    Abstract: Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is an adverse consequence of hepatectomy or liver transplantation. Recently, immune mechanisms involved in hepatic IRI have attracted increased attention of investigators working in this area. In specific, group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s), have been strongly implicated in mediating type 2 inflammation. However, their immune mechanisms as involved with hepatic IRI remain unclear. Here, we reported that the population of ILC2s is increased with the development of hepatic IRI as shown in a mouse model in initial stage. Moreover, M2 type CD45+CD11b+F4/80high macrophages increased and reached maximal levels at 24 h followed by a significant elevation in IL-4 levels. We injected exogenous IL-33 into the tail vein of mice as a mean to stimulate ILC2s production. This stimulation of ILC2s resulted in a protective effect upon hepatic IRI along with an increase in M2 type CD45+CD11b+F4/80high macrophages. In contrast, depletion of ILC2s as achieved with use of an anti-CD90.2 antibody substantially abolished this protective effect of exogenous IL-33 and M2 type CD45+CD11b+F4/80high macrophage polarization in hepatic IRI. Therefore, this exogenous IL-33 induced potentiation of ILC2s appears to regulate the polarization of CD45+CD11b+F4/80high macrophages to alleviate IRI. Such findings provide the foundation for the development of new targets and strategies in the treatment of hepatic IRI.

    Abstract: Hearing loss (HL) may increase the risk of cognitive decline in the elderly. However, the randomized controlled study on the effect of HL on cognitive function in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is very limited. Methods From 1 November 2020 to 30 March 2022, 1,987 individuals aged 55–65 years were randomly divided into the MCI with hearing impairment (MCI-HI), MCI without HI (MCI-nHI), and no MCI (nMCI) groups by stratified sampling, with 30 participants in each group. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), the pure tone audiometry (PTA), and the auditory brainstem response (ABR) were measured at baseline and a follow-up 12 months later. The trial protocol was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov with the registration number NCT05336942. Results Among the 90 participants, the average age was 60.41 ± 6.48 years. In the MCI-HI group at baseline, the PTA score of both the ears was negatively correlated with the naming and memory score ( p & lt; 0.05), and the PTA score of both the ears was negatively correlated with the MoCA and abstraction score at the 12-month follow-up ( p & lt; 0.05). However, there were no significant differences among the PTA, the ABR, the MMSE, and the MoCA scores in the MCI-nHI and nMCI groups ( p & gt; 0.05). Regression analysis showed that the PTA score of the right ear at baseline was an important factor associated with the MoCA, visuospatial/executive, naming, and abstraction scores at the 12-month follow-up (β = −0.776 to −0.422, p & lt; 0.05). Conclusion HL was significantly negatively associated with cognitive function only in patients with MCI with hearing impairment (HI), and the PTA of the right ear may be a predictor of cognitive decline after 1 year in patients with MCI with HI. This information may help primary healthcare clinicians to prevent MCI by screening and intervening in care for elderly patients with HL.

    Abstract: Accumulating evidence indicates the critical roles of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) in immunoregulation. However, the role of ILC2s in acute rejection after liver transplantation (LT) remains elusive. In this study, we analyzed the frequency, counts, and signature cytokines of ILC2s in liver transplant recipients by flow cytometric analysis and multiplex immunofluorescence assay. We also assessed the spatial distribution and correlation between hepatic ILC2s and Treg cells. The changes of ILC2s were dynamically monitored in the mouse LT model. We found that the frequencies of circulating ILC2s were comparable in liver transplant recipients with either rejection or non-rejection compared with the control group. The hepatic ILC2s counts were significantly increased in the rejection group than in the non-rejection and control groups, and a similar trend was observed for Treg cells. In the mouse LT model, allograft infiltrating ILC2s dramatically increased within 14 days post-transplant. The frequency of ILC2s in bone marrow significantly increased at 7 days post-transplant and rapidly decreased at 14 days after LT. Similarly, there was a significant increase in the frequency of splenic ILC2s within two weeks post-transplant. Multiplex immunofluorescence assay showed a close correlation between hepatic ILC2s and Treg cells by analyzing their spatial distribution and distance. In conclusion, the number of allograft infiltrating ILC2s was closely related to rejection after LT. Allograft infiltrating ILC2s may play inhibitory roles in posttransplant immune homeostasis, favoring resolution of liver allograft rejection by interacting with Treg cells or promoting the migration of Tregs cells into the liver allograft.

    Abstract: Gliomas exhibit high intra-tumoral histological and molecular heterogeneity. Introducing stereotactic biopsy, we achieved a superior molecular analysis of glioma using O-(2-18F-fluoroethyl)-L-tyrosine (FET)-positron emission tomography (PET) and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI). Patients underwent simultaneous DWI and FET-PET scans. Correlations between biopsy-derived tumor tissue values, such as the tumor-to-background ratio (TBR) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)/exponential ADC (eADC) and histopathological diagnoses and those between relevant genes and TBR and ADC values were determined. Tumor regions with human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) mutation had higher TBR and lower ADC values. Tumor protein P53 mutation correlated with lower TBR and higher ADC values. α-thalassemia/mental-retardation-syndrome-X-linked gene (ATRX) correlated with higher ADC values. 1p/19q codeletion and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations correlated with lower ADC values. Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations correlated with higher TBRmean values. No correlation existed between TBRmax/TBRmean/ADC/eADC values and phosphatase and tensin homolog mutations (PTEN) or O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter methylation. Furthermore, TBR/ADC combination had a higher diagnostic accuracy than each single imaging method for high-grade and IDH1-, hTERT-, and EGFR-mutated gliomas. This is the first study establishing the accurate diagnostic criteria for glioma based on FET-PET and DWI.

