Abstract: We select five objective sentiment indicators and one subjective sentiment indicator to build investor sentiment composite index in Chinese stock market by using the partial least squares. The reason why we do that is to improve the shortcomings of the principal component analysis, which was adopted to build investor sentiment composite index in the pioneering research. Moreover, due to the large proportion of individual investors in Chinese stock market and the rapid change of investor sentiment, we innovatively use the weekly data with smaller information granularity and higher frequency. Through empirical tests for its reasonability and market’s predictive capability, we find that this index appears to fit the data better and improves prediction.

Abstract: Background . Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute vasculitis disease that commonly causes acquired heart disease in children. Coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) is a major complication of KD. However, the pathogenesis of KD remains unclear. The results of a genome-wide association study (GWAS) showed that two functional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs; rs699A 〉 G and rs5050T 〉 G) in the angiotensinogen (AGT) gene were related to cardiovascular disease susceptibility. The purpose of our study was to estimate the relationship between the two GWAS-identified AGT gene polymorphisms and the risk of CAA in Southern Chinese children with KD. Methods . We genotyped the two AGT gene polymorphisms (rs699A 〉 G and rs5050T 〉 G) in 760 KD cases and 972 healthy controls. We used the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to estimate the degree of the associations. Results . These two AGT gene polymorphisms were not associated with a risk of KD relative to the controls, but after adjusting for sex and age, the carriers of the rs5050G allele with TG/GG vs TT had an adjusted OR = 1.56 , 95% C I = 1.01 -2.41, and P = 0.044 relative to the carriers of the rs5050TT genotype. The susceptibility to CAA was more predominant in KD patients younger than 12 months old. Conclusions . Our results indicate that the AGT gene polymorphism rs5050T 〉 G may increase the risk of CAA in children with KD, especially those who are younger than 12 months. These results need to be verified by a validation study with a larger sample size.

Abstract: As two important parameters, the velocity of disturbance wave and the wall shear stress in annular flow are very important to solve the closed equations of the mechanical model for annular flow. In this study, the disturbance wave velocity and wall shear stress of annular flow in a vertical narrow rectangular channel with a cross section of 70 mm × 2 mm were studied. According to the experimental results, it is found that the wave velocity and wall shear stress of disturbance wave increase with increasing gas phase velocity and liquid phase velocity. Also, existing correlations for predicting the velocity of disturbance wave were summarized and evaluated using the current experimental data. A new correlation for wall shear stress based on the disturbance wave velocity has been proposed. Compared with the existing correlation for predicting wall shear stress, this new correlation can well predict the current experimental data and MAPE is only 7.32%.

Abstract: When nuclear reactor accidents such as steam generator pipe ruptures or core melting occur, radioactive aerosols will remain in the liquid pools. Bubbles may be generated by boiling or gas injection. Film droplets produced by bubble bursts may entrain radioactive aerosols from the liquid to the air. This long-lasting behavior can produce a considerable amount of aerosols. To evaluate radioactive source terms, many physical quantities related to bubble bursting need to be determined, such as bubble burst position, bubble lifetime, cap film roll-up velocity, and cap film thickness, which are very important parameters that influence the releasing of radioactive aerosols. In this research, the phenomenon of bubble bursting was investigated by visualization. The above parameters were measured. We obtained the lifetime distribution of bubbles under different conditions, and we found that the addition of an aerosol increased the lifetime of the bubbles. By comparing the bubble lifetime to the roll-up velocity and cap thickness, we showed that the increase of the liquid temperature thickened the cap at rupture and the increase of the air temperature thinned the cap. The addition of an aerosol increased the film roll-up velocity.

Abstract: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis; nearly 80% patients have regional or distant metastasis when diagnosed. Tumor microenvironment (TME) alteration and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) have been reported to play a key role in cancer metastasis. However, the correlation between TME and EMT was poorly studied in PDAC. This study aims to explore the correlation between EMT markers and TME alteration, mainly including macrophage polarization and PD-L1 expression change, in primary and metastatic PDAC tissues by immunohistochemistry. The results indicated that macrophage polarization was found in metastases with the number of M1 macrophages (CD86+) decreased and M2 (CD163+) increased, though PD-L1 expression did not have a significant alteration. Compared to primary tumors, E-cadherin was significantly lower, while snail was higher, while no difference was found with N-cadherin and ZEB1. Correlation analysis indicated that snail, but not ZEB1, E-cadherin, or N-cadherin, was highly correlated with macrophage polarization. To conclude, the number of CD86+ M1 macrophages was increased while CD163+ M2 macrophages decreased in metastases, with no significant alteration of PD-L1 expression compared to primary tumors. EMT markers—Snail and E-cadherin—but not ZEB1 or N-cadherin, were found to be higher/lower in metastases, which mean that EMT played an important role in PDAC metastasis. Further analysis indicated that snail was highly correlated with M1 to M2 macrophage polarization, which prompted that EMT may be one reason for macrophage polarization induced TME alteration in PDAC metastasis.

