Abstract: HD-Zip proteins represent the major transcription factors in higher plants, playing essential roles in plant development and stress responses. Foxtail millet is a crop to investigate the systems biology of millet and biofuel grasses and the HD-Zip gene family has not been studied in foxtail millet. For further investigation of the expression profile of the HD-Zip gene family in foxtail millet, a comprehensive genome-wide expression analysis was conducted in this study. We found 47 protein-encoding genes in foxtail millet using BLAST search tools; the putative proteins were classified into four subfamilies, namely, subfamilies I, II, III, and IV. Gene structure and motif analysis indicate that the genes in one subfamily were conserved. Promotor analysis showed that HD-Zip gene was involved in abiotic stress. Duplication analysis revealed that 8 (~17%) hdz genes were tandemly duplicated and 28 (58%) were segmentally duplicated; purifying duplication plays important roles in gene expansion. Microsynteny analysis revealed the maximum relationship in foxtail millet-sorghum and foxtail millet-rice. Expression profiling upon the abiotic stresses of drought and high salinity and the biotic stress of ABA revealed that some genes regulated responses to drought and salinity stresses via an ABA-dependent process, especially sihdz29 and sihdz45. Our study provides new insight into evolutionary and functional analyses of HD-Zip genes involved in environmental stress responses in foxtail millet.

Abstract: Background . Tuberculosis (TB) is an endemic disease in Guizhou. Spinal TB accounts for approximately 50% cases of skeletal TB. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics and management of patients treated for spinal TB in a certain hospital and to provide guidance for the prevention and treatment of spinal TB. Methods . The clinic records of all patients diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis in a teaching hospital between January 2010 and December 2018 were collected. The epidemiology, clinical characteristics, imaging and laboratory findings, treatment methods, and prognosis were recorded and analyzed. Results . During this nine-year period, 597 patients with spinal TB were identified. There were 313 males and 284 females with an average age of 43 years. The largest number of patients fell in the age group of 21–30 years; mean time from symptom onset to diagnosis in the hospital was 17 months. Back pain was the main clinical manifestation (89.34%). The most common imaging technique was computed tomography (CT, 96.80%), followed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI, 84.01%). Majority of the lesions involved the lumbar spine (47.30%), followed by the thoracic spine (40.95%). 178 (29.82%) patients in this study had varying degrees of neurological impairment. 22.78% of the patients selected conservative treatment, and surgical treatment was performed in 483 patients (80.90%). Conclusions . The incidence of spinal TB was generally on the rise throughout the study period. After diagnosed with spinal TB, all patients got appropriate treatment and achieved good efficacy, but most of the patients did not pay much attention to the disease and receive timely treatment. Thus, it is essential to strengthen the TB preventive strategies, improve the health awareness of residents and universal resident health examination.

Abstract: Background. Autophagy is considered to be closely associated with cancer, functioning as either an anticancer or procancer mechanism depending on the cancer stage. However, the prognostic value of autophagy on papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) remains unclear. In this study, our purpose was to determine the autophagy-related mRNA signature to predict the overall survival of patients with pRCC. Materials and Methods. A total of 284 patients with pathologic confirmed pRCC in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset were recruited and included. We choose patients who have smoked less than 15 years but staging 3 or 4 (including nontobacco exposure) vs. more than 15 years but staging 1 or 2. Fourteen differentially expressed mRNAs were found with fold   change 〉 2 and P value 〈 0.001 through limma package after making a pair between nontobacco exposure or less than 15 years and tobacco exposure more than 15 years by matchIt package. Results. Six mRNAs were identified to be significantly associated with overall survival. Then, using a risk score based on the signature of these six mRNAs, we divided the patients into low-risk and high-risk groups with significantly different OS. Further multivariate Cox regression analyses revealed that the 6-mRNA signature was independent of age, TNM stage, and tumor type. In the present study, a novel 6-mRNA signature that is useful in survival prediction in pRCC patients was developed. If validated, this mRNA signature might assist in selecting high-risk subpopulation that needs more aggressive therapeutic intervention. The risk score involved in several cancer-related pathways was identified using gene set enrichment analysis. Conclusion. We initially generated a six autophagy-related genes’ signature, which correlates with AJCC N stage, tumor type, and pathological stage and independently predicts OS.

