Abstract: On October 11 and November 3, 2018, the disaster chain of landslide-barrier lake occurred twice in Baige Village, Xizang Province. After the second sliding of the landslide, the danger of the landslide dam was eliminated by the manual excavation of the drain grooves. During this period, a ground-based interferometric synthetic aperture radar (GB-InSAR) called “S-SAR” was utilized for real-time monitoring and analyzing 48 selected target pixels on the residual deformation bodies of landslides (divided into K1, K2, and K3 deformation zones) for 8 days. Through the real-time deformation map of pixels in the monitoring area obtained by S-SAR, the ranges of five strong deformation regions were identified and delineated. Based on the apparent cumulative deformation-time curve of each target pixel, the overall deformation law of K1, K2, and K3 deformation zones could be monitored and analyzed in real time. Based on a curve graph of the deformation rate, acceleration, and time of each target pixel, the K1, K2, and K3 deformation zones were within a uniform deformation stage. Taking the target pixel point and the corresponding time in which the deformation rate and deformation acceleration had a large, abrupt jump at the same time as the position and time of the near-slip failure, the 11 positions and moments of the near-slip failure were counted. The results presented here may represent a workable reference for emergency monitoring and early warning of similar sudden geological disasters.

Abstract: Background . Adenosine, derived from the degradation of ATP via ectonucleotidases CD39 and CD73, is a critical immunosuppressive metabolite in the hypoxic microenvironment of tumor tissue. Adenosine signaling via A2aR can inhibit the antitumor immune response of CD8 + T cells. CD39 and CD73 high-expressing Tregs play a critical role in tumor immune evasion of gastric cancer (GC). The present study investigated the underlying mechanism by which Tregs suppress antitumor immune responses in GC. Materials and Methods . Fifty-two GC samples were collected, and the frequency of FoxP3 + Tregs and CD8 + T cells and density ratios of A2aR + /CD8 + T cells, CD39 + /FoxP3 + Tregs, and CD73 + /FoxP3 + Tregs in GC were assessed with multiplex immunofluorescence. The expression of FoxP3 and A2aR in GC tissues was also detected by the immunoblotting assay. We next investigated the relationship between density of FoxP3 + Tregs, ratio of A2aR + /CD8 + T cells, and clinicopathological parameters. At the same time, Tregs and CD8 + T cells were isolated from peripheral blood of five GC patients, and the antagonists of CD39 and CD73 were used to assess the ability of Tregs to decompose ATP into adenosine. In addition, we cocultured CD8 + T cells and Tregs with antagonists of A 2a R and A 2b R in order to examine the alterations in immune function of CD8 + T cells. Results . The density of both FoxP3 + Tregs and A2aR + /CD8 + T cells was higher in GC tissue compared to peritumoral normal tissue and significantly correlated with the TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis of GC. The process of Treg hydrolysis of ATP into adenosine was blocked by the antagonists of CD39 and CD73. In addition, Tregs could induce apoptosis and inhibit proliferation of CD8 + T cells, while this effect could be obviously reduced by applying the antagonist of A 2a R or A 2a R + A 2b R. Moreover, IFN- γ , TNF- α , and perforin generated by CD8 + T cells could also be inhibited through the adenosine A2aR pathway. Conclusions . The FoxP3 + Tregs and A2aR + /CD8 + T cells were excessively infiltrated in GC tissue. Tregs from GC can decompose ATP to adenosine and in turn induce apoptosis and inhibit the proliferation of CD8 + T cells through the A2aR pathway, further leading to immune escape of GC.

