Abstract:
The resistivity, susceptibility, and thermopower of single-crystal MnSb, CoSb and NiSb are presented as functions of excess metal concentration. From these results, we propose that the electronic structure of the compounds may be described by metal 3d bands overlapping broader Sb p bands with the Fermi level lying near the top of the d bands in CoSb and above the d bands in NiSb. It is argued that the excess metal enters the structure as a neutral interstitial.
