    Abstract: During tunnel construction in cold regions, the good adhesion of surrounding rock-lining interface is one of the important preconditions to evaluate the durability of tunnel lining. However, the repeated fatigue damage between rock and concrete due to the freeze-thaw action leads to debonding at the interface, which significantly affects the protective effect of shotcrete. Accordingly, based on the combination of sandstone-concrete as the object, through the development of sandstone-concrete interface freeze-thaw cycling test, and combining the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, the mechanism of debonding by freeze-thaw damage at the sandstone-concrete interface was systematically revealed. The conclusions drawn are as follows: (1) With the increase of freeze-thaw times, the content of micropores and macropores at the interface gradually increases, while the content of mesoporous gradually decreases. At the same time, the decrease of freeze-thaw temperature also aggravates the growth of interface cracks, and the freeze-thaw damage of interface is closely related to the minimum freeze-thaw temperature. (2) The damage of the sandstone side becomes more serious under multiple freeze-thaw actions. Concrete as a water retaining plate inhibits the migration of water to its interior, and a pot cover effect exists at the interface to provide better storage space for water accumulation. (3) The C-S-H group is the main source of the bond force of sandstone-concrete interface, and the freeze-thaw effect aggravates the fracture of the C-S-H group, which leads to the interface debonding. This study could provide an experimental basis and theoretical support for systematically recognizing the evolution mechanism of freeze-thaw damage and debonding of shotcrete in tunnels in cold regions.

    Abstract: By using proximate analysis, X-ray diffraction mineral analysis, scanning electron microscope, contact angle measurement, and settlement simulation experiment, the coal fines produced from the coalbed methane wells of Binchang area were used to study the characteristics including particle size distribution, composition, morphology, wettability, and settleability. The results show that the particle size of coal fines produced from coalbed methane wells are mainly 〉 20 mesh, ranging of 1-400 μm, and the particle size distribution curve is mainly dominated by the main-secondary bimodal type, with the main peak of 30-300 μm. The particle size from large to small is drill cutting coal fines, flowback coal fines, bailing coal fines, and pipeline filter coal fines. In terms of ash content, coal fines are higher than coal seam, and drilling cuttings are higher than bailing coal fines, while the fixed carbon content of the former is lower than that of the latter. The minerals of coal fines are mainly kaolinite, illite, quartz, and other 6 minerals, and the mineral types of drilling coal fines are the most abundant, while the bailing coal fines only contain illite and quartz. The roundness of coal fine particles ranges from excellent to poor in the order of bailing coal fines, pipeline filter coal fines, flowback coal fines, and drilling cuttings. However, the sorting of drilling cuttings is excellent, and the particle edges are straight, neat, and smooth, while the sorting of bailing coal fines is poor, and the particle edges are curved, uneven, and rough. The contact angles of coal fines are 40.25°-69.5°, indicating hydrophilous. The wettability of bailing coal fines is better than that of drilling cuttings. The particle size has a negative correlation with the wettability effect. The more obvious the modification effect of positive wetting agent is, the worse the modification effect of negative wetting agent is. The modification of surfactant has nothing to do with the particle size of the coal fines, but is closely related to organic components and minerals. The larger the coal particle size, the higher the settling rate, and the higher the ash content and the lower the fixed carbon content, the faster the settling rate. With the dividing point 150 mesh, the settling rate of large particles is mainly affected by particle size, while that of small particles is affected by the composition.

    Abstract: This paper presents a co-design method of the event generator and the dynamic output feedback controller for a linear time-invariant (LIT) system. The event-triggered condition on the sensor-to-controller and the controller-to-actuator depends on the plant output and the controller output, respectively. A sufficient condition on the existence of the event generator and the dynamic output feedback controller is proposed and the co-design problem can be converted into the feasibility of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The LTI system is asymptotically stable under the proposed event-triggered controller and also reduces the computing resources with respect to the time-triggered one. In the end, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

    Abstract: We present some sufficient global optimality conditions for a special cubic minimization problem with box constraints or binary constraints by extending the global subdifferential approach proposed by V. Jeyakumar et al. (2006). The present conditions generalize the results developed in the work of V. Jeyakumar et al. where a quadratic minimization problem with box constraints or binary constraints was considered. In addition, a special diagonal matrix is constructed, which is used to provide a convenient method for justifying the proposed sufficient conditions. Then, the reformulation of the sufficient conditions follows. It is worth noting that this reformulation is also applicable to the quadratic minimization problem with box or binary constraints considered in the works of V. Jeyakumar et al. (2006) and Y. Wang et al. (2010). Finally some examples demonstrate that our optimality conditions can effectively be used for identifying global minimizers of the certain nonconvex cubic minimization problem.

    Abstract: Subsurface migration and accumulation of oil and gas have interested researchers for a long time, but these processes may occur over very long geological periods and are difficult to observe directly, so experimental simulations are warranted. In this study, an experimental method was developed to model hydrocarbon migration in the subsurface structure. Oil migration was simulated in a sandbox model, and industrial CT scanning was used to observe both the internal geometry of the model and the oil migration pathways. In the sandbox model, a NaI solution was used to simulate water, white oil was used to simulate hydrocarbon, and fine quartz sand, glass bead, silica powder, and brown corundum were chosen to represent brittle crust, based on suitable material parameters. A NaI-saturated layered sandbox model was constructed with an along-strike basal discontinuity, which during compression allowed a simple anticline with doubly verging reverse faults to form. Oil was then released continuously at a low rate from an orifice under one limb of the anticline. Initially, the oil migrated vertically through the fault zone until it reached the top of the fault zone; it then migrated laterally along the core of the anticline, saturating a model reservoir by buoyancy and capillary force. This experimental analog helps to explain hydrocarbon migration and accumulation within the Anjihai and Santai anticlines in northwest China.

