    Abstract: Patients with malignancy have higher risk of developing cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT), with predominance of venous thromboembolism (VTE). CAT in these patients leads to the delay of specific cancer treatment, worse treatment outcomes and also increased mortality rates. This article is evaluating the role of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) in the prophylaxis and treatment of VTE in patients with CAT. The review shed the light on the newest recommendations and guidelines, according to the newest treatment guidelines, but it also discusses the potential risks of DOAC therapy in patients with CAT. Compared to the previous recommendations, in the latest clinical guidelines for the prevention and treatment of CAT, DOAC are becoming more important. However, considering that cancer patients represent a highly specific group of patients, diversification and expansion of CAT anticoagulant therapy provides personalized approach to each patient achieving more efficient and safer profile of anticoagulant therapy.

    Abstract: Lymphomas represent a heterogeneous group of malignant hematological diseases with high risk for development of venous thromboembolic complications (VTE). Consequently, VTE significantly impacts morbidity and mortality in these patients. Another concern is the financial burden of the healthcare system caused by diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT). The complex biology of lymphoma, in conjunction with patient and treatment related risk factors for the development of VTE, results in a procoagulant hemostatic dysregulation. Considering the incidence of VTE in patients with lymphoma, there is an emerging demand for both reliable risks assessment model (RAM) for prediction of VTE, as well as for effective VTE prophylaxis and treatment. The clinical course of patients with malignant diseases is accompanied by a wide range of potential treatment complications, making the task of prevention and treatment of VTE even more challenging. In recent years, great progress has been achieved in understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms of thrombotic complications, while the significant number of randomized controlled trials (RCT) have provided standards of prophylaxis and treatment of VTE complications in patients with malignancy. In comparison to previous recommendations and guidelines for CAT, the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) has been gradually approaching low molecular weight heparins (LMWH) in terms of efficacy and safety profile in these indications. This systematic review is focused on the latest pathophysiological advances, risk factors assessment, prophylactic and therapeutic recommendations and guidelines concerning VTE in patients with lymphoma.

    Abstract: Eye infections can be caused by metazoans - helminths and for long this parasitosis was believed to spread only in tropical regions of the world. Lately, mostly subconjunctival infections of adults or immature forms of D. repens, which is nematoda- filaria of canids, have been described and the man is just an accidental host. The genus Thelazia (Spirurida, Thelaziidae) comprises a cosmopolitan group of eye worm spirurids responsible for eye infections of domestic and wild animals and humans, carried by different kinds of flies. Nematodes localized in the conjunctival space, lacrimal canals and surrounding ocular tissues of humans can cause symptoms from mild to very serious and severe ones if not treated. The chief aim of this paper was to describe the morphological characteristics, life cycle, prevalence and clinical significance of Thelazia spp. as a parasite of the eye. To ensure the diagnosis of thelasiosis and appropriate treatment, it is necessary to have continuing medical reports and increase the awareness of this infection.

    Abstract: Criminalistic and forensic processing of vehicles damaged by fire is a specific field of crime scene investigation because the situation in terms of traceology is significantly different from the ones encountered when investigating other events and criminal offences. Due to the relatively small space of the car and a comparatively high density and flammability of fuel and other materials contained in it, the speed of development and the intensity of fire on such vehicles can be very high. This contributes to the fact that many traces that may indicate possible causes and origins of fire may be largely or completely destroyed. Bearing in mind this danger, but also the transience and unrepeatability of certain phenomena, it is very important to promptly arrive at the scene of fire and quickly extinguish it, as well as to monitor and record the development of fire, observing its characteristics. In addition to this, it should be borne in mind that in these situations the possibilities of proving by personal sources of evidence is minimal, so that criminal investigation must be based on material evidence collected during the crime scene inspection. The paper aims to point out specific traces in cases of spontaneous car combustion, particularly in cases where fire started in the area around the engine and in the passenger area.