    Abstract: With the proposal of Industrial Green Development Plan (2016–2020), it is particularly urgent to focus on the industrial green development of oil and gas cities, actively promote industrial energy efficiency, reduce pollution emissions, and measure the efficiency of their industrial green development. Based on the actual situation of oil and gas cities, we apply the Super-SBM model to measure the industrial green development efficiency of oil and gas cities in 15 years from 2004 to 2018, analyze the spatial and temporal evolution trends and characteristics of industrial green development efficiency, and also calculate the Malmquist index to dynamically analyze the industrial green development efficiency of oil and gas cities. The results show that the industrial green development efficiency of oil and gas cities as a whole is not high from 2004 to 2018, showing a gentle “W” type fluctuation change. From the spatial dimension, there are significant differences in industrial green development efficiency among oil and gas cities in the east, central and west, with the efficiency value is relatively higher in the west. The total factor productivity of industrial green development is most influenced by the changes of technical efficiency and technological progress. In view of the above problems, it is recommended to broaden green technology innovation channels, increase green technology innovation investment, build a new mechanism for regional synergistic development, and formulate regional graded development strategies.

    Abstract: This study aimed to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the genetic and phenotypic aspects of GABRG2 -related epilepsy and its prognosis and to explore the potential prospects for personalized medicine. Methods Through a multicenter collaboration in China, we analyzed the genotype-phenotype correlation and antiseizure medication (ASM) of patients with GABRG2 -related epilepsy. The three-dimensional protein structure of the GABRG2 variant was modeled to predict the effect of GABRG2 missense variants using PyMOL 2.3 software. Results In 35 patients with GABRG2 variants, 22 variants were de novo , and 18 variants were novel. The seizure onset age was ranged from 2 days after birth to 34 months (median age: 9 months). The seizure onset age was less than 1 year old in 22 patients (22/35, 62.9%). Seizure types included focal seizures (68.6%), generalized tonic-clonic seizures (60%), myoclonic seizures (14.3%), and absence seizures (11.4%). Other clinical features included fever-sensitive seizures (91.4%), cluster seizures (57.1%), and developmental delay (45.7%). Neuroimaging was abnormal in 2 patients, including dysplasia of the frontotemporal cortex and delayed myelination of white matter. Twelve patients were diagnosed with febrile seizures plus, eleven with epilepsy and developmental delay, two with Dravet syndrome, two with developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, two with focal epilepsy, two with febrile seizures, and four with unclassified epilepsy. The proportions of patients with missense variants in the extracellular region and the transmembrane region exhibiting developmental delay were 40% and 63.2%, respectively. The last follow-up age ranged from 11 months to 17 years. Seizures were controlled in 71.4% of patients, and 92% of their seizures were controlled by valproate and/or levetiracetam. Conclusion The clinical features of GABRG2 -related epilepsy included seizure onset, usually in infancy, and seizures were fever-sensitive. More than half of the patients had cluster seizures. Phenotypes of GABRG2 -related epilepsy were ranged from mild febrile seizures to severe epileptic encephalopathies. Most patients with GABRG2 variants who experienced seizures had a good prognosis. Valproate and levetiracetam were effective treatments for most patients.

    Abstract: As some countries announced to remove Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) border, it indicates that the COVID-19 may have entered its terminal stage. In this COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health of frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) experienced unprecedented challenges. However, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health among frontline HCWs lacks a high-quality and long-term systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis according to PRISMA guidelines. The system searches EMBASE, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, ScienceNet, and ERIC. Analyze the mental health problems of frontline HCWs in different regions and periods, including insomnia, stress, anxiety and depression. This study was registered in PROSPERO under the number CRD42021253821. Results A total of 19 studies on the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on mental health among frontline HCWs were included in this study. The overall prevalence of insomnia was 42.9% (95% CI, 33.9–51.9%, I 2 = 99.0%) extracted from data from 14 cross-sectional studies ( n = 10 127), 1 cohort study ( n = 4,804), and 1 randomized controlled trial (RCT; n = 482) in 10 countries. The overall prevalence of stress was 53.0% (95% CI, 41.1–64.9%, I 2 = 78.3%) extracted from data from nine cross-sectional studies ( n = 5,494) and 1 RCT study ( n = 482) from eight countries. The overall prevalence of anxiety and depression was 43.0% (95% CI, 33.8–52.3%, I 2 = 99.0%) and 44.6% (95% CI, 36.1–53.1%, I 2 = 99.0%) extracted from data from 17 cross-sectional studies ( n = 11,727), one cohort study ( n = 4,804), and one RCT study ( n = 482) from 12 countries. The prevalence of stress and depression was higher in 2020, while the prevalence of insomnia and anxiety was higher in 2021. The prevalence of mental health problems among physicians was higher than that of other frontline HCWs. The prevalence of mental health problems among frontline HCWs is higher in South America and lower in North America. Conclusions This systematic review and meta-analysis showed that the COVID-19 pandemic have significant effects on mental health among frontline HCWs. The overall prevalence of insomnia, stress, anxiety and depression among frontline HCWs is high. Therefore, the health policy-makers should pay attention to and respond to the mental health problems of frontline HCWs in the context of public health emergencies.