Abstract: Due to the influence of the ground stress, mining disturbance, and other factors, the roadway surrounding rock in deep underground engineering such as mines, tunnels, and underground caverns is prone to looseness and deformation with the excavation of roadways. In such engineering, the bolt support is frequently employed to stabilize the surrounding rock. In this work, a part of the anchor and the surrounding rock were taken as a simplified model of the anchorage rock mass, and the laboratory compression test was performed on the similitude model. Then, the FLAC3D software was used to simulate varying numbers of bolts and different lateral pressure conditions, and the peak stress, the maximum principal stress field, and the anchor stress field distribution of the anchorage rock mass were obtained. The influence of bolt pretightening force and row spacing on the stability of surrounding rock was discussed using the combined arch theory. The results show that increasing the number of bolts and lateral pressure in the anchorage rock mass can significantly improve the stress value and distribution range of the maximum principal stress field and the anchorage stress field. The fluctuation of the anchorage stress field at different anchorage distances can be lessened by increasing the number of bolts (bolt density). When the lateral pressure exceeds 3 MPa, the anchorage mechanical characteristics of the anchorage rock mass tend to remain stable. The coverage of the effective anchorage stress field and the thickness of the surrounding rock anchorage composite arch can be increased by increasing the bolt pretightening force and decreasing row spacing, consequently improving the anchorage mechanical characteristics of the anchorage rock mass. The research results can be used as a theoretical reference for choosing appropriate bolt support parameters for the roadway surrounding rock.

Abstract: A network structure (DRSN-GAN) is proposed for image motion deblurring that combines a deep residual shrinkage network (DRSN) with a generative adversarial network (GAN) to address the issues of poor noise immunity and low generalizability in deblurring algorithms based solely on GANs. First, an end-to-end approach is used to recover a clear image from a blurred image, without the need to estimate a blurring kernel. Next, a DRSN is used as the generator in a GAN to remove noise from the input image while learning residuals to improve robustness. The BN and ReLU layers in the DRSN were moved to the front of the convolution layer, making the network easier to train. Finally, deblurring performance was verified using the GoPro, Köhler, and Lai datasets. Experimental results showed that deblurred images were produced with more subjective visual effects and a higher objective evaluation, compared with algorithms such as MPRNet. Furthermore, image edge and texture restoration effects were improved along with image quality. Our model produced slightly higher PSNR and SSIM values than the latest MPRNet, as well as increased YOLO detection accuracy. The number of required parameters in the DRSN-GAN was also reduced by 21.89%.

Abstract: Background. The relationship between H. pylori infection and gastric cancer (GC) has been widely studied, and H. pylori is considered as the main factor. Utilizing bioinformatics analysis, this study examined gene signatures related to progressing H. pylori-associated GC. Materials and Methods. The dataset GSE13195 was chosen to search for abnormally expressed genes in H. pylori-associated GC and normal tissues. The TCGA-STAD database was chosen to verify the expression of key genes in GC and normal tissues. Results. In GSE13195, a total of 332 differential expression genes (DEGs) were screened. The results of weighted gene co-expression network analysis showed that the light cyan, plum2, black, and magenta4 modules were associated with stages (T3, T2, and T4), while the orangered4, salmon2, pink, and navajowhite2 modules were correlated with lymph node metastasis (N3, N2, and N0). Based on the results of DEGs and hub genes, a total of 7 key genes (ADAM28, FCER1G, MRPL14, SOSTDC1, TYROBP, C1QC, and C3) were screened out. These gene mRNA levels were able to distinguish between normal and H. pylori-associated GC tissue using receiver operating characteristic curves. After transcriptional level verification and survival analysis, ADAM28 and C1QC were excluded. An immune infiltration study revealed that key genes were involved in regulating the infiltration levels of cells associated with innate immune response, antigen presentation process, humoral immune response, or Tcell-mediated immune response. In addition, drugs targeting FCER1G and TYROBP have been approved and are under investigation. Conclusion. Our study identified five key genes involved in H. pylori-associated GC tumorigenesis. Patients with higher levels of C3 expression had a poorer prognosis than those with lower levels. In addition, these key genes may serve as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for H. pylori-associated GC diagnosis, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy in the future.

