    Abstract: To investigate the association between pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational depressive phenotypes. Methods The pregnant women receiving the first prenatal examination (4th –13th week of gestation) in Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children were recruited between February 2020 and September 2021. Depressive phenotypes was assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) scale at recruitment. Pre-pregnancy weight and height were self-reported by the participants. Demographic and obstetric characteristics were obtained from the hospital information system. The association between pre-pregnancy BMI and the scores of PHQ-9 or SCL-90 scale was investigated by uni-variate analysis with Kruskal-Wallis test and by multi-variate analysis with linear regression model with adjustment of age, parity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and assisted reproduction. The association between pre-pregnancy BMI and PHQ-9 or SCL-90 diagnosed depressive phenotypes was analyzed by Chi-square test and logistic regression respectively. Results A total of 12,099 pregnant women were included, where 100% of them filled out the PHQ-9 scale and 99.6% filled out the SCL-90 scale, and 47.26% and 4.62% of the pregnant women had depressive phenotypes, respectively. Women with higher pre-pregnancy BMI had lower depressive phenotypes scores during pregnancy. Multivariable analysis of the PHQ-9 scale showed that overweight/obese subjects had a higher incidence of depressive phenotypes compared with subjects with normal BMI (OR=0.803, 95% CI [0.723, 0.892]). In a stratified analysis assessed by the PHQ-9, women who were overweight/obese prior to pregnancy were less likely to develop depressive phenotypes during pregnancy than women who were normal weight prior to pregnancy, regardless of whether they were nulliparous (OR=0.795, 95%CI[0.696,0.908] ) or multiparous (OR=0.809, 95%CI[0.0.681,0.962]), while in the three age groups of 25-29 years, 30-34 years and ≥35 years, pre-pregnancy overweight/obesity were associated with lower risk of gestational depressive phenotypes. However, analysis of the SCL-90 scale showed no statistical association between depressive symptom and BMI. No substantial interaction was observed between BMI and parity or age. Conclusions Increased pre-pregnancy BMI may be associated with reduced risk of gestational depressive phenotypes in Chinese women. Independent studies are warranted to validate the findings of the present study.

    Abstract: There have been many researches done on the association between maternal exposure to ambient air pollution and adverse pregnancy outcomes, but few studies related to very low birth weight (VLBW). This study thus explores the association between maternal exposure to ambient air pollutants and the risk of VLBW, and estimates the sensitive exposure time window. Methods A retrospective cohort study analyzed in Chongqing, China, during 2015–2020. The Generalized Additive Model were applied to estimate exposures for each participant during each trimester and the entire pregnancy period. Results For each 10 μg/m 3 increase in PM 2.5 during pregnancy, the relative risk of VLBW increased on the first trimester, with RR = 1.100 (95% CI: 1.012, 1.195) in the single-pollutant model. Similarly, for each 10 μg/m 3 increase in PM 10 , there was a 12.9% (RR = 1.129, 95% CI: 1.055, 1.209) increase for VLBW on the first trimester in the single-pollutant model, and an 11.5% (RR = 1.115, 95% CI: 1.024, 1.213) increase in the multi-pollutant model, respectively. The first and second trimester exposures of NO 2 were found to have statistically significant RR values for VLBW. The RR values on the first trimester were 1.131 (95% CI: 1.037, 1.233) and 1.112 (95% CI: 1.015, 1.218) in the single-pollutant model and multi-pollutant model, respectively; The RR values on the second trimester were 1.129 (95% CI: 1.027, 1.241) and 1.146 (95% CI: 1.038, 1.265) in the single-pollutant model and multi-pollutant model, respectively. The RR of O3 exposure for VLBW on the entire trimester was 1.076 (95% CI: 1.010–1.146), and on the second trimester was 1.078 (95% CI: 1:016, 1.144) in the single-pollutant model. Conclusion This study indicates that maternal exposure to high levels of PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO 2 , and O 3 during pregnancy may increase the risk of very low birth weight, especially for exposure on the first and second trimester. Reducing the risk of early maternal exposure to ambient air pollution is thus necessary for pregnant women.

