Abstract:
Describes the succession of terraces in the Huisne valley above Le Mans, Sarthe, France, and discusses the effects of solifluction and other periglacial processes, the accumulation of eolian material, and the morphologic development of the terraces. It is concluded that the terraces represent climatically controlled (rather than eustatic) land forms and that there were periods of coldclimate in western France prior to the Wuerm glaciation.
