Description / Table of Contents: Dimethylfluorophosphine may be obtained on reacting the vapour of the respective chlorine compound with active potassium fluoride. (CH3)2PF undergoes decomposition by disproportionation and hydrolysis quite readily. It is spontaneously inflammable and easily oxidised. (Products and formulas see “Inhaltsübersicht”). Hydrogen fluoride forms a 1:1 adduct, which could be recognized as dimethyldifluorophosphoran. (CH3)2PHF2 is also formed by the cleavage of tetramethyldiphosphine by hydrogen fluoride and as a byproduct when dimethylfluorophosphine and dimethylphosphine are condensed to yield tetramethyldiphosphine. Vapour pressure data, boiling and melting points, mass, IR, and NMR spectra of the new compounds are reported.
