    Abstract: The aim is to study lung cancer with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) with clinical and electrical characteristics of physiology and prognosis. Fourteen LEMS patients with lung cancer were studied retrospectively. The data including demographics, clinical presentation, treatments, and prognosis from the medical records were analyzed. Lung cancer coexisting with LEMS is more common in men (10/14). The median age was 67.1 years. Eleven (78.6%) patients experienced gradual onset of disease. Most patients presented nervous system lesions prior to occult tumors. The most common symptoms reported were proximal muscle weakness (92.9%), decreased or absent tendon reflexes (50%), and autonomic dysfunction (71.4%). All the patients showed reduction in action potential amplitude after repetitive peripheral never stimulation at low frequency and increased amplitude at high frequency. LEMS usually occurs prior to lung cancer with complicated and various clinical manifestations in our centers. We should improve awareness and knowledge of such disease to shorten the diagnostic delay and lead to few misdiagnoses.

    Abstract: The demand of embedded artificial intelligence system for powerful computing power and diversified application scenarios will inevitably bring some new problems. This paper builds the system dynamics model of embedded system based on artificial intelligence (AI). By analyzing the causal relationship between the elements of the system dynamics model, the state equation is established, and the parameters are estimated and tested. At the same time, the influence of the model simulation experiment on the relevant factors is evaluated. The simulation results show that the proposed model is effective and efficient.

    Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the optimal dose of the oral solution of the ultrasonic extract of Radix dichroae (UERD) and to provide experimental support for a safe clinical dose for anticoccidial treatment of broiler chickens. Radix dichroae root extracts were prepared using the ultrasonic extraction method. The anticoccidial activity of the oral solution prepared from the ultrasonic extract of Radix dichroae roots was tested in broiler chickens following oral infection with a field isolate of E. tenella . Ninety Lingnan yellow broiler chickens (14 days old) were randomly divided into nine groups ( n  = 10), including six UERD oral solution treatments (0.25, 0.50, 1.50, 2.50, 3.50, and 5.00%), a toltrazuril group (0.10%), an E. tenella -infected control group, and a healthy control group. All groups were inoculated orally with 7 × 10 4 sporulated E. tenella oocysts (Guangdong strain) except for the healthy control group. The chickens in the seven drug-treated groups were administered a UERD oral solution or toltrazuril in drinking water for 7 days. The anticoccidial efficacy of the UERD oral solution was evaluated by the bloody diarrhoea severity level, relative body weight gain (rBWG), lesion score, oocyst per gram (OPG), and anticoccidial index (ACI). Compared with the infected control group, there were no significant differences in the groups treated with UERD oral solution or toltrazuril with regard to the lesion changes in the caecal regions ( P 〉 0.05 ); however, the blood contents, OPG, and oocyst score in three UERD oral solution treatment groups (0.50, 1.50, and 2.50%) were significantly reduced, and the bloody diarrhoea was also alleviated. The ACI in three UERD oral solution treatment groups (0.50%, ACI = 143.7; 1.50%, ACI = 151.0; and 2.50%, ACI = 144.3) was higher than that in the toltrazuril group (ACI = 127.0), and the rBWG in the 1.50% UERD oral solution treatment group (95.0%) was similar to that in the healthy control group (100%), which was also 12.5% higher than that in the toltrazuril group (82.5%). The findings of this study demonstrated that the UERD oral solution (0.50% ~ 2.50% dose range) showed better prevention, anticoccidial efficacy, and growth promotion effects than toltrazuril (0.10%), and the 1.50% dose level of UERD oral solution in water is the clinically recommended dose according to the present study conditions.

