ge 2 XY monolayers is weak, the energy band dispersions are changed drastically in the presence of strain, especially compressive strain. Interestingly, a structural phase transition from semiconductor to metal is observed in γ -Ge 2 XY under compressive strain. γ -Ge 2 STe and γ -Ge 2 SeTe possess high electron mobility with values of 3.22 × 10 3 and 8.33 × 10 3 cm 2  V −1  s −1 , respectively. Our findings not only explore the fundamental physical properties of γ -Ge 2 XY but also open up new opportunities in the design of high-performance electronic nanodevices based on layered nanomaterials with Mexican-hat-like dispersions.

Kurzfassung: In this study, a thin film of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI 3 ) was employed as the switching layer in the metal/MAPbI 3 /FTO devices. Two metals, Ag and Cr, were used as active and inert top electrodes to govern the hysteresis effect of memory devices, respectively. While the Cr/MAPbI 3 /FTO device displayed an analog resistive switching (RS) behavior and a comparatively low ON/OFF ratio of 10, the Ag/MAPbI 3 /FTO structure displayed digital bipolar RS and a high ON/OFF ratio of 10 2 . The density functional theory simulations suggest that these various behaviors may be caused by variations in the mutual interaction between the iodine vacancy defect and the metal contact properties. The SET process involved switching both devices from a high-resistance state to a low-resistance one using the space charge-limited current mechanism. In the RESET process, the Ag-electrode device is allocated the Poole–Frenkel emission mechanism, and the Cr-electrode device is followed the Fowler–Nordheim tunneling mechanism. The formation and dissociation of iodine vacancy filaments via the dielectric layer were identified as the RS mechanism in both devices. The findings show that organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite has a strong potential for data storage.

Kurzfassung: Two-dimensional Janus monolayers have outstanding electronic and transport properties due to their asymmetric atomic structures. In the present work, we systematically study the structural, electronic, and transport properties of the Janus GaIn X 2 ( X = S, Se, Te) monolayers by using the first-principles calculations. The stability of the investigated monolayers is confirmed via the analysis of vibrational spectrum and molecular dynamics simulations. Our calculations demonstrate that while GaInS 2 and GaInSe 2 monolayers are direct semiconductors, GaInTe 2 monolayer exhibits the characteristics of an indirect semiconductor. The band gap of GaIn X 2 decreases when the chalcogen element X varies from S to Te. Obtained results reveal that small spin–orbit splitting energy in the valence band is found around the Γ point of the Brillouin zone when the spin–orbit coupling is included. Interestingly, GaInS 2 and GaInSe 2 have high and directional isotropic electron mobility meanwhile the directional anisotropy of the electron mobility is found in the Janus GaInTe 2 monolayer. Our findings not only present superior physical properties of GaIn X 2 monolayers but also show promising potential applications of these materials in nanoelectronic devices.

Kurzfassung: The high amplification ratio, high frequency, and larger workspace always ask in compliant mechanisms. Thus, in this investigation optimized design dimension to select an optimal model for a tensural displacement amplifier employing flexure hinge by utilizing Taguchi method based on finite element analysis (FEA). The Solidworks software was applied to design the model, the first modal shape frequency was gained by FEA in ANSYS. The orthogonal L 27 was applied to design 27 experiments. The data was collected from 27 cases which were analyzed by signal to noise, ANOVA and regression analysis (RA). The simulation results indicated that thickness of flexure hinge (TOFH) made significant increasing the 1 st natural frequency when its rises from 0.3 mm to 0.7 mm and decreased as incline angle between two flexure hinges rises from 0 0 to 0.5 0 . The phenomena also confirmed by S/N analysis, ANOVA and RA. The optimal value of the frequency obtained 214.06 Hz is good agreement with the forecasted value of 198.1758 Hz with deviation error of 7.15%.
