Abstract: Theoretical research and specific surface area analysis of nitrogen adsorption indicated that a lot of structural micropores exist in sepiolite minerals fibers. However, the microporous size, existing form, and the distribution relationship between microporous structures were not proved yet. In this paper, the section TEM samples of nanofibers were prepared on the basis of the metal embedding and cutting technique, and the inner structure of sepiolite nanofibers was observed by TEM. The results showed that sepiolite fibers have multiplayer structure similar to concentric circles, and many micropores with the size of about 2–5 nm are normal and parallel to the c -axis. The reason for the previously mentioned phenomenon was explained by using BET analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis results.

Abstract: Compared with the three-dimensional rotor model for a central tie rod rotor, an equivalent one-dimensional model can greatly improve the computational efficiency in rotor dynamics analysis with a certain accuracy. However, little research work can be found on improving the modeling accuracy of one-dimensional models using experimental data. In this paper, a one-dimensional discrete mass model considering pretightening force is proposed for central tie rod rotors to achieve the purpose of both efficient and accurate modeling. Experimental testing and three-dimensional model analysis are used as reference and verification approaches. A sensitivity-based method is adopted to update the proposed one-dimensional model via minimizing the error in the critical speed comparing with the corresponding three-dimensional finite element model which has been verified by a modal test. Prediction of damped unbalanced response is conducted to show the practicality of the updated one-dimensional model. Results show that the method presented in this research work can be used to simulate a complex preloaded rotor system with high efficiency and accuracy.

Abstract: The hydrophilic character of palygorskite has been modified by grafting organic group and controlling surface energy for improving compatibility of palygorskite in rubber matrix using palygorskite as cis -polybutadiene rubber fillers. The effects of coupling modification on the performance of cis -polybutadiene rubber materials filled with palygorskite were investigated, and the influence of coupling agent dosage on their mechanical properties was also studied. The results indicated that the mechanical performance of cis -polybutadiene rubber materials reinforced by modified palygorskite could be improved significantly, and the tensile strength and tearing strength increased by 122.5% and 107.6% at the optimal dosage (15%) of coupling agent 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane. Moreover, the reinforcement mechanism of rubber composite materials as prepared was also analyzed.

Abstract: Liver cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for the greatest proportion of these deaths. Baicalein, a flavonoid isolated from the root of Scutellariae radix , is considered a potential candidate to treat HCC. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. In the present study, a network pharmacological approach was combined with microarray data (GSE95504) acquired from the Gene Expression Omnibus database to reveal the therapeutic mechanisms of action of baicalein at a systemic level. We identified 38 baicalein targets and 76 differently expressed genes (DEGs) following treatment with baicalein, including 55 upregulated and 21 downregulated genes. The DEGs were significantly enriched in the biological functions of apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and PERK-mediated unfolded protein response. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction and topological screening revealed a core module of PPIs including two baicalein targets, TP53 and CDK1 , and two downregulated DEGs, HSPA1A and HSPA1B . Expression and survival data for these genes in the module derived from Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) were subjected to Kaplan–Meier analysis of overall survival and disease-free survival. Overexpression of CDK1 , BRCA1 , TUBB , HSPA1A , HSPA1B , and HSPA4 was associated with significantly worse overall survival, while overexpression of CDK1 , CLU7 , BRCA1 , and TUBB was associated with significantly worse disease-free survival. These data suggest that baicalein exerts therapeutic effects against HCC via a PPI network involving TP53, CDK1, HSPA1A, and HSPA1B.

Abstract: Visual information may convey different affective valences and induce our brain into different affective perceptions. Many studies have found that unpleasant stimuli could produce stronger emotional effects than pleasant stimuli could. Although there has been a notion that triangle is perceived as negative and circle as positive, there has been no systematic study to map the degrees of valence of shapes with different affective perceptions. Here, we employed four shapes (ellipse, triangle, and line-drawn happy and angry faces) to investigate the behavior and electrophysiological responses, in order to systematically study shape-induced affective perception. The reaction time delay and the event-related potential (ERP), particularly the early ERP component, were applied to find the associations with different affective perceptions. Our behavioral results showed that reaction time for angry face was significantly shorter than those for the other three types of stimuli ( p 〈 0.05 ). In the ERP results, P1, N1, P2, and N2 amplitudes for angry face were significantly larger than those for happy face. Similarly, P1, N1, P2, and N2 amplitudes for triangle were significantly larger than those for ellipse. Particularly, P1 amplitude in the parietal lobe for angry face was the strongest, followed by happy face, triangle, and ellipse. Hence, this work found distinct electrophysiological evidence to map the shape-induced affective perception. It supports the hypothesis that affective strain would induce larger amplitude than affective ease does and strong affective stimuli induce larger amplitude than mild affective stimuli do.

Abstract: The nickel doped, nitrogen doped and nickel + nitrogen codoped rutile titanium dioxide have been investigated by ab initio calculations based on density functional theory. The electronic structure and optical performance of different ions doping models are researched through the obtained results, which reflects that the band gap of nickel and nitrogen codoped system declines apparently; the decrease of electron-hole pairs separation and charge carriers recombination rate becomes more desirable. Moreover, the optical absorption curves of nitrogen and nickel codoped rutile titanium dioxide demonstrate the higher photoresponse for visible-light than that of nickel or nitrogen single doped. The above results could provide theoretical basis for further developing of titanium dioxide photocatalyst and related experimental studies.

Abstract: In order to use sepiolite nanofibers as cis -polybutadiene rubber fillers, the hydrophilic character of sepiolite nanofibers should be modified by grafting organic group and controlling surface free energy for improving compatibility of sepiolite nanofibers in rubber matrix. The relationship between the performance of the cis -polybutadiene rubber filled with sepiolite and the coupling modification was investigated, and the influence of coupling agent γ -(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyltrimethoxysilane dosage on mechanical properties of cis -polybutadiene rubber materials was also studied. The results showed that the mechanical properties could be improved obviously after reinforcement by modified sepiolite nanofibers. The optimum dosage of coupling agent γ -(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyltrimethoxysilane was 7%, and the tensile strength and tearing strength increased by 108.3% and 74.1%, respectively. On this basis, the reinforcement mechanism of the composite rubber materials was also discussed.

Abstract: High efficiency and low cost thermal insulation energy saving panel materials containing sepiolite nanofibers were developed by means of the synergistic action of inorganic adhesive, curing agent, and hydrogen peroxide. The water soluble sodium silicate was used as inorganic adhesive, and the sodium fluorosilicate was chosen as curing agent. Moreover, appropriate amount of hydrogen peroxide was added in order to decrease the bulk density and improve the heat insulation performance of panel materials. The results showed that the synergistic action of inorganic adhesive, curing agent, and hydrogen peroxide could make thermal insulation energy saving panel materials have low bulk density and high mechanical performance, and the optimal process was as follows: 120°C of drying temperature, 1.6% of sodium silicate as inorganic adhesive, 12% of sodium fluorosilicate as curing agent in sodium silicate, and 2.5% of hydrogen peroxide. The thermal insulation energy saving panel materials as prepared could arrest heat transmission and resist external force effectively.
