Abstract:
To the Editor.— I found the article by Wood et al1 to be very interesting. The quality of health care for both the poor and nonpoor is an important issue. Under "Discussion," five potential explanations are given, and later in the article it is mentioned that adequate comprehension and retention of information are additional crucial elements to the physician-family partnership. I feel that the latter is a primary explanation and should be listed with the other potential explanations.