    Abstract: Purpose . The aim of this study was to report the histopathology of failed free vascularized fibular grafting (FVFG) for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) after a mean follow-up of 11.5 years (ranged from 10.6 to 14.2 years). Methods . Six hips of 5 patients with a history of steroid use, aged 34–67 years, were in stage II of ONFH as classified by the Ficat and Arlet classification at the time of FVFG treatment. Grafting failure led to osteoarthritis of the hip joint during a mean of 11.5 years of follow-up. Femoral head specimens were first evaluated macroscopically. Bone specimens were sectioned into long strips, divided into necrotic, transitional, and healthy zones, and then prepared for nondecalcified and decalcified histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, Goldner’s trichrome staining, and immunofluorescence (IF) staining. Results . Femoral head articular cartilage surfaces appeared thin, opaque, and partially cartilaginous missing, with gradual collapse detected in weight-bearing areas. The interface with the fibular graft showed well union, with no obvious gaps between graft and host bone, as observed macroscopically. The necrotic area was filled with fibular graft, cancellous bone, and cartilaginous or soft tissue invasion. Histopathology results revealed well integration between fibular graft and host bone, with thickened trabecular bone. Gaps occurred in transitional and healthy zones. In the necrotic zone, cartilaginous or soft tissue invasion occurred, while thin or missing articular cartilage exposed subchondral bone to hip joint surfaces. By IF counterstaining with CD-31 and α -SMA, blood vessel transplanted during fibular grafting could be clearly observed along the graft from healthy to necrotic zones. In the necrotic zone, blood vessels presented obviously and spread into the surrounding area of the graft tip. Conclusion . After FVFG procedure with a mean follow-up of 11.5 years, fibular grafts retained their integrity as viable, vascularized, cortical bone that fused well with host bone and formed thickened trabecular bone surrounding the surface of the graft. However, the revascularization of FVFG’s blood vessels spreading from the tip of the fibular graft into subchondral area of necrotic lesion did not improve significantly in these failure cases. The local necrotic lesion failed to be repaired as healthy trabecular bone to buttress articular surface and was occupied by soft tissues.

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of oncostatin M (OSM) in tubulointerstitial lesion (TIL) in lupus nephritis (LN). We found that OSM was highly expressed in the renal tissue of LN mice. OSM is one of the interleukin-6 cytokine family members. In order to clarify the role and mechanism of OSM in LN, mice with LN were treated with anti-OSM antibody or isotype antibody. We evaluated the tubular epithelial-mesenchymal transdifferentiation (EMT) by detecting the E-cadherin, α -smooth muscle actin ( α -SMA), and fibronectin (FN) expression. We analyzed the inflammation by observing the monocyte chemotactic factor-1 (MCP-1) and intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) expression and calculated the tubulointerstitial fibrosis area by Masson staining. The results showed that anti-OSM antibody, rather than isotype antibody, improved EMT, inflammation, and tubulointerstitial fibrosis. In addition, the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 1 and STAT3 signaling was activated by tyrosine phosphorylation in LN mouse renal tissue, indicating that the phosphorylated STAT1 (p-STAT1) and p-STAT3 were involved in kidney injury. Moreover, decreased p-STAT3 instead of p-STAT1 has been observed after anti-OSM antibody injection. Thus, we concluded that OSM is associated with TIL in lupus nephritis, which may be connected with the activation of STAT3 rather than that of STAT1.

    Abstract: Previously, our study showed that HMGB1 was significantly elevated in the blood and located in the glomerular endothelium in LN patients. But whether extracellular HMGB1 is involved in the injury of glomerular endothelial cells (GECs) in LN still needs further investigation. Firstly, we detected the levels of SDC-1, VCAM-1, and proteinuria in LN patients and MRL/lpr mice and analyzed their correlations. Then, HMGB1 and TLR4/MyD88 were inhibited to observe the shedding of glycocalyx and injury of GECs in vivo and in vitro. Our results showed that HRGEC injury and SDC-1 shedding played an important role in the increase of permeability and proteinuria formation in LN. Additionally, inhibition of extracellular HMGB1 and/or downstream TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB/p65 signaling pathway also alleviated GEC monolayer permeability, reduced the shedding of the glomerular endothelial glycocalyx, improved the intercellular tight junction and cytoskeletal arrangement, and downregulated the NO level and VCAM-1 expression. These results suggested that extracellular HMGB1 might involve in GEC injury by activating the TLR4/MyD88 signaling pathway in LN, which provided novel insights and potential therapeutic target for the treatment of lupus nephritis.

