Description / Table of Contents: Summary Using autoradiography of frozen sections it was demonstrated in guinea-pigs, that125I−is present in the excretory epithelium cells of the tracheal mucosa. Goblet cells do not have any importance for the iodine metabolism of the tracheal wall. In the parotid gland125I−was located mainly in epithelial cells of the duct system. Sometimes a very small amount of iodide was found in the cells of the acini.
