Abstract: Infrared Absorption measurements of oxygen in silicon and germanium were made with IE Fourier Transform Spectrometer at temperatures between 6 K and 300 K in the region of 400-4000cm-1. Resolution was up to 0.5cm-1 when high resolution conditions were adopted.Detection limit and sources of error on oxygen concentration of silicon and germanium determined by infrared absorption measurement at low temperature were identified. Using a 2 cm thick sample, the- lower limit of detectability for oxygen at 20 K is estimated to be 9.6×1014 oxygen atom. cm-3 and 3.0×1014 oxygen atom. cm-3 in silicon and germanium respectively. The oxygen concentration of CZ germanium single crystals with different growth conditions was also studied and these results determined by IE measurements havebeen investigated and discussed at temper-lithium precipitation technique.Temperature-dependent fine structure of 1106 cm-3 absorption band of silicon with different oxygen concentration have been investigated and discussed at temper atures between 6 K and 300 K.

Abstract: One layer SiNx:H films with different thickness are deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition to prepare several kinds of polycrystalline silicon color solar cells. The optical and electrical properties are tested by instruments and simulated by PC1D. And the analysis shows that 1) when the antireflection film thickness is less than 50 nm, the deficiencies of color solar cells and solar modules are mainly influenced by open circuit voltage (Voc) and short circuit current (Isc); when the antireflection film thickness is greater than 50 nm, the passivation of H ions is stable and the deficiencies are mainly influenced by Isc; 2) the efficiency of most color solar cells is lower than that of blue ones, but the color solar cell will have some gains after packaging, which is because of the better optical matching of reflective film with ethylene-vinyl acetal copo and glass.

Abstract: Utilizing the formula of electromagnetic force and input power, we have derived the expression of input power of a spherical sample for a general electromagnetic levitation inductor without including the current of the inducer. Combining the power dissipation model of the spherical sample in free-convection gas medium and the expression of input power without including the current of inducer, the relation between processing parameters of electromagnetic levitation and temperature of levitation sample is established. The electromagnetic melting of spherical (TbDy)Fe2 alloys under the protection of Ar is employed as an example to study the effect of processing parameters on the temperature of levitation sample obtained by numerical computation. According to computation results and the character of actual electromagnetic levitation, the methods to decrease the temperature of the levitation melted sample are obtained: i.e. reducing the radius of the levitation melted sample, employing low frequencies of the inducer, adjusting the position of the levitated sample to a position at which the lowest levitation melting temperature can be obtained, reducing the radius of the lower levitation coil, increasing the space interval between the upper stability controlling coil and the lower levitation coil, increasing the radius of the upper stability controlling coil, and increasing the turns of the upper stability controlling coil.

Abstract: Based on the avalanche model, the evolution of femtosecond laser induced micro-e xplosion in fused silica was investigated. The microscopic processes, including the production of conduction band electron (CBE), laser energy deposition, CBE a nd energy diffusion were solved by a finite element method in two-dimensional cy lindrical coordinates. The accumulated net charge and the electrostatic field we re also calculated. The results indicate that the CBE and energy diffusions play an important role in the micro-explosion in dielectrics.

Abstract: Single-shot damage morphology of magnesium fluoride induced by femtosecond laser pulse was studied with scanning electron microscope (SEM). The laser pulses used were 800 nm central wavelength. By the linear relationship between the area of damage spot and the logarithm of the laser energy, we measured the dependence of damage threshold on the pulse duration ranging from 55 femtosecond (fs) to 750 fs. We have calculated the two-photon absorption in the conduction band and improved the multiple-equation model (Phys. Rev. Lett. 92 187401, 2004). The experimental results are well explained by our model.

Abstract: The use of optical frequency domain phase conjugation (FDPC) to suppress pulse impairments due to cross-phase modulation (XPM) in optical fiber systems is propo sed. Evolution of Gaussian pulses in the system using midway FDPC is analyzed thoretically and simulated numerically. It is found that pulse waveform impairmen ts induced by XPM can be suppressed effectively by FDPC. The impairments due to group-velocity dispersion and self-phase modulation can be suppressed simultaneously. Suitable initial time delay and pulse chirp of pulses can improve the suppression and compensation for the distortion.

Abstract: A 60 kW electron beam is used to study the microstructure and optical property evolutions as well as laser induced damage threshold of fused silica after irradiation at room temperature. Optical microscopic results indicate that cracks appear at the surface of SiO2 after electron beam irradiation, owing to the thermal effect, and that the crack density and size increase with increasing radiation dose. The morphology of the surface cracks is analyzed by using atomic force microscope and the width of crack is about 1 μm. In addition, there are a large number of debris particles with sizes of 0.1-1 μm on the surface. From the optical absorption spectrum of each of all samples, a weak absorption peak at 394 nm is observed and the absorbance increases at the beginning then decreases with increasing electron-radiation dose. Before and after irradiation, three absorption bands at 460 nm, 496 nm and 520 nm are clearly observed and their intensities first increase and then decrease, which is consistent with the results of absorption spectra. The effect of electron dose on the laser induced damage threshold (LIDT) at 355 nm is investigated and the results indicate that the LIDT decreases with increasing dose. At the lower electron doses, the color centers are responsible for the decrease of LIDT. However, at the higher electron doses, the decrease of LIDT is due to the light modulation and absorption induced by microscale cracks and debris particles at the surface of irradiated fused silica.

