Abstract: In this puper, we report the synthesis of a new metastable phase La4Au by means of high pressure high temperature treatment of an amorphous alloy. As starting material, the La80Au20 amorphous ribbons were prepared from melt by rapid quenching method. Synthesis conditions were found to be at about 80kbar and 250℃. This new phase has a orthorhombic structure with lattice parameters a = 6.54?, b = 7.71? and c=11.32?, and exhibits superconducting transition at Tc=5.5 K which is higher than that of any known La-Au phases.

Abstract: White organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) have drawn considerable attention for next-generation lighting and display applications owing to their remarkable advantages. Phosphorescent OLED technology is crucial to realize high-efficiency white OLEDs because phosphorescent emitters enable to achieve almost 100% internal quantum efficiency (IQE) by harvesting all the excitons of 75% of triplets and 25% of singlets. However, an efficiency roll-off at high-brightness and a shift in color under various operation biases remains challenges. With the goal towards commercial applications, it requires WOLEDs should simultaneously realize high efficiency at high-brightness region over 1000 cd/m〈sup〉2〈/sup〉 and good color stability over a wide electroluminescent range. In this paper, we first investigated the energy transfer process between the blue-emitting Bis (3,5-difluoro-2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl-(2-carboxypyridyl) iridium (III) (Firpic) and the orange emitting Iridium (III) bis(4-(4-tert-butylphenyl)thieno[3,2-c]pyridinato-N,C2')acetylacetonate (PO-01-TB), in addition to the behavior of the carrier trapping in the phosphorescent OLEDs with double emissive layers. Then we successfully fabricated phosphorescent WOLED with multiple emissive layers. The resulting phosphorescent WOLED achieves the maximum forward-viewing current efficiency (CE) of 34.6 cd/A and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 13.5%, and the CE and the EQE remain 33.9 cd/A and 13.3% at 1000 cd/m〈sup〉2〈/sup〉, respectively, indicating that the WOLED exhibits low efficiency roll-off. Furthermore, the WOLED shows very stable white emission with small Commission Internationale de L’Eclairage (CIE) coordinate varying range of (0.016, 0.011) from 1000 to 10000 cd/m〈sup〉2〈/sup〉. The results provide a promising avenue to simultaneously achieve high efficiency, lower the efficiency roll-off at high brightness and color-stability for phosphorescent WOLEDs by carefully designing the device architecture to redistribute the charge carriers and excitons in the recombination zone.

Abstract: This paper reports the results of crystallization of bulk metallic glassy sphere of Pd40Ni40P20 (with diameter range from 0.1 to 1.0 mm) under 4GPa pressure. Compared with the result obtained at ambient pressure, the crystallization temperature of the glass increased with pressure at the rate of 15K/GPa. As annealing temperature under pressure closed to the melting temperature of the sample, the single supersaturated solid solution phase with f.c.c. structure was obtained. The same phase was also obtained by annealing a cast Pd40Ni40P20 alloy under high pressure. This result indicates that the new phase is a high pressure phase.

Abstract: Four kinds of unpoled lead zirconate titanate (PZT95/5) ferroelectric ceramics were fabricated in a range of different porosity levels by systematic additions of added pore formers. By using the non-contact digital image correlation (DIC) optical technique to measure the full-field strain, the response of unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics to statically applied uniaxial stresses was investigated. The influences of porosities on the mechanical behavior, domain switching, and phase transformation of the porous unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics were explored. All the measured stress versus strain curves for the tested porous unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramic samples can be divided into three stages: the initial linear elastic region, the approximate plateau region, and the second linear elastic region, similar to the behavior of foam or honeycomb materials. However, the deformation mechanism of porous unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics should be attributed to the domain switching and phase transformation processes, but not related to the collapse of voids. With the increase of porosity, the elastic modulus, fracture strength and fracture strain of the porous unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics would decrease. Effect of dispersed voids does not improve plasticity of the porous unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics, which is mainly attributed to no effect of the pores on the obstacle and proliferation of crack propagation during the axial splitting failure processes. Critical stresses of the domain switching and phase transformation decrease linearly with increasing porosity. The macroscopic critical volumetric strain needed for phase transformation is independent of the porosity in the unpoled PZT95/5 ferroelectric ceramics.

Abstract: First principles calculations are performed to study the geometric structures and the nitrogen adsorption properties of BaO adlayer on Ru(0001) surface. It is suggested that BaO adlayer is more stable on Ru(0001) surface at low coverage. A configuration is observed in surface phase at low coverage. In this structure oxygen is adsorbed on the hcp site of one p(1 1) cell, and barium is adsorbed close to the top site of the same p(1 1) cell. Bond length of oxygen and ruthenium is calculated to be 0.209 nm, longer than the EXAFS experimental value about 0.018 nm. Nitrogen prefers to be adsorbed on the sites close to barium. Nitrogen adsorption energies at those sites are calculated to be in a range from 0.70 to 0.87 eV, which are bigger than those at the sites close to oxygen. Adsorption sites near barium atoms have more activities to weaken nitrogen. The lowest N-N stretching vibrational frequency on the sites is about 1946 cm-1, less than the highest frequency on sites around oxygen (about 130 cm- 1). Bond strengths of nitrogen on Ru(0001) /BaO surface are between those on clean Ru(0001) and Ru(0001) /Ba surface. The adsorption properties of sites around BaO layer are determined by chemical characteristic of barium and oxygen. Electron transfer from barium to ruthenium enhances the hybridization between ruthenium and nitrogen by reducing and increasing the occupation of * and * orbitals respectively.

