Abstract: The paper presents a review of foreign literature at the present stage on the use of endoscopic stenting of the trachea and esophagus in malignant respiratory-digestive fistulas. Based on the data of foreign literature demonstrating the effectiveness of stenting, indications and contraindications for stenting, approaches for choosing a stent are presented, as well as the advantages, disadvantages, frequency of possible complications and endoscopic methods for their elimination. In conditions of limited life expectancy, patients with malignant fistulas need timely and effective choice of palliative care, which restores the patency of the esop-hagus, seals the fistula and improves the quality of life. Stenting with this pathology is the optimal method of choice. Due to the limited availability of internal in-formation, given the rarity of the occurrence of malignant esophago-respiratory fistulas, the foreign experience was generalized in this work.

Abstract: Despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of benign esophageal strictures, although long-term, but effectively stop with the help of endoscopic recanalization, 10% of them recur. Such strictures are a major problem in thoracic surgery. Disabled surgical methods of treatment are associated with a sufficiently high mortality rate and do not guarantee the formation of new anastomotic strictures. Esophageal stenting against the background of a limited endoscopic arsenal of methods for recanalization of benign strictures is the last option. A lot of different models of esophageal stents with their own individual characteristics and features have appeared since the introduction of the first stents in clinical practice. All were investigated in an attempt to identify the optimal stent type and design for the treatment of refractory benign strictures. The review is devoted to the current state of stenting in recurrent benign esophageal stenosis. The review reflects the efficacy and disadvantages of various types of stents and their comparison with a focus on new biodegradable stents used in the treatment of benign esophageal strictures.

Abstract: Esophageal stenting is undoubtedly an effective method of choice for resolving malignant dysphagia in the presence of esophageal cancer. Nevertheless, the implantation of esophageal stents for malignant pathology is only a way to achieve adequate oral nutrition, which, unfortunately, does not increase the life expectancy in incurable patients. Early studies on the combination of chemoradiation therapy and stent implantation reported a relatively high rate of complications. Therefore, such therapeutic combinations have not been introduced into widespread practice. Nevertheless, to date, there is no convincing clinical data on the results of a combination of stenting methods and chemoradiation therapy, as well as their effect on the incidence of possible complications. Recent research has shown a very encouraging prospect. The combination of these techniques can increase life expectancy in incurable patients through continuous improvements in stent materials and designs.