Abstract: GTSE1 is well correlated with tumor progression; however, little is known regarding its role in liver cancer prognosis. By analyzing the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) datasets in GEO and TCGA databases, we showed that high expression of GTSE1 was correlated with advanced pathologic stage and poor prognosis of HCC patients. To investigate underlying molecular mechanism, we generated GTSE1 knockdown HCC cell line and explored the effects of GTSE1 deficiency in cell growth. Between GTSE1 knockdown and wild-type HCC cells, we identified 979 differentially expressed genes (520 downregulated and 459 upregulated genes) in the analysis of microarray-based gene expression profiling. Functional enrichment analysis of DEGs suggested that S phase was dysregulated without GTSE1 expression, which was further verified from flow cytometry analysis. Moreover, three other DEGs: CDC20, PCNA, and MCM6, were also found contributing to GTSE1-related cell cycle arrest and to be associated with poor overall survival of HCC patients. In conclusion, GTSE1, together with CDC20, PCNA, and MCM6, may synergistically promote adverse prognosis in HCC by activating cell cycle. Genes like GTSE1, CDC20, PCNA, and MCM6 may be promising prognostic molecular biomarkers in liver cancer.

Abstract: Based on the DSSW model, we analyze the nonlinear impact mechanism of investor sentiment on stock return and volatility by adjusting its hypothesis in Chinese stock market. We examine the relationship between investor sentiment, stock return, and volatility by applying OLS regression and quantile regression. Our empirical results show that the effects of investor sentiment on stock market return are asymmetric. There is “Freedman effect” in Chinese stock market, but only optimistic sentiment has a significant nonlinear impact on stock market returns when the stock market is a balanced market or a bear market. Meanwhile, “create the space effect” does exist in Chinese stock market too. It only exists when the market is in equilibrium, and only pessimistic sentiment has the nonlinear effect on stock market volatility.

Abstract: Pancreatic cancer remains a lethal type of cancer with poor prognosis. Molecular classification enables in-depth, precise prognostic assessment. This study is aimed at identifying a robust and simple mRNA signature to predict the overall survival (OS) of pancreatic cancer (PC) patients. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between 45 paired pancreatic tumor samples and adjacent healthy tissues were selected. For risk determination, a LASSO Cox regression model with DEGs was used to generate the OS-associated risk score formula for the training cohort containing 177 PC patients. Another five independent datasets were used as the testing cohort to determine the predictive efficiency for further validation. In total, 441 DEGs were selected after considering the enrichment of classical pathways, such as EMT, cell cycle, cell adhesion, and PI3K-AKT. A five-gene signature for risk discrimination was established with high efficacy using LASSO Cox regression in the training group. External validation showed that patients identified by the gene expression signature to be in the high-risk group had poorer prognosis compared with the low-risk patients. Further investigation identified the differential epigenetic modification patterns of the five genes, which indicated their roles in tumor progression and their effect on therapy. In conclusion, we constructed a robust five-gene expression signature that could predict the OS of PC patients, offering a new insight for risk discrimination in daily clinical practice.

Abstract: Detection of out-of round (OOR) faults of metro vehicle wheels is very important to improve stationarity and stability in metro vehicles and avoid accidents caused by OOR faults. Diagnosis of OOR faults demands extracting useful information accurately from mass of vibration signals with poor signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of metro vehicle wheels for complex running condition. In this paper, we proposed a diagnosis method on OOR faults of metro vehicle wheels combined with variational mode decomposition (VMD), kernel principal component analysis (KPCA), and deep belief network (DBN) to diagnose the OOR faults of metro wheels. Vibration signals of China metro vehicle wheels collected while the metro vehicle is running are used to train the diagnosis model and adjust parameters of DBN and KPCA based on testing accuracy. The different dimensions of KPCA, epoch number, and node number of DBN are compared, and the better parameters of diagnosis model based on vibration signals are concluded in this paper. The generalization of the diagnosis model is checked nine times by testing the calculation of each group of parameters and using an error declining process. The mean accuracy of diagnosis model proposed in this paper is 0.9136, and the diagnosis model presented in this paper is very significant to detect OOR faults online.
