Description:
The muscle systems of Pontogenia chrysocoma (Aphroditidae), Thalenessa stylolepis (Sigalionidae), Glycera tesselata (Glyceridae), Arabella iricolor and Lumbrineris fragilis (Eunicidae sens. lat.), all of which inhabitate the same biotope (soft bottom) exhibit distinct differences. They show, however, always great similarities with the musculature of related species of the same genus or family, which frequently are living on completely different substrates. Therefore, it is concluded that the biotope has a negligible modifying effect on the muscle system.