Abstract: China Academy of Engineering Physics terahertz free electron laser (CAEP THz FEL,CTFEL) is the first THz FEL oscillator in China, which is jointly built by CAEP,Peking University and Tsinghua University. It is designed as a high-repetition-rate and high-duty-cycle linac-based FEL facility. This THz FEL mainly consists of a gallium arsenide (GaAs) photocathode high-voltage direct current (DC) gun,a superconducting radio frequency (RF) linac,a planar undulator, and a quasi-concentric optical resonator. The DC gun provides a high-brightness electron beam with the bunch charge of about 100 pC and the repetition rate of 54.167~MHz.The normalized emittance of the electron beam is less than 10m,and the energy spread is less than 0.75%.A 24-cell superconducting RF accelerator provides an effective field gradient of about 10 MV/m and energizes the electron beam to 6-8~MeV.The beam then goes through the undulator and generates the spontaneous radiation, which is reflected back and forth in the optical resonator and then stimulated by the electron beam. The first stimulated saturation of CTFEL in the macro-pulse mode was obtained in August,2017.In this paper, the THz spectrum is measured by a Fourier spectrometer (Bruker VERTEX 80 V).The macro-pulse energy is measured by an absolute energy meter from Thomas Keating Instruments. The longitudinal beam length is preliminarily calculated by the auto-correlation curve from the time-domain signal of the spectrometer. The macro-pulse duration is captured by a GeGa cryogenic detector from QMC Instrument. The measurement results indicate that the terahertz laser frequency is continuously adjustable from 2 THz to 3 THz.The macro-pulse average power is more than 10 W and the micro-pulse power is more than 0.3 MW.The single-pass gain is larger than 2.5%. This facility is now working in macro-pulse mode in the first step, also called step one.The minimum macro-pulse duration is about 50s and the maximum is about 2 ms.The macro-pulse repetition is 1 Hz or 5 Hz.The typical pulse duration and repetition rate are 1 ms and 1 Hz,respectively. In the middle of 2018,the duty cycle will upgrade to more than 10% as step two.And the continuous wave (CW) operation will be obtained in step three by the end of 2018.The spectrum adjustment range will also be expanded to cover from 1 THz to 4 THz by then. Some application experiments have been carried out on the platform of CTFEL.This facility will greatly promote the development of THz science and its applications in material science, chemistry science, biomedicine science and many other cutting-edge areas in general.

Abstract: Neutron capture reaction is one of the neutron reactions and plays an important role in using reactor control rods and shell materials, designing nuclear device structures, and studying nuclear astrophysics S processes and element origins. The 4π BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 detection device has advantages such as high time resolution, low neutron sensitivity, and high detection efficiency, thus making it suitable for measuring neutron radiation capture reaction cross-section data. In order to fill the gap in our neutron capture reaction data in the keV energy range and improve their accuracy, the Key Laboratory of Nuclear Data at the Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) has established a Gamma Total Absorption Facility (GTAF), which consists of 28 hexagonal BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 crystals and 12 pentagonal BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 crystals to form a spherical shell with an external diameter of 25 cm and an internal diameter of 10 cm, covering 95.2% of the solid angles. The Back-n beam line of the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a back-streaming white beam line that covers neutron energy ranging from a few eV to several hundred MeV, making it suitable for measuring neutron capture cross-sections. The reaction cross-section data of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au is measured by using GTAF on the Back-n beam line. The measurement data are preliminarily background deducted through energy screening, PSD method, and crystal multiplicity screening. Subsequently, the background is analyzed and deducted based on the measurement data of 〈 sup 〉 nat 〈 /sup 〉 C and empty samples, and the yield of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au capture reaction is obtained. Resonance parameters are a set of parameters extracted from experimental data to describe the resonance curve, which can eliminate the influence of experimental conditions on resonance data and are more important than the cross-section obtained from experiments. The resonance energy, neutron resonance width, and gamma resonance width parameters of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au at 1–100 eV are fitted by using the SAMMY program. From the comparison between the resonance curves obtained from experimental measurements and the resonance parameters obtained from fitting with the ENDF/B-VIII.0 database, it can follow that the experimental measurement results are in good agreement with the database, nevertheless, there exist some differences in the resonance parameter, which may be due to the GTAF energy resolution, Back-n neutron spectrum measurement accuracy, and the experimental background deduction method. Our next work is to identify the sources of difference.