    Abstract: In this paper, the decay law of dissolved oxygen in the culture solution of cotton in the seedling stage, bud stage, and blossoming and boll-forming stage was studied via hydroponic cotton experiments, and then, the oxygen consumption and its rule of cotton were explored. The results showed that with the increase of the cultivation time, the dissolved oxygen concentration of the cotton at seedling stage, bud stage, and blossoming and boll-forming stage showed an exponential function decrease. The dissolved oxygen concentration of the culture medium decreased from about 7.5 mg·L-1 to a relatively stable dissolved oxygen concentration, which was 4.92 mg·L-1, 1.64 mg·L-1, and 1.82 mg·L-1, respectively. When CK is about 7.1 mg·L-1, a relative equilibrium point between low oxygen absorption rate of cotton and oxygen supply is reached. The sudden drop points of the instant oxygen consumption rate of cotton seedling stage and bud stage are at about 5.15 mg·L-1 and 5.89 mg·L-1, respectively, while the sudden drop point was not obvious at the blossoming and boll-forming stage. The budding cotton can absorb oxygen when the dissolved oxygen in the culture solution is at a higher level. The blossoming and boll-forming stage cotton is more resistant to hypoxia stress.

    Abstract: Fault attack is an efficient cryptanalysis method against cipher implementations and has attracted a lot of attention in recent public cryptographic literatures. In this work we introduce a fault attack on the CAESAR candidate ACORN v2. Our attack is done under the assumption of random fault injection into an initial state of ACORN v2 and contains two main steps: fault locating and equation solving. At the first step, we first present a fundamental fault locating method, which uses 99-bit output keystream to determine the fault injected location with probability 97.08 % . And then several improvements are provided, which can further increase the probability of fault locating to almost 1. As for the system of equations retrieved at the first step, we give two solving methods at the second step, that is, linearization and guess-and-determine. The time complexity of our attack is not larger than c · 2 179.19 - 1.76 N at worst, where N is the number of fault injections such that 31 ≤ N ≤ 88 and c is the time complexity of solving linear equations. Our attack provides some insights into the diffusion ability of such compact stream ciphers.

    Abstract: Objective. To assess the effects of dietary white meat (grass carp and chicken) and red meat (pork and beef) on metabolic parameters, including the intestinal microbiota and its metabolites (SCFAs and bile acids) in NAFLD rats induced by high-fat diet. Methods. NAFLD rats were randomly assigned to five groups: NAFLD group, grass carp group, chicken group, pork group, and beef group (10 rats in each group), and these rats were fed for 8 weeks using the high-fat diet, grass carp-based diet, chicken-based diet, pork-based diet, and beef-based diet, respectively. At the end of the intervention, NAFLD-related metabolic indexes, intestinal flora, and its metabolites were measured. Results. The grass carp-based diet significantly improved hepatic pathological changes and glycolipid metabolism, and the chicken-based diet only partially improved the metabolic parameters. However, NAFLD progression was observed in the pork group and the beef group. What is more, the white meat-based diet-mediated changes in the enrichment of beneficial bacteria (such as Lactobacillus or Akkermansia), SCFAs, and unconjugated BAs (such as UDCA) and the depletion of pathogenic bacteria (such as Bilophila and Prevotella_9) and conjugated BAs were observed, while the red meat-based diet-induced changes in the enrichment of pathogenic bacteria (Prevotella_9 or Lachnospiraceae_UCG-010) and conjugated BAs and the depletion of SCFAs and unconjugated BAs were found. Conclusion. The dietary white meat and red meat modulating gut microbiota and its metabolites may favor and aggravate NAFLD in rats, respectively.
