Kurzfassung:
To investigate the influence of the magnetic material and magnetic properties of the
underlayer on double-layered tape output, we fabricated magnetic/magnetic double-coated metal particulate (MP) tapes with two different underlayer materials: aciculate iron (Fe)
metal powder and plane barium ferrite (Ba-ferrite) powder. The aciculate Fe underlayer does not enhance the output, however the plane Ba-ferrite underlayer does, depending on
the perpendicular orientation of the underlayer. A more high-density medium can be obtained using a Ba-ferrite powder oriented perpendicular to the magnetic underlayer.
