    Notes: Summary About 60% of cervical lymph node metastasis from unknown primary site the source of metastasis will never be found. This is demonstrated in our material and in 1365 cases collected from the literature. There are a lot of patients living more than 10 years without signs of recurrence of the disease after initial therapy only to the lymph node metastasis. Immunological reactions of the host may result in controlling the primary tumor but not the lymph node metastasis. In this way the phenomenon of permanent occult primary tumor in some cases of cervical lymph node metastasis may be explained.

    Notes: Summary Complications and rate of recurrence of 85 primary pleomorphic parotid tumors during the 12 year period 1965–1977 is reviewed. In 22 cases an enucleation, in 53 a subtotal, in 10 a total parotidectomy was done. Based on the data in this study and survey of literature, it is our opinion that subtotal and total parotidectomy is best employed primarily for benign pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland. By increased facial nerve weakness and higher rate of recurrence enucleation should not be applied.
