Zusammenfassung Die Bestimmung von Trimethylaminhydrochlorid in Cholinchlorid läßt sich nach einem dünnschicht-chromatographischen Verfahren auf Kieselgel durchführen. Das verwendete Fließmittelsystem ist Chloroform/Methanol/Eisessig/Wasser (70∶35∶5∶5). Als Detektion hat sich das Bedampfen mit Jod am besten bewährt. Die quantitative Auswertung des Trimethylaminhydrochlorid-Gehalts erfolgt über Vergleichskonzentrationen, wobei jeweils eine entsprechende trimethylaminfreie Cholinchloridmenge mit aufgetragen wird. Die Methode gestattet es, bis zu 0,05% Trimethylaminhydrochlorid in Cholinchlorid zu erkennen.

Abstract The determination is carried out on silicagel plates in chloroform/methanol/acetic acid/water (70∶35∶5∶5). Iodine vapour was found to be most suitable for detection. For identification and quantitative determination by comparison trimethylamine hydrochloride is applied together with the same amount of choline chloride as in the sample to be determined. The method allows the determination of 0.05% of trimethylamin hydrochloride.
