    Abstract: Intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) span the approximate mass range 100−10 5   M ⊙ , between black holes (BHs) that formed by stellar collapse and the supermassive BHs at the centers of galaxies. Mergers of IMBH binaries are the most energetic gravitational-wave sources accessible by the terrestrial detector network. Searches of the first two observing runs of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo did not yield any significant IMBH binary signals. In the third observing run (O3), the increased network sensitivity enabled the detection of GW190521, a signal consistent with a binary merger of mass ∼150  M ⊙ providing direct evidence of IMBH formation. Here, we report on a dedicated search of O3 data for further IMBH binary mergers, combining both modeled (matched filter) and model-independent search methods. We find some marginal candidates, but none are sufficiently significant to indicate detection of further IMBH mergers. We quantify the sensitivity of the individual search methods and of the combined search using a suite of IMBH binary signals obtained via numerical relativity, including the effects of spins misaligned with the binary orbital axis, and present the resulting upper limits on astrophysical merger rates. Our most stringent limit is for equal mass and aligned spin BH binary of total mass 200  M ⊙ and effective aligned spin 0.8 at 0.056 Gpc −3 yr −1 (90% confidence), a factor of 3.5 more constraining than previous LIGO-Virgo limits. We also update the estimated rate of mergers similar to GW190521 to 0.08 Gpc −3 yr −1 .

    Abstract: With the acceleration of urbanization, air pollution is getting worse especially during winter, which causes serious threat to people’s health. Large numbers of studies showed that green plants had a significant species on the retention of particulate matters. In view of this, this study selected five evergreen plants to explore the dust retention amounts of PM 10 , PM 2.5 , PM 1 per unit leaf area and the microstructure of leaf surface. The results showed that: 1. Within the unit leaf area: the dust retention amount (PM 10 , PM 2.5 , PM 1 ) of Yucca gloriosa was the highest, followed by Buxus sinica , and that of Ligustrum lucidum , Buxus megistophylla and Phyllostachys propinqua was relatively few. 2. The roughness of the leaf surface, the waxy layer, the stomata protruded, the number of stomata, stomata density, and stomatal opening and closing degree would affect the retention of particulate matter. The results obtained scientific guidance for plants collection in landscape greening with brilliant dust retention ability, and maximized the ecological effect of greening plants to mitigate air pollution.

    Abstract: Air pollution in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has caused widespread concern. In winter, the combustion of fossil fuel produces a very high proportion of fine particulate matter in the air. However, the vegetation coverage is relatively low. The dust retention of evergreen plants is particularly important for improving air quality. In this study, five evergreen species were selected, and the effects of leaf stomatal characteristics (stomatal width, stomatal length and stomatal density) of greening plants in winter on leaf dust retention were explored. The results showed that: (1) The highest percentage of PM 10 , PM 2.5 , and PM 1 were retained by Yucca gloriosa , followed by Buxus sinica and Phyllostachys propinqua (2) There was a positive correlation between stomatal density, stomatal width and TSTP, while the correlation between stomatal length and TSTP was low. Our study can provide scientific guidance for plant planning to improve urban air pollution.

    Abstract: The fossil record of testudinoid turtles of China during the Eocene-Oligocene is poorly documented. The Maoming basin is one of the few Paleogene basin in southern China having yielded a rich turtle fauna including Trionychidae, Carettochelyidae and Geoemydidae (Testudinoidea). Testudinoids were known in this basin by a single, supposed aquatic species, Isometremys lacunaChow and Yeh, 1962. The examination of the new material collected since the first description, and a reexamination of the type material provide additional data on the morphology of that species. In addition, a second geoemydid, Guangdongemys pingi nov gen. nov sp., is described on the basis of shell material. Both species are supposed to be aquatic, and have a probably basal position in the geoemydid phylogeny.
