    Abstract: Most randomized trials for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) have investigated highly selected patients under idealized conditions, and the findings need to be validated in the real world. We conducted a population-based study of all APL patients in Zhejiang Province, China, with a total population of 82 million people, to assess the generalization of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic as front-line treatment. The outcomes of APL patients were also analyzed. Between January 2015 and December 2019, 1,233 eligible patients were included in the final analysis. The rate of ATRA and arsenic as front-line treatment increased steadily from 66.2% in 2015 to 83.3% in 2019, with no difference among the size of the center (≥5 or & lt;5 patients per year, p = 0.12) or age (≥60 or & lt;60 years, p = 0.35). The early death (ED) rate, defined as death within 30 days after diagnosis, was 8.2%, and the 3-year overall survival (OS) was 87.9% in the whole patient population. Age (≥60 years) and white blood cell count ( & gt;10 × 10 9 /L) were independent risk factors for ED and OS in the multivariate analysis. This population-based study showed that ATRA and arsenic as front-line treatment are widely used under real-world conditions and yield a low ED rate and a high survival rate, which mimic the results from clinical trials, thereby supporting the wider application of APL guidelines in the future.

    Abstract: To explore the geographical pattern and temporal trend of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) epidemiology from 1990 to 2019, and perform a bibliometric analysis of risk factors for ASD. Methods In this study, ASD epidemiology was estimated with prevalence, incidence, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) of 204 countries and territories by sex, location, and sociodemographic index (SDI). Age-standardized rate (ASR) and estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) were used to quantify ASD temporal trends. Besides, the study performed a bibliometric analysis of ASD risk factors since 1990. Publications published were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection database, and were analyzed using CiteSpace. Results Globally, there were estimated 28.3 million ASD prevalent cases (ASR, 369.4 per 100,000 populations), 603,790 incident cases (ASR, 9.3 per 100,000 populations) and 4.3 million DALYs (ASR, 56.3 per 100,000 populations) in 2019. Increases of autism spectrum disorders were noted in prevalent cases (39.3%), incidence (0.1%), and DALYs (38.7%) from 1990 to 2019. Age-standardized rates and EAPC showed stable trend worldwide over time. A total of 3,991 articles were retrieved from Web of Science, of which 3,590 were obtained for analysis after removing duplicate literatures. “Rehabilitation”, “Genetics & amp; Heredity”, “Nanoscience & amp; Nanotechnology”, “Biochemistry & amp; Molecular biology”, “Psychology”, “Neurosciences”, and “Environmental Sciences” were the hotspots and frontier disciplines of ASD risk factors. Conclusions Disease burden and risk factors of autism spectrum disorders remain global public health challenge since 1990 according to the GBD epidemiological estimates and bibliometric analysis. The findings help policy makers formulate public health policies concerning prevention targeted for risk factors, early diagnosis and life-long healthcare service of ASD. Increasing knowledge concerning the public awareness of risk factors is also warranted to address global ASD problem.

    Abstract: The three-dimensional structure of a supercharged cold eddy, which showed strong temperature anomaly, was continuously investigated for 83 days based on current- and pressure-equipped inverted echo sounder observations in the Kuroshio Extension region. The eddy was generated on December 9, 2004, shed from the Kuroshio approximately 30 days later, and moved out of the observation area on March 1, 2005. During the stable period, the eddy had a radius of approximately 60–80 km, a depth of approximately 3,000 m, and a westward speed of 7.4 km/d. The maximum temperature anomaly in the eddy center reached -9.1°C at 360 dbar, whereas the minimum (maximum) salinity anomaly reached -0.68 (0.20) psu at 340 (780) dbar. Under the stream function coordinate, the kinetic energy of the eddy first increased and then decreased from the center to boundary, whereas the vorticity decreased overall. Energy budget analysis showed that eddy energy mainly originated from the Kuroshio during eddy formation by advection, whereas the baroclinic conversion (BC) and barotropic conversion (BT) played a dissipative role. After the eddy had been completely separated from the Kuroshio, the mean flow energy was transferred to eddy energy through BC and BT, which further enhanced eddy potential energy and eddy kinetic energy.