Abstract: Neutron capture reaction is one of the neutron reactions and plays an important role in using reactor control rods and shell materials, designing nuclear device structures, and studying nuclear astrophysics S processes and element origins. The 4π BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 detection device has advantages such as high time resolution, low neutron sensitivity, and high detection efficiency, thus making it suitable for measuring neutron radiation capture reaction cross-section data. In order to fill the gap in our neutron capture reaction data in the keV energy range and improve their accuracy, the Key Laboratory of Nuclear Data at the Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) has established a Gamma Total Absorption Facility (GTAF), which consists of 28 hexagonal BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 crystals and 12 pentagonal BaF 〈 sub 〉 2 〈 /sub 〉 crystals to form a spherical shell with an external diameter of 25 cm and an internal diameter of 10 cm, covering 95.2% of the solid angles. The Back-n beam line of the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a back-streaming white beam line that covers neutron energy ranging from a few eV to several hundred MeV, making it suitable for measuring neutron capture cross-sections. The reaction cross-section data of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au is measured by using GTAF on the Back-n beam line. The measurement data are preliminarily background deducted through energy screening, PSD method, and crystal multiplicity screening. Subsequently, the background is analyzed and deducted based on the measurement data of 〈 sup 〉 nat 〈 /sup 〉 C and empty samples, and the yield of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au capture reaction is obtained. Resonance parameters are a set of parameters extracted from experimental data to describe the resonance curve, which can eliminate the influence of experimental conditions on resonance data and are more important than the cross-section obtained from experiments. The resonance energy, neutron resonance width, and gamma resonance width parameters of 〈 sup 〉 197 〈 /sup 〉 Au at 1–100 eV are fitted by using the SAMMY program. From the comparison between the resonance curves obtained from experimental measurements and the resonance parameters obtained from fitting with the ENDF/B-VIII.0 database, it can follow that the experimental measurement results are in good agreement with the database, nevertheless, there exist some differences in the resonance parameter, which may be due to the GTAF energy resolution, Back-n neutron spectrum measurement accuracy, and the experimental background deduction method. Our next work is to identify the sources of difference.

Abstract: At present, there exist few proton-beam terminals for the detector calibration in the world. Meanwhile, most of these terminals provide monoenergetic protons. Back-n white neutron source from China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS) was put into operation in 2018. Based on the white neutron flux ranging from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV from the CSNS Back-n white neutron source, continuous-energy protons involved in a wide energy spectrum can be acquired from the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el) reaction. Adopting this method, a new research platform for researches such as proton calibration is realized at CSNS. As hydrogen exists as gas at normal temperature and pressure, in the selecting of the proton-converting target, the hydrogen-rich compounds are preferential considered. Considering the reaction cross sections of the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el), 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, p)〈sup〉12〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, d)〈sup〉11〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, t)〈sup〉10〈/sup〉B, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, 〈sup〉3〈/sup〉He)〈sup〉10〈/sup〉Be, 〈sup〉12〈/sup〉C(n, α)〈sup〉9〈/sup〉Be and 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, γ)〈sup〉2〈/sup〉H, polyethylene and polypropylene are suitable for serving as targets in this research. Based on a 3U PXIe, digitizers with 1 GSps sampling rate and 12 bit resolution are utilized to digitize and record the output signals of telescopes. The time and amplitude information of each signal are extracted from its recorded waveform. Proton fluxes can be calculated by using the neutron energy spectrum and the cross section of the 〈sup〉1〈/sup〉H(n, el) reaction. Using the γ-flash event as the starting time of the time-of-flight (TOF) and the time information of signal in detector as the stopping time, the kinematic energy of each secondary proton can be deduced from the TOF and the angle of the detector. A calibration experiment on three charged particle telescopes, with each telescope consisting of a silicon detector and a CsI(Tl) detector, is carried out on this research platform. The readout methods of the CsI(Tl) detectors in these three telescopes are different. In the calibration experiment, Δ〈i〉E-〈/i〉〈i〉E〈/i〉 two-dimensional spectra and amplitude-〈i〉E〈/i〉〈sub〉p〈/sub〉 two-dimensional spectra of these telescopes are obtained. Through comparing these particle identification spectra, the SiPM is chosen as the signal readout method for CsI(Tl) detectors in the charged particle telescopes. These researches provide experimental evidence for the construction of the charged particle telescope at Back-n, and also illustrate the feasibility of wide-energy spectrum proton calibration based on the Back-n white neutron source.

Abstract: The data of neutron capture cross section are very important for the research of nuclear astrophysics, advanced nuclear energy development. Owing to the limitation of neutron source and detector, the experimental data of neutron capture cross section in an energy range of 1 eV–10 keV were almost blank in China. The first Chinese gamma-ray total absorption facility has been constructed in the key laboratory of nuclear data at China institute of atomic energy, which consists of 40 BaF〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 detector units. The BaF〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 crystal shell with a thickness of 15 cm and an inner radius of 10 cm covers 95.2% of the solid angle. On-line measurement method of neutron capture reaction cross section is established on the back-streaming white neutron source of China spallation neutron source by using the upgraded facility. The cross section of 〈sup〉197〈/sup〉Au neutron capture reaction is measured for the first time under the experimental condition of irregular 30 mm neutron beam spot. The measured position of resonance peak is well consistent with the relevant data of ENDF evaluation database, which verifies the reliability of the measurement device and measurement technology, and thus laying the foundation for the acquisition of high precision cross section in future.
