Abstract: Solid tumors are usually associated with extracellular acidosis due to their increased dependence on glycolysis and poor vascularization. Cancer cells gradually become adapted to acidic microenvironment and even acquire increased aggressiveness. They are resistant to apoptosis but exhibit increased autophagy that is essential for their survival. We here show that NF-κB, a master regulator of cellular responses to stress, is upregulated in colorectal cancer cells adapted to acidosis (CRC-AA). NF-κB is more relied upon for survival in CRC-AA than in their parental cells and drives a robust antioxidant response. Supplementation of antioxidant abolishes the increased sensitivity of CRC-AA to NF-κB inhibition or depletion, suggesting that NF-κB supports the survival of CRC-AA by maintaining redox homeostasis. Because SQSTM1/p62 is known to mediate the selective autophagy of GATA4 that augments NF-κB function, we tested whether the enhanced autophagic flux and consequently the reduction of SQSTM1/p62 in CRC-AA cells could activate the GATA4-NF-κB axis. Indeed, GATA4 is upregulated in CRC-AA cells and augments the NF-κB activity that underlies the increased expression of cytokines, inhibition of apoptosis, and reduction of reactive oxygen species. Interestingly, secretory factors derived from HCT15-AA cells, the soluble ICAM-1 in particular, also possess antioxidant cytoprotective effect against acidic stress. Together, our results demonstrate a prosurvival role of the p62-restricted GATA4-NF-κB axis in cancer cells adapted to acidic microenvironment.

Abstract: Tax is the main source of national and regional income, and the efficiency of tax collection and administration is of great significance to the sustainable development. In order to improve the efficiency of tax collection and administration in the less developed regions of western China due to the slow economic development, the low volume of tax revenue, and the high cost of tax collection and administration, this study extends the two-stage DEA model to the case of asymmetric two-stage efficiency values and analyzes the tax collection and administration efficiency of Yunnan Province by the improved model. The results show that the average value of tax collection and administration efficiency of Yunnan Province in 2020 is 0.944, and the overall efficiency values of tax collection and administration in most of the states and cities are within the range of 0.8–1.0. The overall tax collection and administration efficiency of Yunnan Province is relatively ineffective and can be improved. This study also makes relevant suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of organizations to promote the sustainable development of regions and the nation.

Abstract: In order to reasonably evaluate the stability of the embankment supported by the rigid pile composite foundation, a nonlinear algorithm calculation and analysis method for the stability of the nanosilica powder soft soil pile foundation is proposed. First, the soft soil foundation reinforced by the composite structure of “piles (prestressed pipe piles, (cement fly-ash gravel, CFG) piles)—pile caps—geotextile pads” is analyzed through the soft soil embankment test section of the Wenfu high-speed railway. Second, the compressive modulus under one-dimensional confining compression is calculated using the layered summation method. Finally, the deep lateral deformation of the pile foundation soil is measured by an inclinometer to evaluate the actual displacement of the pile foundation soil. In the standard method, the empirical coefficient 1.1–1.7 is multiplied on the basis of the calculation result of this method to correct the calculation error. Combined with the test results, it is shown that nanosilica powder can give full play to its excellent characteristics: promoting hydration speed and hydration degree through the reaction of pozzolan refining and consuming Ca(OH)2 crystals produced by cement hydration. Soft soils and modified soft soils: a certain amount of nanosilica powder can significantly improve the strength of soft soil at different ages.

Abstract: Feature extraction and recognition of signals are the bases of a cognitive radio. Traditional manual extraction for signals’ features becomes difficult in the complex electromagnetic environment. Although convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can extract signal features automatically, they have low accuracy in recognizing electromagnetic signals at low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) due to the agility of signals. Considering the great potential of spiking neural networks (SNNs) in classification, a spiking convolution neural network (SCNN) for the recognition of electromagnetic signals is proposed in this paper. The SCNN effectively integrates the extraction ability of spatial features in CNNs and temporal features in SNNs. Since the SCNN is difficult to train, the strategy of surrogate gradient is proposed to train it. By taking the 2-dimensional time-frequency distribution of 6 signals as input, the SCNN can effectively identify different signals at low SNRs. The method proposed in this paper contributes to promote the research and application of SNNs in the recognition of electromagnetic signals.

Abstract: Many monitoring indexes affect the health condition of foundation pits to different extents. How to use a massive on-site monitoring dataset to quantitatively assess the health of foundation pits is a problem that deserves due consideration. This paper proposes a foundation pit health assessment model based on the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method. First, factors affecting the health of foundation pits are classified by the AHP, a hierarchical factor system for foundation pit health assessment is established, and the index scale method is used to assign weights to assessment factors at different hierarchical levels. Combined with the fuzzy mathematical method, the membership functions of four health degree levels (A to D) are constructed, and the determination range of each health degree level is given to realize the quantitative calculation of the health condition from the bottom-level assessment factor to the overall foundation pit. Considering that each assessment factor involves many monitoring points and different monitoring data, a comprehensive assessment operator is also constructed to highlight the most adverse impact. Finally, the proposed model is used to perform a health assessment of an actual foundation pit project, and the variation in the foundation pit health during the entire monitoring period is obtained. The health grade of the foundation pit is determined to be B, which is a basically healthy condition consistent with the on-site inspection results.

