Abstract: This paper aims to study the dynamics of new HIV (the human immunodeficiency virus) models with switching nonlinear incidence functions and pulse control. Nonlinear incidence functions are first assumed to be time-varying functions and switching functional forms in time, which have more realistic significance to model infectious disease models. New threshold conditions with the periodic switching term are obtained to guarantee eradication of the disease, by using the novel type of common Lyapunov function. Furthermore, pulse vaccination is applied to the above model, and new sufficient conditions for the eradication of the disease are presented in terms of the pulse effect and the switching effect. Finally, several numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed results, and future directions are put forward.

Abstract: This paper mainly studies the threshold dynamics of new multicity HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) epidemic models with switching parameters and pulse control. The model’s parameters are assumed to be time-varying functions and switching functional forms in time due to seasonal changes. And the susceptible population is assumed to become infected via shared injections or sexual contacts with infected individuals and pre-AIDS patients (following infection with HIV but before the full development of acquired immune deficiency syndrome). New threshold conditions are established to ensure the extinction of the disease by using Razumikhin-type approach. Pulse control strategies are then applied to the multicity epidemic model and analyzed to guarantee their success in eradicating the disease. Numerical examples are performed to support the analytical results.

Abstract: Si 3 N 4 nanowires and nanocrystals were prepared on Si substrates with or without Fe catalyst using silane ( SiH 4 ) and nitrogen ( N 2 ) as reactive gases through plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technology. With Fe catalyst, Si 3 N 4 nanowires were developed, indicating that Fe catalyst played a role for Si 3 N 4 molecules directionally depositing into strings. The density of the nanowires is closely related to the density of Fe catalyst. When the density of Fe ions on the substrate was decreased remarkably, a smooth superlong Si 3 N 4 nanowire with 12  μ m in length was fabricated. Having analyzed the growth mechanism, a growth model for Si 3 N 4 nanowires was developed. The growth of Si 3 N 4 nanocrystallines was attributed to be a vapor-solid (V-S) deposition process.

Abstract: Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and uniaxially oriented polypropylene (UOPP) films were annealed. The effect of annealing temperature (Ta) on dielectric strength was studied. The electric breakdown strength (Eb) of BOPP and UOPP films changes in a quite different trend with the annealing process. Eb of BOPP films decreases with the increase in Ta, whereas Eb of UOPP films increases first and then decreases with Ta. The structural changes during annealing were investigated. The crystallinity rises with Ta, while the orientation degree and Eb show a similar trend with Ta. Although the crystallinity and crystal structure can affect Eb of polypropylene films, the orientation of chain segments has a much larger correlation with Eb. Our results indicate that the deterioration of the metallized BOPP film capacitor may originate from the orientation degree decrease of chain segments after experiencing high temperature.
