Abstract: The objective of this article is to investigate the managerial learning styles as seen by Kolb (1978) and verify whether there is any relationship between learning styles and the Social Motives proposed by McClelland (1972). The strategic methodology used was the case study conducted in a top quality Cooperative located in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The subjects of the research are 11, including the president, the Human Resources management and the managers of the business unities composing the Quality Management Committee. The data collection was based on questionnaires and semi-structured individual interviews. It was verified that managers with convergent and accommodative learning styles feel a higher need for power than for achievement. On the other hand, it was demonstrated that those with divergent and assimilative styles express a higher need for achievement than for power. Given the complexity of human behavior, the classification of administrators according to certain social styles and motives should not be viewed as something stagnant and definitive, but rather as a way of facilitating comprehension.

Abstract: The recognition that no organization contemplates in itself same all the resources and necessary abilities to offers compatible with the demand is a new factor that sends to the organizations the articulated action of complementarities in net. Thus, in this environment of great transformations the process to get new combinations is falling again on the capacity of the organizations into managing its interorganizations relationships efficiently. Thus one is about an emergent subject where different approaches take the quarrels controversies. The challenge of the present work is to deepen the knowledge, to extend the domain, to offer an analytical vision on the referring subject to the production of individual results, through the cooperative work in net. It also must be a product of this work to the consolidation of an analytical model of development of interorganizations nets that can contribute in such a way as in the aid of how many private public managers.

Abstract: The sustainable development is entrenched. Your field is characterized by conflicting visions and interests that provide feedback for its fragmentation in two main ideological groups which oppose one another. In one trench are the biocentered, who advocate for the prioritization of natural resources preservation over socio-economic systems; the other trench is occupied by the antropocentered, moved by the belief that Nature exists to serve men and that market growth and technological evolution are enough to create sustainability. This loggerheads makes more difficult to construct a common vision for sustainable development, what results in slow advancement, if not in regress for a bigger equilibrium between economy, society and environment all over the world. Then there is the necessity to reduce the gap between these two vision, so that will make room for actions and politics towards a viable sustainable development. This paper aims: to propose a new conceptual perspective for sustainable analyses and decision, which allows a closer approach of both visions. From a "general map", where we track biocentered and antropocentered actors in opposite fields, we begin the construction of the conceptual model. The industrial ecology perspective is integrated to the stakeholders theory and to the Mauerhofer's (2008) 3-D sustainability for the construction of it, which is conceived to reflect instrinsic sustainable development characteristics and it works as a closed circuit, retrofitted. This model fulfills this paper's objective and is its main contribuition. We suggest the following advancements: 1. the model operation development and its ulterior application over the biocentered and antropocentered main demands, present in the diverse discussion forums; and 2. the model adaptation to specific industries.

Abstract: The multiplication of researches in the management area has been accentuated in the last years, having sometimes as characteristic the lack of resolution in the definition of the epistemo-methodological position adopted by the researchers in their works. Independently of the possible mistakes derived from classification problems, it can be noticed that the tradition of researches in management, and more specifically strategy, demonstrate a predominance of positivist studies. An important advance for the field could be exactly in seeking an alternative position adapted to the needs of the area's researches. The objective of this work is precisely to suggest one of these alternatives, proposing a conception epistemological position and a possible methodological conduction of such position. Thus, the present article presents three main contributions: 1. it highlights the importance of adding the epistemological discussion to the studies and researches of Strategy, 2. it disposes of new epistemological and/or methodological classifications in order to represent more accurately the several stages of research in the field of strategy and 3. it proposes a methodology which allows one to operationalize the research situations experienced in the field of strategy.

Abstract: Growing concern about food safety indicates that supply chains play a predominant role in the productive process. The concepts of Supply Chain Management (SCM) may contribute substantially toward a more uniform process throughout the chain, facilitating the sharing of information and productive practices. This paper discusses the structure, links and degree of integration of Brazil’s pork export supply chain based on the model of Lambert et al. (1998), and the relation of SCM to the valuation of pork attributes and the implementation of food safety programs. Our empirical research was based on a sample of ten hog breeders whose production volume represented about 73% of the hogs slaughtered in 2002. Our findings reveal a supply chain strongly influenced by the meat processing industry, whose connections with suppliers and buyers are of the managed type. These findings, and the confirmation of the importance of SCM in the valuation of pork meat attributes and the implementation of food safety programs, place the processing industry in the position of key coordinator of policies aimed at promoting the safety of Brazilian pork.

Abstract: This research has as focus the study of the learning in two horizontal networks in to agribusiness retail segment. This link plays a dominant role in the process that defines the choices of the other companies and suppliers (other links) that participate in these interorganizacional relationships. In this way, the objectives of this article are: (i) to identify the individual learning strategies adopted by the organizations that participate in the analyzed horizontal networks; (ii) to identify how the companies in the horizontal networks learn (the learning method) and; (iii) to verify in which evolutionary status of interorganizacional learning the researched companies are. This research is characterized as qualitative and exploratory nature and the adopted method is the multiple cases study. The results revealed the existence of differences among the strategies, the methods and the evolutionary status of interorganizacional learning adopted by the companies in the studied networks. These differences can be derived from participation of an external coordinator and of the existence of a joined actions and attitudes planning process. In the net where there is an external coordinator we can identify a collaborative behavior. The interactive learning method is used in this net and the evolutionary stage is characterized as re-orientation. In the net where has not an external coordinator we identify a strategic behavior that leads to avoidance and commitment that leads to competition. The learning methods used in this net are active learning and passive learning and the evolutionary stage is characterized as convergent.

Abstract: The present article has the objective to rescue the origins of the space concentration of machines and implements industry in the Riograndense Northwest mesorregião, as well as, to evaluate the characteristics of the product, the operation and the demand. A comparative analysis was undertaken using different sizes of companies, identifying differentiated standards of the business in relation to the size of the companies and the categories of products, under the approach of the logistic positioning. For this, from the model of transversal evaluation, a research of field of exploratory and descriptive character was carried out, considering two categories of products, in the different sizes of the companies, in an almost-random sample with repetition. In the analysis of the business characteristics, in accordance with the sizes of the companies and categories of products, the companies had presented heterogeneous standards of logistic decisions suggesting that for the industry, the identification of these characteristics could lead to better decisions.
