    Abstract: Strategic management scholars have shown increasing interest in explaining strategic change from the perspective of cognitive bias. However, most studies focus on individual cognitive bias but pay little attention to group cognitive bias. This study introduces a typical group cognitive bias (group polarization) to explain strategic change decisions made by the board of directors. Following the theory of group polarization, we argue that, when the average prior strategic change experienced in performance decline by board directors is relatively high (or low), the focal strategic change in performance decline will become even higher (or lower). We further contend that the proportion of female directors and board versus CEO power as the contingencies can mitigate this group polarization effect. Our hypotheses were strongly supported by a longitudinal sample of Chinese publicly listed companies during 2008–2018. The study's framework and findings contribute to the contextualization of social psychology research on group polarization in the study of board's strategic decision-making.

    Abstract: Charged particle diagnostics is one of the required techniques for implosion areal density diagnostics at the SG-III facility. Several proton spectrometers are under development, and some preliminary areal density diagnostics have been carried out. The response of the key detector, CR39, to charged particles was investigated in detail. A new track profile simulation code based on a semi-empirical model was developed. The energy response of the CR39 detector was calibrated with the accelerator protons and alphas from a 241 Am source. A proton spectrometer based on the filtered CR39 detector was developed, and D–D primary proton measurements were implemented. A step range filter spectrometer was developed, and preliminary areal density diagnostics was carried out. A wedged range filter spectrometer array made of Si with a higher resolution was designed and developed at the SG-III facility. A particle response simulation code by the Monte Carlo method and a spectra unfolding code were developed. The capability was evaluated in detail by simulations.

    Abstract: Sterol regulatory element binding protein 1 (SREBP1) has a central regulatory effect on milk fat synthesis. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) can induce mastitis and cause milk fat depression in cows. SREBP1 is also known to be associated with inflammatory regulation. Thus, in the current study, we hypothesized that LPS-induced milk fat depression in dairy cow mammary epithelial cells (DCMECs) operates via decreased SREBP1 expression and activity. To examine the hypothesis, DCMECs were isolated and purified from dairy cow mammary tissue and treated with LPS (10 µg/ml). LPS treatment of DCMECs suppressed lipid-metabolism-related transcription factor SREBP1 mRNA expression, nuclear translocation and protein expression, leading to reduced triglyceride content. The transcription levels of acetyl-CoA carboxylase-1 and fatty acid synthetase were significantly down-regulated in DCMECs after LPS treatment, suggesting that acetyl-CoA carboxylase-1 and fatty acid synthetase involved in de novo milk fat synthesis was regulated by SREBP1. In summary, these results suggest that LPS induces milk fat depression in dairy cow mammary epithelial cells via decreased expression of SREBP1 in a time-dependent manner.

    Abstract: This paper presents a gait optimization method to generate the locomotion pattern for biped and discuss its stability. The main contribution of this paper is a newly proposed energy-based stability criterion, which permits the dynamic stable walking and could be straight-forwardly generalized to different locomotion scenarios and biped robots. The gait optimization problem is formulated subject to the constraints of the whole-body dynamics and kinematics. The constraints are established based on the modelling of bipedal hybrid dynamical systems. Following the whole-body modelling, the system energy is acquired and then applied to create the stability criterion. The optimization objective is also established on the system energy. The gait optimization is solved by being converted to a large-scale programming problem, where the transcription accuracy is improved via the spectral method. To further reduce the dimensionality of the large-scale problem, the whole-body dynamics is re-constructed. The generalization of the optimized gait is improved by the design of feedback control. The optimization examples demonstrate that the stability criterion naturally leads to a cyclic biped locomotion, though the periodicity was not previously imposed. Two simulation cases, level ground walking and slope walking, verify the generalization of the stability criterion and feedback control. The stability analyses are carried out by investigating the motions of centre of gravity and centre of pressure. It is revealed that if the tracked speed is above 0.3 m/s or the biped accelerates/climbs the slope, the stability criterion accomplishes the dynamic stable walking, where zero moment point criterion is not strictly complied.
