Abstract: Where a mined-out area underlies a slope, it is a direct threat to slope safety and stability. This is of particular concern where a mined-out area underlies the slope of an open-pit mine, and it has a serious impact on the design and safety measures used for the mine. If a mined-out area underlying the final slope of an open-pit mine is not treated adequately and at the appropriate time, it may cause the slip failure of the final slope during the service life of the mine, posing a serious threat to the safety of personnel and equipment during the stripping phase. In light of the potential for such problems, this paper analyzes the instability mode and failure characteristics of an open-pit slope near a mined-out area in China using geological field survey and the polar stereographic projection method. The scale span method, in combination with engineering analogy and consideration of open-pit mining technology, is then used to determine the critical safety thickness at which pretreatment of mined-out areas should be carried out. A pretreatment process to infill the mined-out area during construction of open-pit mine steps is put forward, and its effects on slope stability and reliability are comprehensively evaluated. The results show that circular sliding is the most appropriate instability mode for a slope near a mined-out area. The failure initiates through breakage in the roof of the mined-out area, which induces subduction sliding of the free face of the slope at the left boundary of the mined-out area and subsequent failure of the entire regional slope. Comprehensive analysis methods are used to determine that the critical safety thickness at which a mined-out area under the final open-pit slope should be pretreated is 24 m. The recommended treatment countermeasure is to transfer filling slurry into the mined-out area through drilling holes in benches. This can satisfy the stability and reliability requirements for the slope under different working conditions.

Abstract: Background. Danshen Decoction comprises Salvia miltiorrhiza, Santalum album, and Amomum villosum. It can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and is commonly used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, etc. This research is based on network pharmacology and is experimentally verified to explore the potential mechanism of Danshen Decoction in the treatment of ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). Methods. The effective components and targets of Danshen Decoction were firstly extracted from Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) Database and Analysis Platform, the drug-component-target-disease network was then constructed, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed, the Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis was carried out, and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway was analyzed in order to find the potential active components and therapeutic mechanisms. Finally, the in vitro hypoxia/reoxygenation model in H9c2 cells was established to verify the predicted active components and therapeutic mechanisms. Results. The results showed that Danshen Decoction has 67 potential active components and 109 therapeutic targets in treating ICM. These targets were rich in a variety of gene functions and different signaling pathways; the main gene targets include TP53, c-Jun, and Akt1. Go enrichment analysis showed that response to drug, membrane raft, and G protein-coupled amine receiver activity rank first in each process, and the main signaling pathways include PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Through molecular docking and experimental verification of the major active components and core therapeutic targets, the active components of Danshen Decoction demonstrated an ability to reduce the cell damage caused by hypoxia/reoxygenation in H9c2 cells by regulating the core therapeutic target including Akt1, c-Jun, and TP53. Conclusion. Danshen Decoction has the effect of treating ICM in multiple ways, which is consistent with the results of network pharmacology. This laid a foundation for further study in exploring the active principles and pharmacological mechanism of Danshen Decoction.

Abstract: This study identified 57 basic leucine zipper (bZIP) genes from the pineapple genome, and the analysis of these bZIP genes was focused on the evolution and divergence after multiple duplication events in relation to the pineapple genome fusion. According to bioinformatics analysis of a phylogenetic tree, the bZIP gene family was divided into 11 subgroups in pineapple, Arabidopsis , and rice; gene structure and conserved motif analyses showed that bZIP genes within the same subgroup shared similar intron-exon organizations and motif composition. Further synteny analysis showed 17 segmental duplication events with 27 bZIP genes. The study also analyzed the pineapple gene expression of bZIP genes in different tissues, organs, and developmental stages, as well as in abiotic stress responses. The RNA-sequencing data showed that AcobZIP57 was upregulated in all tissues, including vegetative and reproductive tissues. AcobZIP28 and AcobZIP43 together with the other 25 bZIP genes did not show high expression levels in any tissue. Six bZIP genes were exposed to abiotic stress, and the relative expression levels were detected by quantitative real-time PCR. A significant response was observed for AcobZIP24 against all kinds of abiotic stresses at 24 and 48 h in pineapple root tissues. Our study provides a perspective for the evolutionary history and general biological involvement of the bZIP gene family of pineapple, which laid the foundation for future functional characterization of the bZIP genes in pineapple.

Abstract: A mechanical durable polysiloxane superhydrophobic surface was successfully prepared by means of polymerization of silanes blending with particles. The as-prepared polysiloxane surface showed stable superhydrophobicity even after the surface underwent a long distance friction. The superhydrophobicity of the polysiloxane materials can be even slightly enhanced by the surface abrasion. The scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that the micro- and nanometer structures distributed through the whole materials thickness are responsible for the mechanical durable superhydrophobicity.

Abstract: A superhydrophobic coating was fabricated from the dispersion of unmodified kaolin particles and aluminate coupling agent in anhydrous ethanol. Through surface modification, water contact angle of the coating prepared by modified kaolin particles increased dramatically from 0° to 152°, and the sliding angle decreased from 90° to 3°. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the surface morphology. A structure composed of micro-nano hierarchical component, combined with the surface modification by aluminate coupling agent which reduced the surface energy greatly, was found to be responsible for the superhydrophobicity. The method adopted is relatively simple, facile, and cost-effective and can potentially be applied to large water-repellent surface coatings.

Abstract: The understanding of F− concentration in groundwater in humid areas is limited although there are lots of research on high-fluoride groundwater in arid areas. In this paper, with controlling factors of F− concentrations in humid areas as the focus, 130 groundwater samples, obtained from four subsystems in Northwest Xingguo County, Jiangxi Province, China, were investigated to demonstrate the controlling factors of F− concentrations in humid areas. According to analytical results, the following hydrogeochemical characteristics of the fluorine in humid mountainous areas were determined: (1) F− concentration is positively correlated with total dissolved solids (TDS), Ca2+, HCO 3 − , and pH; (2) the groundwater features a high flow rate and low TDS; (3) the equilibrium constant of CaF2 is less than its solubility product constant, and the fluorine-bearing minerals in rocks are in a dissolved state; and (4) the dissolved fluoride-bearing minerals constitute the main sources of F− in the groundwater. Fluorine mainly comes from groundwater fluorine-bearing minerals in metamorphic rocks. Moreover, the low F− concentration in the groundwater mainly results from the fast flow rate of groundwater. Fluoride in groundwater has great potential hazards in humid areas.
