Die Ausführungen des Buches beruhen vorwiegend auf der einfachen Annahme, daß bei allen Vorgängen überall das örtliche thermochemische Gleichgewicht herrscht. Damit können die meisten Erscheinungen im Gasgenerator gedeutet werden. Eine Analogie findet man bei der Wärmeübertragung durch ein Gas, wo in allen genügend kleine Gasteilchen örtlich gleichmäßige Temperaturen als selbstverständliche angenommen werden, wenn auch die Temperatur von Ort zu Ort verschieden ist. Solche Vorstellung erleichtert sehr die Betrachtungen und man sollte sie nicht ohne wirklich triftige Gründe aufgeben. Nichtsdestoweniger wurden aber auch solche Zustandsänderungen besprochen, bei denen die Einstellung einzelner Teilgewichte gehemmt sein sollte.