Abstract: Background . Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is widely applied in the clinical practice of neck pain owing to cervical radiculopathy (CR). While many systematic reviews exist in CAM to improve CR, research is distributed across population, intervention, comparison, and setting. Objective . This overview aims to summarize the characteristics and evaluate critically the evidence from systematic reviews. Methods . A comprehensive literature search was performed in the six databases without language restrictions on February 24, 2015. We had identified relevant systematic reviews that examined the subjects with neck pain due to cervical radiculopathy undergoing CAM. Two authors independently appraised the methodological quality using the revised assessment of multiple systematic reviews instrument. Results . We had included eight systematic reviews. The effectiveness and safety of acupotomy, acupuncture, Jingfukang granule, manual therapies, and cervical spine manipulation were investigated. Based on available evidence, the systematic reviews supported various forms of CAM for CR. Nevertheless, the methodological quality for most of systematic reviews was low or moderate. In addition, adverse reactions of primary studies were infrequent. Conclusions . Current systematic reviews showed potential advantages to CAM for CR. Due to the frequently poor methodological quality of primary studies, the conclusions should be treated with caution for clinical practice.

Abstract: Objective . This paper systematically assessed the efficacy and safety of Jingtong granule (JG) for cervical radiculopathy (CR). Methods . Randomized controlled trials comparing JG with no intervention, placebo, or conventional therapies were retrieved. The trials testing JG combined with conventional therapies versus conventional therapies were also enrolled. Study selection, methodological assessment, data extraction, and analysis were conducted in accordance with the Cochrane standards. The strength of evidence was evaluated according to GRADE approach. Results . Three trials with 400 participants were included. Methodological quality was evaluated as generally low. One study found that JG showed significant difference on decreasing pain scores compared with placebo. Meta-analysis indicated that JG plus conventional analgesic exhibited a significant immediate effect on the pain scores (WMD = 1.63; 95% CI: 1.29 to 1.98; P 〈 0.00001 ). Additionally, JG combined with analgesic presented beneficial immediate effect on neck disability index. However, the treatment effects of JG demonstrated in the trials were not large, and the safety of JG was unproven. Finally the evidence level was evaluated to be low. Conclusions . Our results indicated that JG showed some potential benefits for CR. Nevertheless, treatment effects are uncertain due to both the methodological concerns and the very modest reported improvements.

Abstract: Background. Alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD) is the first stage of the alcoholic liver disease course. Yin-Chen-Hao-Tang (YCHT) has a good clinical effect on the treatment of AFLD, but its molecular mechanism has not been elucidated. In this study, we tried to explore the molecular mechanism of YCHT in improving hepatocyte steatosis in AFLD mice through network pharmacology and RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) transcriptomics. Methods. Network pharmacological methods were used to analyze the potential therapeutic signaling pathways and targets of YCHT on AFLD. Then, the AFLD mice model was induced and YCHT was administered concurrently. Liver injury was measured by serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity and liver tissue H & E staining, and liver steatosis was determined by serum triglyceride (TG) level and liver tissue Oil Red staining. The molecular mechanism of YCHT on prevention and treatment of mice AFLD was investigated according to the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis of the differential expression genes data obtained by liver tissue RNA-Seq. Finally, ethanol-induced AFLD AML12 hepatocyte model was established, YCHT with or without PPARα agonist pemafibrate or PPARγ inhibitor GW9662 was administered, Nile Red fluorescent staining was used to evaluate steatosis levels in AML12 hepatocytes, and qRT-PCR was used to detect PPARα and PPARγ gene expression. Results. The results of network pharmacology analysis showed that YCHT may exert its pharmacological effect on AFLD through 312 potential targets which are involved in many signaling pathways including the PPAR signaling pathway. AFLD mice experiments results showed that YCHT markedly decreased mice serum ALT activity and serum TG levels. YCHT also significantly improved alcohol-induced hepatic injury and steatosis in mice livers. Furthermore, KEGG pathway enrichment results of RNA-Seq showed that the PPAR signaling pathway should be the most relevant pathway of YCHT in the prevention and treatment of AFLD. AFLD hepatocyte model experiment results showed that YCHT could remarkably reduce hepatocyte steatosis through reducing PPARγ expression and increasing PPARα expression. Conclusions. Our study discovered that PPARγ and PPARα are the key targets and the PPAR signaling pathway is the main signaling pathway for YCHT to prevent and treat AFLD.