    Abstract: The basin-mountain transition regions of foreland basins are hot spots for hydrocarbon exploration worldwide, while the complex geological features and hydrocarbon accumulation rules make hydrocarbon exploration very difficult. The Northwestern Sichuan Basin is a typical case where the unclear distribution rules restrict the further exploration of natural gas. In this study, geochemistry and seismic profile data were comprehensively used to reveal the main factors controlling hydrocarbon accumulation in the Northwestern Sichuan Basin. The Lower Cambrian and the Upper- Middle Permian source rocks have different carbon isotope compositions, indicating that they have different kerogen types, sapropelic kerogen for the Lower Cambrian source rocks, mixed kerogen for the Middle Permian source rocks and humic kerogen for the Upper Permian source rocks. The Northwestern Sichuan Basin can be divided into the unfaulted belt, the thrust front belt and the thrust nappe belt. The thrust nappe belt develops many large thrust faults, and the natural gas there mainly originates from the Lower Cambrian source rocks. However, due to different denudation of regional caprocks, hydrocarbons in the area adjacent to the Longmen Mountain fold-and-thrust system were destroyed, while in the area adjacent to the thrust front belt, they had good preservation conditions. The thrust front belt and the unfaulted belt develop a few or few thrust faults, and the natural gas there mainly originates from the Upper-Middle Permian source rocks and has good preservation conditions due to no denudation of regional caprocks. The distribution of thrust faults controls the natural gas origins in different areas, and the preservation conditions determine whether the gas reservoirs can survive to the present. These conclusions can provide guidance for natural gas exploration in the Northwestern Sichuan Basin and other basin-mountain transition regions in foreland basins worldwide.

    Abstract: Previous studies from our group and other investigators have shown that lung involvement is one of the independent predictors for treatment resistance in patients with myeloperoxidase (MPO)–anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (MPO-AAV). However, it is unclear which image features of lung involvement can predict the therapeutic response in MPO-AAV patients, which is vital in decision-making for these patients. Our aim was to develop and validate a radiomics nomogram to predict treatment resistance of Chinese MPO-AAV patients based on low-dose multiple slices computed tomography (MSCT) of the involved lung with cohorts from two centers. Methods A total of 151 MPO-AAV patients with lung involvement (MPO-AAV-LI) from two centers were enrolled. Two different models (Model 1: radiomics signature; Model 2: radiomics nomogram) were built based on the clinical and MSCT data to predict the treatment resistance of MPO-AAV with lung involvement in training and test cohorts. The performance of the models was assessed using the area under the curve (AUC). The better model was further validated. A nomogram was constructed and evaluated by DCA and calibration curves, which further tested in all enrolled data and compared with the other model. Results Model 2 had a higher predicting ability than Model 1 both in training (AUC: 0.948 vs. 0.824; p = 0.039) and test cohorts (AUC: 0.913 vs. 0.898; p = 0.043). As a better model, Model 2 obtained an excellent predictive performance (AUC: 0.929; 95% CI: 0.827–1.000) in the validation cohort. The DCA curve demonstrated that Model 2 was clinically feasible. The calibration curves of Model 2 closely aligned with the true treatment resistance rate in the training ( p = 0.28) and test sets ( p = 0.70). In addition, the predictive performance of Model 2 (AUC: 0.929; 95% CI: 0.875–0.964) was superior to Model 1 (AUC: 0.862; 95% CI: 0.796–0.913) and serum creatinine (AUC: 0.867; 95% CI: 0.802–0.917) in all patients (all p & lt; 0.05). Conclusion The radiomics nomogram (Model 2) is a useful, non-invasive tool for predicting the treatment resistance of MPO-AAV patients with lung involvement, which might aid in individualizing treatment decisions.

    Abstract: Menopausal depression perplexes a great number of women in later life. Xiangfu-Zisu (Xiang-Su), a traditional Chinese herbal pair composed of rhizomes of Cyperus rotundus L. (Xiangfu) and leaves of Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. (Zisu), is frequently reported with antidepressant-like effects. The volatile oil from Xiangfu and Zisu has shown good antidepressant action, but its mechanism is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Xiang-Su (XS) volatile oil against menopausal depression through gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS)-based network pharmacology and metabolomics. First, ADME screening was performed on actual detected components of XS volatile oil to obtain active constituents, and then duplicates of active constituent–related targets and menopausal depression–related targets were collected. These duplicates were considered as targets for XS volatile oil against menopausal depression, followed by GO and KEGG enrichment analyses. It showed that a total of 64 compounds were identified in XS volatile oil, and 38 active compounds were screened out. 42 overlapping genes between 144 compound-related genes and 780 menopausal depression–related genes were obtained. Results showed that targets of SLC6A4 and SLC6A3 , regulation of serotonergic and dopaminergic synapses, were involved in the antidepressant mechanism of XS volatile oil. Next, antidepressant-like effect of XS volatile oil was validated in menopausal rats by ovariectomy (OVX) combined with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). Behavioral tests, biochemical analysis, and GC-MS–based non-targeted plasma metabolomics were employed to validate the antidepressant effect of XS volatile oil. Experimental evidence demonstrated that XS volatile oil reversed behavioral parameters in the sucrose preference test (SPT), open-field test (OFT), forced swim test (FST), and serum estradiol levels in OVX rats. Furthermore, results of metabolomics indicated that XS volatile oil mainly acts on regulating metabolic pathways of phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis, tyrosine metabolism, and tryptophan metabolism, which were corresponding with the above-predicted results. These data suggest that network pharmacology combined with metabolomics provides deep insight into the antidepressant effect of XS volatile oil, which includes regulating key targets like SLC6A4 and SLC6A3 , and pathways of serotonergic and dopaminergic synapses.

