Abstract:
An equation of surface tension has been derived from significant structure theory, by introducing the approximation that the surface of liquids consists of a monomolecular layer in which a molecular has a sublimation energy different from that for a bulk liquid molecule. The theory is successfully applied to simple liquids, polar liquids, and molten metals at various temperatures.