Abstract: The laboratory generation and diagnosis of uniform near-critical-density (NCD) plasmas play critical roles in various studies and applications, such as fusion science, high energy density physics, astrophysics as well as relativistic electron beam generation. Here we successfully generated the quasistatic NCD plasma sample by heating a low-density tri-cellulose acetate (TCA) foam with the high-power-laser-driven hohlraum radiation. The temperature of the hohlraum is determined to be 20 eV by analyzing the spectra obtained with the transmission grating spectrometer. The single-order diffraction grating was employed to eliminate the high-order disturbance. The temperature of the heated foam is determined to be T = 16.8 ± 1.1 eV by analyzing the high-resolution spectra obtained with a flat-field grating spectrometer. The electron density of the heated foam is about N e = 4.0 ± 0.3 × 10 20 cm − 3 under the reasonable assumption of constant mass density.

Abstract: The peach tree, Prunus persica (L.) Batsch, is widely cultivated in China, and its flowers have been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine to treat gut motility disorders. But few studies have explored the pharmacological effect of Prunus persica (L.) Batsch flowers on gastrointestinal motility. In this study, the activities of different extracts from Prunus persica (L.) Batsch flowers on the smooth muscle contractions were evaluated using isolated colon model, and the ethyl acetate extract (EAE) showed the strongest effects in vitro. EAE (10 −8 –10 −5  g/mL) caused a concentration-dependent stimulatory effect in rat colonic tissue. Additionally, ketotifen (100  µ M), cimetidine (10  µ M), and pyrilamine (1  µ M) produced a significant inhibition of contractions caused by EAE. Furthermore, immunofluorescence and toluidine blue staining revealed increased numbers of mast cells in the EAE group, and EAE increased histamine release from the colonic tissues. These data indicate that EAE has significant prokinetic activity and acts by a mechanism that mainly involves mast cell degranulation. Our study provides a pharmacological basis for the use of an extract of Prunus persica (L.) Batsch flowers in the treatment of gut motility disorders.

Abstract: In recent years, many synthetic natural gas demonstration projects have been put into operation all over the world, and hydrogen is usually contained in synthetic natural gas. X80 is the most commonly used high-grade pipeline steel in the construction of natural gas pipelines. The compatibility between high-grade pipeline steel and hydrogen directly affects safety and reliability of long-distance pipelines. Therefore, in order to study the effect of hydrogen content on fatigue properties of high-grade pipeline steel, fatigue specimens were taken from base metal, spiral welds, and girth weld of submerged arc spiral welded pipes, respectively. Specifically, the total pressure was 12 MPa and hydrogen content was from 0 to 5vol%. Experimental results indicate that the hydrogen significantly increases the fatigue crack growth rate for both base metal, spiral weld, and heat-affected zone of X80 pipeline steel for about ten times compared with reference environment nitrogen, hydrogen would greatly reduce the fatigue life of the X80 pipeline steel, and the fatigue lifetime would decrease with the increase in hydrogen volume fraction. In order to ensure the safe operation of SNG pipeline, the hydrogen content should be controlled as low as possible.

Abstract: Purpose . To explore the potential of diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for predicting the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods and Materials . Ninety-two consecutive patients with NPC who underwent three cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy were retrospectively analyzed. DW and anatomical MRI were performed before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to radiotherapy. Pretreatment ADCs and percentage increases in ADC after chemotherapy were calculated for the primary lesions and metastatic adenopathies. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to select optimal pretreatment ADCs. Results . Pretreatment mean ADCs were significantly lower for responders than for nonresponders (primary lesions, P = 0.012 ; metastatic adenopathies, P = 0.013 ). Mean percentage increases in ADC were higher for responders than for nonresponders (primary lesions, P = 0.008 ; metastatic adenopathies, P 〈 0.001 ). The optimal pretreatment primary lesion and metastatic adenopathy ADCs for differentiating responders from nonresponders were 0.897 × 10 −3  mm 2 /sec and 1.031 × 10 −3  mm 2 /sec, respectively. Conclusions . NPC patients with low pretreatment ADCs tend to respond better to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Pretreatment ADCs could be used as a new pretreatment imaging biomarker of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