    Abstract: The adsorption/desorption characteristics of a coal reservoir play an important role in coalbed methane (CBM) development. The proximate analysis, maceral analysis and methane isothermal adsorption/desorption experiment are carried out based on coal samples from no. 4+5 coal seam in Baode block. Combing with coal experimental data and the CBM well-produced water salinity data in the Baode block, the effect of salinity and water content on CBM adsorption/desorption characteristics of the coal reservoir and its influencing mechanism is discussed. The results show that the CBM adsorption and desorption capacity decreases with the increase of water salinity and the decrease value shows a decreasing trend. The increase of water salinity reduces the solubility of methane in coal seam water and then reduces the adsorption capacity of methane. With the increase of water content, the adsorption and desorption capacities of CBM decrease gradually. The CBM adsorption and desorption capacities decrease with the increase of water content in coal samples. The adsorption/desorption capacities of coal samples change rapidly in the low-water content stage and slowly in the high-water content stage. The competitive adsorption effect and water blocking effect between water and methane molecules are the main influencing mechanisms of water content on CBM adsorption/desorption. It can be seen that the salinity and water content will have a certain adverse impact on the adsorption and desorption capacity of CBM in the Baode block. The influence of the difference in water content and salinity in the coal seam cannot be ignored in reserve evaluation and productivity prediction of CBM. The continuous, stable, and effective drainage is one of the key factors to ensure the efficient development of CBM wells in the Baode block.

    Abstract: High-throughput metabolomics technology, such as gas chromatography mass spectrometry, allows the analysis of hundreds of metabolites. Understanding that these metabolites dominate the study condition from biological pathway perspective is still a significant challenge. Pathway identification is an invaluable aid to address this issue and, thus, is urgently needed. In this study, we developed a network-based metabolite pathway identification method, MPINet, which considers the global importance of metabolites and the unique character of metabolomic profile. Through integrating the global metabolite functional network structure and the character of metabolomic profile, MPINet provides a more accurate metabolomic pathway analysis. This integrative strategy simultaneously captures the global nonequivalence of metabolites in a pathway and the bias from metabolomic experimental technology. We then applied MPINet to four different types of metabolite datasets. In the analysis of metastatic prostate cancer dataset, we demonstrated the effectiveness of MPINet. With the analysis of the two type 2 diabetes datasets, we show that MPINet has the potentiality for identifying novel pathways related with disease and is reliable for analyzing metabolomic data. Finally, we extensively applied MPINet to identify drug sensitivity related pathways. These results suggest MPINet’s effectiveness and reliability for analyzing metabolomic data across multiple different application fields.

    Abstract: Lycopodium clavatum is a dry whole grass of Lycopodium japonicum Thunb.; it has been extensively used to anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial actions and inhibits acetylcholinesterase activity. However, it lacks further compounds research of Lycopodium clavatum in vivo and in vitro . In this work, a rapid method was established using the ultra high performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) combined with multiple data-processing approaches for compounds analysis of Lycopodium clavatum in vitro and in vivo . Finally, 30 peaks were characterized in 75% ethanol extract of Lycopodium clavatum and 17 peaks were characterized in rat plasma that including 12 prototype compounds and 5 metabolites. Methylation and demethylation are the main transformation reactions of Lycopodium clavatum in rat serum. This work could be helpful for understanding the complex compounds of Lycopodium clavatum and further analyzing the pharmacological studies of active compounds.

    Abstract: Surface flattening plays an important role in the whole process of garment design. We proposed a novel method by using three-dimensional triangle mesh flattening in this study. First, the three-dimensional triangle mesh is flattened to a two-dimensional plane to approximate the original surface. The initial flattening results are then used as preliminary guesses for subsequent optimizations. Considering that the deformation energy in the real woven fabric is related to tensile or shear deformation, a simplified fabric deformation model based on energy is proposed to update the energy distribution to determine the best two-dimensional pattern. An innovative unified axis system process is proposed to obtain the deformation energy, and energy relaxation in local flattening is proposed to release the distortion of flattening. Finally, the experimental results show that complex surfaces such as garments could achieve better flattening results. Compared with other energy-based methods in garment design, our proposed methods are more flexible and practical.

    Abstract: One steel grid and five thin-walled concrete-filled steel tubes (CTST) used as the supports of tunnel were tested in site for investigating the mechanical behavior. The mechanical influences of thickness, node form, and concrete on CTST were gained and compared with the impacts on steel grid. It is indicated that high antideformation capacity of CTST improved the stability of surrounding rock in short time. The cementitious grouted sleeve connection exhibited superior flexibility when CTST was erected and built. Although the deformation of rock and soil in the tunnel was increasing, good compression resistance was observed by CTST with the new connection type. It was also seen that vault, tube foot, and connections were with larger absolute strain values. The finite element analysis (FEA) was carried out using ABAQUS program. The results were validated by comparison with experimental results. The FE model could be referred by similar projects.