    Abstract: Exploring durable and highly-active non-noble-metal nanomaterials to supersede Pt-based nanomaterials is an effective way, which can reduce the cost and boost the catalytic efficiency of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Herein, we constructed atomically-dispersed Mn atoms on the ZIF-derived nitrogen-doped carbon frameworks (Mn-N x /NC) by stepwise pyrolysis. The Mn-N x /NC relative to pure nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) exhibited superior electrocatalytic activity with a higher half-wave potential ( E 1/2 = 0.88 V) and a modest Tafel slope (90 mV dec −1 ) toward ORR. The enhanced ORR performance of Mn-N x /NC may be attributed to the existence of Mn-N x active sites, which can more easily adsorb intermediates, promoting the efficiency of ORR. This work provides a facile route to synthesize single-atom catalysts for ORR.

    Abstract: Electromagnetic response of clustered charged particles is the foundation of electromagnetic wave interaction with various natural phenomena, such as sandstorm, cloud, and volcano eruption. Previous studies usually employed assumption of independent charged particles, without considering the coupling between them. Here, we build up a general numerical model considering the multiple scattering effect, and test it with a charged two- and four-particle system. The numerical results show that independence assumption fails, while the number density of clustered charged particles is getting larger. This work may pave the way for deeper understanding on the electromagnetic interaction of clustered charged particles.

    Abstract: Oxycodone hydrochloride is a semisynthetic narcotic analgesic agent. This study aimed to explore optimal titration strategy of controlled-release (CR) oxycodone hydrochloride in patients with cancer pain. Methods 258 patients, who used regular strong opioids (morphine and CR oxycodone hydrochloride) for cancer pain across 25 three grade class hospitals in China during January 15th 2017 to April 30th 2017, were retrospectively studied. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to treatment regimens titrated. The pain remission rate and numeric rating scale (NRS) of cancer pain was recorded at 0, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 h after opioid titration. The incidence of adverse events (AEs) with therapy were also observed. Results 12 h after treatment, pain remission rate of Group B, C and D was significantly higher ( P & lt; 0.001) than Group A. For the complete remission rate, there were also significant differences among the four groups ( P & lt; 0.001). No significant difference was found among four groups for pain remission rate at 24, 72 h after treatment. Multiple comparison of NRS scores showed that the both Group B and C varied significantly with Group D ( P = 0.028, P = 0.05, respectively), showing superior analgesic effect over Group D. AEs were significantly different among groups ( P & lt; 0.01), with the most frequent AEs in Group A, lowest in Group B. Conclusion The rapid titration strategy of background CR oxycodone hydrochloride was effectiveness and safety in patients with moderate-to-severe cancer pain.

    Abstract: Objective: Heart failure remains a global public health problem linked to rising morbidity and mortality. RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are crucial regulators in post-transcriptionally determining gene expression. Our study aimed to comprehensively elucidate the diagnostic utility and biological roles of RBPs in heart failure. Methods: Genomic data of human failing and nonfailing left ventricular myocardium specimens were retrieved from the GEO datasets. Heart failure-specific RBPs were screened with differential expression analyses, and RBP-based subtypes were clustered with consensus clustering approach. GSEA was implemented for comparing KEGG pathways across subtypes. RBP-based subtype-related genes were screened with WGCNA. Afterwards, characteristic genes were selected through integrating LASSO and SVM-RFE approaches. A nomogram based on characteristic genes was established and verified through calibration curve, decision curve and clinical impact curve analyses. The abundance of immune cell types was estimated with CIBERSORT approach. Results: Heart failure-specific RBPs were determined, which were remarkably linked to RNA metabolism process. Three RBP-based subtypes (namely C1, C2, C3) were established, characterized by distinct pathway activities and PANoptosis gene levels. C2 subtype presented the highest abundance of immune cells, followed by C1 and C3. Afterwards, ten characteristic genes were selected, which enabled to reliably diagnose heart failure risk. The characteristic gene-based nomogram enabled to accurately predict risk of heart failure, with the excellent clinical utility. Additionally, characteristic genes correlated to immune cell infiltration and PANoptosis genes. Conclusion: Our findings comprehensively described the roles of RBPs in heart failure. Further research is required for verifying the effectiveness of RBP-based subtypes and characteristic genes in heart failure.
