    Abstract: Background. To analyze the association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D level (25(OH)D) and stroke risk based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Methods. Between 2007 and 2018, the baseline information of participants from NHNES was collected. Univariate analysis was used to identify the covariates. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the association between serum 25(OH)D level and the stroke risk. Results. Of the 8,523 participants, there were 310 participants with stroke and 8,213 participants without stroke. The multivariate logistic analysis showed that serum 25(OH)D deficiency (odds ratio (OR): 1.993, 95% confidence intervals (CI): 1.141-3.481, and P = 0.012 ) was the significant risk factors for stroke. Subgroup analysis showed that non-Hispanic whites with serum 25(OH)D deficiency (OR: 2.501, 95% CI: 1.094-5.720, and P = 0.001 ) and insufficiency (OR: 1.853, 95% CI: 1.170-2.934, and P = 0.006 ) were associated with a higher risk of stroke than those with normal 25(OH)D levels. Conclusions. Serum 25(OH)D deficiency may be associated with an increased risk of stroke.

    Abstract: In vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), a hotspot, such as a parking lot, is an information source and will receive inquiries from many vehicles for seeking any possible free parking space. According to the routing protocols in literature, each of the vehicles needs to flood its route discovery (RD) packets to discover a route to the hotspot before sending inquiring packets to the parking lot. As a result, the VANET nearby an urban area or city center may incur the problem of broadcast storm due to so many flooding RD packets during rush hours. To avoid the broadcast storm problem, this paper presents a hotspot-enabled routing-tree based data forwarding method, called the intelligent information dissemination scheme (IID). Our method can let the hotspot automatically decide when to build the routing-tree for proactive information transmissions under the condition that the number of vehicle routing discoveries during a given period exceeds a certain threshold which is calculated through our developed analytical packet delivery model. The routing information will be dynamically maintained by vehicles located at each intersection near the hotspot if the maintaining cost is less than that of allowing vehicles to discover routes themselves. Simulation results show that this method can minimize routing delays for vehicles with lower packets delivery overheads.

    Abstract: This paper takes 105 disabled children from the Disabled Rehabilitation Research Center of the South China minority autonomous region as the survey objects. Based on the Gesell scale, it collects health data such as exercise ability and health status of disabled children, analyzes the data in accordance with SPSS software, and constructs comprehensive disease analysis model of 105 disabled children. Moreover, according to five indicator data collected and tested for disabled children (adaptability, big movements, fine movements, language, and personal-social) in Gesell scale, comprehensive disease indicators of the disabled children are calculated and statistically analyzed together with age and gender information. This study analyzed comprehensive diseases and the correlation among various indicators, concluding that most disabled children aged 3–7 are diagnosed with moderate and severe developmental retardation, and retardation level is in obvious normal distribution. At the same time, there is a significant correlation between indicators of ability test interval and measurement indicators with age. This study suggests that targeted treatment and rehabilitation plans should be implemented for disabled children of different ages according to different indicators of ability test interval, which has reference value and significance for improving the treatment level of disabled children and realizing targeted rehabilitation.

    Abstract: Image deblurring is a classic and important problem in industrial fields, such as aviation photo restoration, object recognition in robotics, and autonomous vehicles. Blurry images in real-world scenarios consist of mixed blurring types, such as a natural motion blurring owing to shaking of the camera. Fast deblurring does not deblur the entire image because it is not the best option. Considering the computational costs, it is also better to have an alternative kernel to deblur different objects at a high-semantic level. To achieve better image restoration quality, it is also beneficial to combine the blurring category location and important structural information in terms of specific artifacts and degree of blurring. The goal of blind image deblurring is to restore sharpness from the unknown blurring kernel of an image. Recent deblurring methods tend to reconstruct prior knowledge, neglecting the influence of blur estimation and visual fidelity on image details and structure. Generative adversarial networks(GANs) have recently been attracting considerable attention from both academia and industry because GAN can perfectly generate new data with the same statistics as the training set. Therefore, this study proposes a generative neural architecture and an edge attention algorithm developed to restore vivid multimedia patches. Joint edge generation and image restoration techniques are designed to solve the low-level multimedia retrieval. This multipath refinement fusion network (MRFNet) can not only perform deblurring of images directly but also individual the frames separately from videos. Ablation experiments validate that our generative adversarial network MRFNet performs better in joint training than in multimodel. Compared to other GAN methods, our two-phase method exhibited state-of-the-art performance in terms of speed and accuracy as well as has a significant visual improvement.

    Abstract: A study was performed to assess nutrient release from biochar inoculated with solid vermicast (SVB), vermicast tea (VTB), deionized water (DWB), uninoculated biochar (Bioc), and Promix-BX (Pro-BX). The growth response of Swiss chard ( Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) cv. Rhubarb chard was also assessed. Comparatively, nutrients were released slowly from treatments SVB and VTB compared to the other treatments. The rate of nutrient release determined by total dissolved solids and electric conductivity from the Pro-BX was the highest. The trend for the plant growth components, total leaf surface area and leaf fresh weight at first harvest, was Pro-BX  〉  Bioc  〉  DWB = SVB  〉  VTB. The only treatment that increased total leaf area and leaf fresh weight at the second harvest by approximately 1.02- and 1.88-fold was VTB. Leaf fresh weight was significantly reduced by approximately 0.33-fold for DWB, 0.28-fold for Bioc, and 0.70-fold for Pro-BX but was not altered by SVB at the second harvest as compared to the first harvest. A 2-dimensional principal component analysis (PCA) biplot confirmed that treatment Pro-BX increased plant growth components at the first harvest only. The locations of SVB and VTB on the PCA biplot confirmed their efficacies, which led to increases in the plant growth components at the second harvest. Overall, the VTB adsorbed more nutrients onto its surface that were slowly released to enhance the Swiss chard cv. Rhubarb chard plant growth at the second harvest. Further studies should consider microbial activities.