Abstract: At present, there exist few proton-beam terminals for the detector calibration in the world. Meanwhile, most of these terminals provide monoenergetic protons. Back-n white neutron source from China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS) was put into operation in 2018. Based on the white neutron flux ranging from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV from the CSNS Back-n white neutron source, continuous-energy protons involved in a wide energy spectrum can be acquired from the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el) reaction. Adopting this method, a new research platform for researches such as proton calibration is realized at CSNS. As hydrogen exists as gas at normal temperature and pressure, in the selecting of the proton-converting target, the hydrogen-rich compounds are preferential considered. Considering the reaction cross sections of the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el), 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, p)〈sup〉12〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, d)〈sup〉11〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, t)〈sup〉10〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, 〈sup〉3〈/sup〉He)〈sup〉10〈/sup〉Be, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, α)〈sup〉9〈/sup〉Be and 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, γ)〈sup〉2〈/sup〉H, polyethylene and polypropylene are suitable for serving as targets in this research. Based on a 3U PXIe, digitizers with 1 GSps sampling rate and 12 bit resolution are utilized to digitize and record the output signals of telescopes. The time and amplitude information of each signal are extracted from its recorded waveform. Proton fluxes can be calculated by using the neutron energy spectrum and the cross section of the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el) reaction. Using the γ-flash event as the starting time of the time-of-flight (TOF) and the time information of signal in detector as the stopping time, the kinematic energy of each secondary proton can be deduced from the TOF and the angle of the detector. A calibration experiment on three charged particle telescopes, with each telescope consisting of a silicon detector and a CsI(Tl) detector, is carried out on this research platform. The readout methods of the CsI(Tl) detectors in these three telescopes are different. In the calibration experiment, Δ〈i〉E-〈/i〉〈i〉E〈/i〉 two-dimensional spectra and amplitude-〈i〉E〈/i〉〈sub〉p〈/sub〉 two-dimensional spectra of these telescopes are obtained. Through comparing these particle identification spectra, the SiPM is chosen as the signal readout method for CsI(Tl) detectors in the charged particle telescopes. These researches provide experimental evidence for the construction of the charged particle telescope at Back-n, and also illustrate the feasibility of wide-energy spectrum proton calibration based on the Back-n white neutron source.

Abstract: The data of neutron capture cross section are very important for the research of nuclear astrophysics, advanced nuclear energy development. Owing to the limitation of neutron source and detector, the experimental data of neutron capture cross section in an energy range of 1 eV–10 keV were almost blank in China. The first Chinese gamma-ray total absorption facility has been constructed in the key laboratory of nuclear data at China institute of atomic energy, which consists of 40 BaF〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 detector units. The BaF〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 crystal shell with a thickness of 15 cm and an inner radius of 10 cm covers 95.2% of the solid angle. On-line measurement method of neutron capture reaction cross section is established on the back-streaming white neutron source of China spallation neutron source by using the upgraded facility. The cross section of 〈sup〉197〈/sup〉Au neutron capture reaction is measured for the first time under the experimental condition of irregular 30 mm neutron beam spot. The measured position of resonance peak is well consistent with the relevant data of ENDF evaluation database, which verifies the reliability of the measurement device and measurement technology, and thus laying the foundation for the acquisition of high precision cross section in future.

Abstract: The back-streaming neutron beam line (Back-n) was built in the beginning of 2018, which is part of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). The Back-n is the first white neutron beam line in China, and its main application is for nuclear data measurement. For most of neutron-induced nuclear reaction measurements based on white neutron facilities, the beam of gamma rays accompanied with neutron beam is one of the most important experimental backgrounds. The back streaming neutron beam is transported directly from the spallation target to the experimental station without any moderator or shielding, the flux of the in-beam gamma rays in the experimental station is much larger than those of these facilities with neutron moderator and shielding. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the influence of in-beam gamma rays on the experimental results. Studies of the in-beam gamma rays are carried out at the back-n. Monte-Carlo simulation is employed to obtain the energy distribution and the time structure of the in-beam gamma rays. According to the simulation results, when the neutron flight time is longer than 1.0 μs the energy distribution of the in-beam gamma rays does not vary with flight time. Therefore, the time structure of these gamma rays can be measured without the correction of the detection efficiency. In this work, the time structure of the in-beam gamma rays in the low neutron energy region is measured by both direct and indirect methods. In the direct measurement, a 〈sup〉6〈/sup〉Li loaded ZnS(Ag) scintillator is located on the neutron beam line and the time of flight method is used to determine the time structure of neutrons and gamma rays. The gamma rays are separated from neutrons with pulse-shape discrimination. The black filter method is used to verify the particle discrimination results. In the indirect measurement, the C〈sub〉6〈/sub〉D〈sub〉6〈/sub〉 scintillation detectors are used to measure the gamma rays scattered off a Pb sample on the way of the neutron beam. The time structure of the in-beam gamma rays is derived from that of the scattered gamma rays. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulations with the time-of-flight between 12 μs and 2.0 ms. Besides, according to the simulation results, the intensity of the in-beam gamma rays is 1.21 × 10〈sup〉6〈/sup〉 s〈sup〉–1〈/sup〉·cm〈sup〉–2〈/sup〉 in the center of the experimental station 2 of Back-n, which is 76.5 m away from the spallation target of CSNS.
