Abstract: Introduction: Currently, Vietnam is entering the aging population stage and is one of the fastest aging countries worldwide. Old age increases the risk of chronic diseases, particularly mental health disorders. Objective: investigated the prevalence of depression and examined the associated factors with depression among older people. Methods: A cross-sectional study was implemented in 760 older people in some communities of Thua Thien Hue province from January to August 2020. Data were collected by directinterviewing based on a structured questionnaire, including demographic, socio-economic, geriatric Depression scale with 30 questions (GDS-30), health status and physical activities. The GDS-30 was used to evaluate the prevalence of depression. The multiple logistic regression model was applied to exam the associated factors with depression. Results: Our findings indicated that the prevalence of depression among elderly people was 28.6%, comprising mild (23.6%) and seveve (5%). The higher Odds of depression was observed in the low economic status (poor/near-poor) (OR= 2.51; 95% CI: 1.15 – 5.48), live alone (OR= 2.43; 95% CI: 1.02-5.78), co-morbidities chronic disease(OR =1,59; 95% CI: 1.01 – 2.52), self-evaluation not good in overall health status (OR =2.34; 95% CI: 1,50 – 3,66), dissatisfaction in health (OR = 2.55; 95% CI:1.59 – 4.08), lack of physical activities (OR =2.79; 95% CI: 1.83 - 4.27), and low quality of life (OR = 2.79; 95% CI: 1.84-4.24). Conclusions: This research suggests that older people are commonly exposing to depression in the communities. Therefore, the priority strategies for reducing depression should be implemented, particularly in the high-risk groups.

Abstract: Aim: To evaluated the feasibility and initial outcomes application of laparoscopic rectocolectomy with specimen retrieval through natural orifices specimen extraction (N.O.S.E). Material and Method: Prospective, retrospective study in 20 patients were diagnosted sigmoid and rectal cancer and underwent laparoscopic anterior resection, low anterior resection with specimen retrieval through natural orifices specimen extraction (N.O.S.E) at Hue Central Hospital from 2011 to 2013. Results: All cases were successfully performed by laparoscopy. There was no complications during and after operation. Patients felt less pain, had early bowel movement and early discharge from hospital. Conclusions:Our initial experiences showed that laparoscopic surgery with specimen retrieval through natural orifices is feasible. It has full advantages of laparoscopic colectomy otherwise, it prevents an abdominal incision for specimen retrieval. Patient has less pain and short hospitalization. There will be a need for a larger cases study with longer follow-up time to further evaluate the outcome of this method, espencially in oncology. Keywords: colorectal laparoscopic surgery, specimen retrieval transanal.

Abstract: Purpose: To evaluate results from treatment of concomitant gallstones and common bile duct (CBD) stones by ERCP and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Analysis of single-step or separated-step characteristics. Object: During the 3 years (2015-2017), 285 patients CBD stones concomitant or not gallstones underwent ERCP, 68 patients concomitant gallstones and CBD suitable criteria for inclusion at Hue Central Hospital. Retrospective clinical descriptive study. Results: Average age 52.2±12.5 (24-90), male/female ratio of 0.7/1 (27/41). Abdominal pain was the most common symptom 91.2%, jaundice 51.5%, direct bilirubin increased 27.3±15.6μmol/l (2.2-165). The diameter of CBD stone is 12.4±3.2mm (6-20), gallstones size 11.3±6.2mm (536). The first time CBD stones 95.6%, recurrence CBD stones 4.4%. ERCP and laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) 34patients, ERCP 1.4±2.5times and secondary LC. Single-step ductal clearance 76.5%, separatestep ductal clearance 94.1% (p=0.041). Length of hospital stay 6.5±4.3days and 13.6±2.2days (p 〈 0.0001). Conclusions: The percentage of ductal clearance in the separate-step patients group was higher than that single-step patients group with p=0.041. The indication of cholecystectomy immediately endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography should be based on the patient status, the ductal clearance as well as the complications. Abstract: Background: The purpose of the study was to prepare acetylated wheat starches which have amylase hydrolysis resistant capacity to use as functional food supporting for diabetes treatment. Method: Acetate wheat starches were prepared by acetylation reaction of native wheat starch with different mole ratios of acetic anhydride. These starches were determined for the physicochemical properties by 1H-NMR, SEM, X-ray, DSC, solubility and swelling capacity, the resistant capacity by amylase hydrolysis in-vitro. Results: Acetate wheat starches were prepared successfully with the increase in acetyl content and degree of substitution corresponding with the increase of anhydride acetic, which resulted in the change of physicochemical properties of the wheat starches, including constitution, solubility, swelling capacity and contributed to the increase in resistant starch content in the acetate wheat starches. The AC150-9 containing 2.42% acetyl with degree of substitution 0,094 and resistant starch 32,11% is acceptable by FDA guideline about food safety. Conclusion: Acetate wheat starches contain low rate of digestive starch, while containing a higher proportion of resistant starch than natural wheat starch, possessing a high resistance to amylase activities. Thus, it is hope that this kind of starch to control the rapid increase of postprandual blood glucose response for diabetes treatments effectively. Key words: Acetate wheat starch, substitution, DS, RS, amylase

Abstract: Generic drugs have an important role in ensuring the efficacy, safety, and especially the economic aspect of drug use. A generic drug is a pharmaceutical product, usually intended to be interchangeable with an innovator product manufactured without a licence from the innovator company and marketed after the expiry date of the patent or other exclusive rights. At present, unlikely FDA’s regulations, Vietnam’s law does not require all generic drugs launching in the market to prove the bioequivalence, the same efficient and safe as innovator drugs. Because of the rapid growth of the domestic pharmaceutical market, the standard and quality of generic drugs compared with innovator drugs have to be consolidated and proved through trials of bioequivalence, then building the faith of professionals and patients in using generic drugs. Thus the expansion of number and improving quality of the bioequivalence assessment centers become an important task of Vietnam pharmaceutical industry in the context of integration with the global pharmaceutical industry. Key words: generic drugs, innovator drugs, patent, bioequivalence, treatment.