    Abstract: Mirror-type coastal acoustic tomography (MCAT) is an advancement of coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) with a mirror function that enables the nearshore transmission of offshore observation data. Subsurface MCATs are used to monitor small-scale oceanographic phenomena over large areas on the continental slope of the South China Sea (300–1,000 m). This study investigated the performance of MCAT network observation for internal tide monitoring using 3D tomographic inversion. MCAT facilitates communication with each other and is networked. Results of 3D tomographic inversion were highly consistent with the Stanford unstructured nonhydrostatic terrain-following adaptive Navier–Stokes (SUNTANS) model data. The root-mean-square difference of the sound speed obtained by the inversion method was & lt; 1.0 m/s. The high sound speeds induced by the internal tide were well captured by the results of 3D inversion. A high sound speed band of & gt; 1,516 m/s was used as an index of internal tides, which propagated at a speed of 1.9 m/s. Sensitivity experiments demonstrated that a swing of the anchor tether of & lt; 5 m had less impact on sound speed inversion, while distance drifts caused by human activities of & gt; 50 m had a significant influence. The missing of one or several stations owing to natural factors did not generate significant variations in the results of network observation. This study demonstrated that the MCAT network observation strategy, equipped with numerous stations, is more effective in capturing the characteristics of internal tides.

    Abstract: One of the variables affecting gut microbiota is ethnicity. There are 56 ethnic subgroups in China, and their intestinal flora differs. A wealth of medical resources has also been produced by the presence of numerous ethnic minorities. In this study, we reviewed the pertinent literature on the intestinal flora of ethnic minorities in China and abroad using the CiteSpace visualization software, and we used bibliometric techniques to find the most widely prescribed medications for preventing and treating endemic diseases in ethnic minorities. Based on the gut microbiology of minority populations, we suggest that by comprehensive development involving literature, experimental, and clinical research, the pharmacological action mechanisms for interventions in endemic diseases can be drawn from ethnic medicine. This point of view has not been discussed before and will offer a fresh perspective on the creation and application of ethnic medications as well as a fresh method for the management of prevalent diseases in ethnic communities.

    Abstract: There are few studies on predictive biomarkers for hyperuricemia, and the predictive value of these biomarkers tends to be poor. Additionally, no reports have described the predictive value of retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) for hyperuricemia. Purpose This study was performed to evaluate the value of RBP4 for predicting the risk of hyperuricemia in a general population, determine whether RBP4 could be used alone or in combination with other factors to predict the risk of hyperuricemia in the general population, and establish an optimum predictive model. Methods We conducted a population-based cross-sectional survey in 2018, involving a questionnaire, physical examination, and laboratory testing. We enrolled 2303 individuals by stratified random sampling, and 2075 were included in the data analysis after applying the eligibility criteria. Results Serum RBP4 level had a highly significant association with hyperuricemia ( P & lt;0.001). After adjusting for potential confounders, logistic regression indicated that the risk of hyperuricemia was highest in the highest RBP4 quartile (odds ratio: 7.9, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.18–14.84, compared to the lowest quartile). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for RBP4 was 0.749 (95% CI: 0.725–0.774, P & lt;0.001), which was higher than that for all the other predictors assessed. The optimum model for predicting hyperuricemia in the general population consisted of RBP4, sex (male), body mass index, serum creatinine, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, fasting blood glucose, insulin, and alcohol consumption. The AUC was 0.804 (95% CI: 0.782–0.826, P & lt;0.001). Conclusions RBP4 is strongly associated with hyperuricemia, and its predictive value was higher than that of traditional predictors.

    Abstract: Heterocyclic compounds were widely used in many domains; pyrrolidone is a derivative of heterocycles that can be used to synthesize anticancer drugs. A new fluorine-containing rhopaladins’ analog( E )-2-(4-bromobenzoyl)- N -(tert-butyl)-4-(4-fluoro benzylidene)-5-oxo-1-propylpyrrolidine-2-carboxamide (RPDPD for short) of 2-aroyl-4-arylidene-5-oxopyrrolidine derivative was synthesized by the one-pot synthesis method and evaluated for its anti-tumor activity in vitro via CCK8 assay and annexin V/propidium iodide (PI) staining of HeLa cells. The results exhibited that compound RPDPD has inhibited the proliferation of HeLa in a dose-dependent manner with an IC 50 of 24.23 μmol/L ( p & lt; 0.05) and has low hepatotoxicity with an IC 50 of 235.6 μmol/L ( p & lt; 0.05) to normal hepatocyte LO2 cells. The apoptotic assay demonstrated that compound RPDPD has induced apoptosis in HeLa cells (from 14.26 to 23.4%, p & lt; 0.05). qRT-PCR results showed that the compound RPDPD could inhibit the expression of oncogene E6/E7 mRNA ( p & lt; 0.05) of human papillomavirus (HPV). The results of Western blot showed that the compound RPDPD promoted the expression of TIMP3 protein and inhibited the expression of MMP3 ( p & lt; 0.05). In conclusion, the compound RPDPD can inhibit the proliferation of cervical cancer cells and induce the apoptosis of cervical cancer cells, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of E6 mRNA and E7 mRNA expressions, and the anticancer effect of the compound RPDPD on cervical cancer is closely related to the TIMP3/MMP3 signaling axis.