Abstract: The current research results indicate that the insulator’s insulation performance has a very important influence on the back-flashover lightning withstand performance of UHVDC transmission lines, especially for ±800 kV voltage level. However, it is not clear which factors will influence the insulation performance of the insulator, and the influencing mechanism is also not clear yet. To figure out this problem, the insulator’s insulation performance under different conditions has been deeply analyzed and considered to reveal the influence mechanism in this paper, such as the surface hydrophobicity, pollution degree, and the string type. Firstly, the insulator’s model is established using COMSOL software, and the lightning impulse voltage of insulator is calculated and verified with the corresponding experimental data. Then, the ±800 kV UHVDC transmission lines model is constructed using PSCAD software, and back-flashover lightning withstand level and back-flashover rate are calculated by considering the above lightning impulse voltage as the threshold of flashover. Finally, the back-flashover lightning withstand performance of ±800 kV UHVDC transmission lines is deeply analyzed based on different insulators. The simulation results demonstrate that the back-flashover lightning withstand performance of ±800 kV UHVDC transmission lines is obviously weakened with the increase of the pollution degree and slightly weakened with the decrease of the surface hydrophobicity. Considering the same pollution degree, the V-type string insulator has the least influence, while the II-type string insulator has the greatest influences on the back-flashover lightning withstand performance of ±800 kV UHVDC transmission lines. The research results are beneficial for providing theoretical basis for stable operation and reliable power supply of ±800 kV UHVDC transmission lines.

Abstract: With the improvement of people's living standards, people's pursuit of clothing is becoming more and more diverse. As the main way to shape the external curve of the human body and reflect the texture of clothing materials, pleating technology is widely used in clothing. Different wrinkle expression techniques can often be seen in garment production and press conferences. Many designers are inseparable from the use of folding technology in their creation. The decoration of clothing is also constantly enriched. Diversified and multitype fabrics will bring great differences and influence to clothing and even affect the trend. Based on the computer animation technology, through the analysis of the principle of three-dimensional folds, this paper explores the formation of geometric patterns from two-dimensional plane fabric laying to three-dimensional, mainly through the techniques of pleating, kneading, lattice pleating, and pleating, so as to knead, stack or stack the fabrics orderly or randomly and naturally. The folded intersection area and nonfolded area are formed to form the basis of three-dimensional geometric folds. The simulation results show that the computer animation technology can effectively support the three-dimensional fold garment pattern design, select different materials for regional folding, present obvious three-dimensional geometric pattern folds, understand the expression forms of folds, and explain the application of folds in garment design, so as to provide some reference for fold garment design.

Abstract: The repair of bone defects is a big challenge in reconstructive surgery. Periosteal distraction osteogenesis (PDO), as a promising technique used for bone regeneration, forms a space between the periosteum and bone cortex to regenerate the new bone merely by distracting the periosteum. In order to investigate the influence of distractor framework on the PDO, we utilized three-dimensional (3D) printing technology to fabricate three kinds of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) scaffolds with different pore sizes in this study. The in vitro experiments showed that the customized PLLA scaffolds had different-sized microchannels with low toxicity, good biocompatibility, and enough mechanical strength. Then, we built up an in vivo bioreactor under the skull periosteum of New Zealand white rabbits. The distractors with different pore sizes all could satisfy the demand of periosteal distraction in the animal experiments. After 8 weeks of consolidation period, the quality and quantity of the newly formed bone were improved with the increasing pore sizes of the distractors. Moreover, the newly formed bone also displayed an increasing degree of vascularization. In conclusion, 3D printing technology could promote the innovation of PDO devices and fabricate optimized scaffolds with appropriate pore sizes, shapes, and structures. It would help us regenerate more functional tissue-engineered bone and provide new ideas for further clinical application of the PDO technique.