Abstract: Reconstruction of realistic economic data often causes social economists to analyze the underlying driving factors in time-series data or to study volatility. The intrinsic complexity of time-series data interests and attracts social economists. This paper proposes the bilateral permutation entropy (BPE) index method to solve the problem based on partly ensemble empirical mode decomposition (PEEMD), which was proposed as a novel data analysis method for nonlinear and nonstationary time series compared with the T -test method. First, PEEMD is extended to the case of gold price analysis in this paper for decomposition into several independent intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), from high to low frequency. Second, IMFs comprise three parts, including a high-frequency part, low-frequency part, and the whole trend based on a fine-to-coarse reconstruction by the BPE index method and the T -test method. Then, this paper conducts a correlation analysis on the basis of the reconstructed data and the related affected macroeconomic factors, including global gold production, world crude oil prices, and world inflation. Finally, the BPE index method is evidently a vitally significant technique for time-series data analysis in terms of reconstructed IMFs to obtain realistic data.

Abstract: Shallow and thick coal seams occur extensively in hilly areas in Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province, China. The surface damage and landslides caused by shallow fully mechanized caving mining have a very serious impact on the environment. To provide a theoretical and reference foundation for mine environmental protection in hilly settings, a research on surface movement of the high-intensity fully mechanized caving mining working face with shallow thick bedrock and thin epipedon (HIFMCMWFSTBTE) is urgently needed. In this study, using the P2 working face of a mine as the research object, three surface subsidence observation lines were arranged in this working face to analyze the dynamic change characteristics of surface subsidence. Besides, the law of surface movement, mining sufficiency, fracture development and distribution characteristics, subsidence speed, and surface movement duration of HIFMCMWFSTBTE in hilly areas were comparatively studied. The research results reveal that the upper part of the slope slides towards the downhill direction under the action of tensile stress or push stress. As a result, the range of the horizontal movement towards the downhill direction of the slope and the range of surface movement both increase, and the movement angle and boundary angle both decrease compared with the plain. HIFMCMWFSTBTE is prone to serious sudden discontinuous damage. Fractures on the gully region surface develop along the contour, forming a crisscross fracture network, and the fractures are not easy to close after being generated. HIFMCMWFSTBTE in hilly areas can achieve full mining more easily than those of other geological conditions. According to the field measurement, critical full mining can be achieved in P2 working face when the ratio of mining width to mining depth is 1.07. The surface movement duration of HIFMCMWFSTBTE in hilly areas is relatively short. Considerable subsidence will occur in the active stage, and the surface subsidence is sudden and violent. The measured surface stabilization time of the P2 working face is only 20% of the calculated value in the Specification for Coal Pillar Reservation and Coal Mining under Buildings, Water Bodies, Railways, and Main Shafts (hereinafter referred to as the Specification), indicating that the specification's empirical formula is inapplicable to the calculation of surface stabilization time of the P2 working face.

Abstract: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is the most important hereditary retinal disease caused by progressive degeneration of the photoreceptor cells. This study is to identify gene mutations responsible for autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa (arRP) in a Chinese family using next-generation sequencing technology. A Chinese family with 7 members including two individuals affected with severe early-onset RP was studied. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination. Exome sequencing was performed on a single RP patient (the proband of this family) and direct Sanger sequencing on other family members and normal controls was followed to confirm the causal mutations. A homozygous mutation c.437T 〈 A (p.V146D) in the retinol dehydrogenase 12 (RDH12) gene, which encodes an NADPH-dependent retinal reductase, was identified as being related to the phenotype of this arRP family. This homozygous mutation was detected in the two affected patients, but not present in other family members and 600 normal controls. Another three normal members in the family were found to carry this heterozygous missense mutation. Our results emphasize the importance of c.437T 〈 A (p.V146D) substitution in RDH12 and provide further support for the causative role of this mutation in the pathogenesis and clinical diagnosis of RP.

Abstract: Shale reservoirs have some natural fractures with a certain density and connectivity. The basic percolation model of shale gas reservoir: the black oil model of gas-water phase is used as the basic model, and the dissolved gas is used to simulate adsorbed gas. Accurate description of natural fractures: random distributed discrete fracture model is used as the basic model to describe natural fractures. By comparing the calculation results of single medium (including random distributed discrete fracture model) and double medium model, the model for predicting shale gas productivity is optimized.

Abstract: The geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide by coal beds leads to the swelling deformation of coal. In order to investigate the swelling deformation characteristics at the microscopic scale, X-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning technology was used. X-ray CT scanning technology detects the internal structure, deformation, and porosity of coal at different gas pressures. Results show that swelling deformation is nonuniform, which is caused by the heterogeneity of the coal structure. Through quantitative measurement of the distance between fractures and pseudocolor processing of CT images, we observed that fractures gradually close with the increase of adsorption pressure. As adsorption pressure increases, the porosity of coal decreases, and the density of coal increases.
