    Abstract: Based on the advection-diffusion equation of suspended sediment, a general formula of vertical distribution of suspended sediment concentration was derived by considering the influence of vertical velocity. The new formula was tested against over 3000 sets of field data and obtained a reasonable agreement. Comparing with the Rouse equation of concentration, the accuracy of the new formula increases significantly, and the shortcoming of the underestimation of the Rouse profile in practical application is revised. Through the analysis of the new formula with different vertical time-averaged velocity coefficients m , it was found that vertical velocity does have an impact on the accurate estimation of sediment concentration, and the extent of which is related to the value of sediment concentration. Utilizing the regression analysis, it was found the vertical time-averaged velocity coefficient m increases with the height above the bed.

    Abstract: Background. Currently, whether magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) should be routinely applied to patients with breast cancer before surgery remains controversial. A pooled analysis of the association between preoperative MRI and surgical outcomes in female patients with newly diagnosed invasive breast cancer was conducted to provide evidence-based medicine for clinical practice. Methods. Three independent researchers searched the following databases: PubMed, Medline, Embase, Ovid, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science from inception to April 2022. Literature was included and excluded according to Cochrane’s principles. The basic information from eligible documents was extracted. Systematic evaluation and meta-analysis were performed, and the odds ratio (OR) was analyzed by the random-effect model. The quality of the literature was assessed using the modified Jadad scale and the Newcastle-Ottawa (NOS) mean scale. Results. A total of 19 studies were included, including 4 randomized controlled trials and 15 observational comparative studies. Among them, most studies were not limited to a specific pathological type, with the exception of 3 that were limited to invasive lobular carcinoma. The results showed that preoperative MRI examination would significantly reduce the reoperation rate (OR = 0.77, P = 0.02 ) and increase the mastectomy rate (OR = 1.36, P = 0.001 ). In comparison, preoperative MRI did not significantly affect the rate of secondary mastectomy (OR = 0.77, P = 0.02 ), the rate of positive margin (OR = 1.08, P = 0.66 ), the rate of mastectomy (OR = 1.00, P 〈 0.05 ), and reoperations (OR = 0.65, P = 0.19 ) in the subgroup analysis of patients with invasive lobular carcinoma. Conclusion. Available evidence suggests that preoperative MRI examination increases the rate of mastectomy and reduces the rate of reoperations. The results indicate that preoperative MRI examination has the potential to benefit patients with breast cancer, but more high-quality studies are needed for confirmation.

    Abstract: A novel cellulose-chitosan gel was successfully prepared in three steps: (1) ferrocene- (Fc-) cellulose with degrees of substitution (DS) of 0.5 wt% was synthesised by ferrocenecarboxylic acid and cellulose within dimethylacetamide/lithium chloride (DMAc/LiCl); (2) the β -cyclodextrin ( β -CD) groups were introduced onto the chitosan chains by reacting chitosan with epichlorohydrin in dimethyl sulphoxide and a DS of 0.35 wt%; (3) thus, the cellulose-chitosan gel was obtained via an intermolecular inclusion interaction of Fc-cellulose and β -CD-chitosan in DMA/LiCl, that is, by an intermolecular inclusion interaction, between the Fc groups of cellulose and the β -CD groups on the chitosan backbone at room temperature. The successful synthesis of Fc-cellulose and β -CD-chitosan was characterised by 13 C-NMR spectroscopy. The gel based on β -CD-chitosan and Fc-cellulose was formed under mild conditions which can engender autonomous healing between cut surfaces after 24 hours: the gel cannot self-heal while the cut surfaces were coated with a solution of a competitive guest (adamantane acid). The cellulose-chitosan complex made by this method underwent self-healing. Therefore, this study provided a novel method of expanding the application of chitosan by binding it with another polymer.

    Abstract: The problem of the elastic vibration control for a translational flexible manipulator system (TFMS) under variable load conditions is studied. The input shaper can effectively filter out the vibration excitation components for the flexible manipulator in the driving signals, but the adaptability and rapidity of the conventional input shaper are poor because it is essentially an open-loop control mode and there are time-lag links inevitably. Thus, by combining the state feedback with the input shaping, a master-slave integrated controller of the TFMS is proposed. Moreover, in order to solve the time-lag effect of the conventional input shaper, based on the optimal algorithm, a two-mode vibration cascade shaper for the TFMS is designed. Then, under variable load conditions, the control effects of the conventional input shapers, the two-mode vibration cascade shaper, and the combination of the state feedback integral controller (SFIC) with the above shapers are investigated. The results show that the designed master-slave integrated controller has high robustness under variable load conditions and takes good account of the requirements of system response time and overshoot for achieving the goal of nonovershoot under fast response speed. Simulation experiment results verify the effectiveness of the designed controller.

    Abstract: Male infertility induced by heat stress has been attracting more and more attention. Heat stress not only causes apoptosis of spermatocytes but also has adverse effects on Sertoli cells, further damaging spermatogenesis. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) is the main bioactive component of Lycium barbarum, which has a protective effect on male reproduction, but its mechanism is still unclear. In this study, our results proved that LBP blocked the inhibitory effect on the proliferation activity of Sertoli cells after heat stress, reversed the dedifferentiation of Sertoli cells induced by heat stress, and ameliorated the structural integrity of the blood-testis barrier. In addition, it increased the expression of the androgen receptor and activated Akt signaling pathway to resist heat-stress-induced injury of Sertoli cells.
