    Notes: Abstract The kinetics of the Staebler-Wronski effect ina-Si:H were investigated experimentally. The rate of recovery from the illuminated state B to the annealed state A was observed at various temperatures in undoped,n- andp-dopeda-Si:H. The data can be characterized by a thermally activated relaxation time with an activation energy decreasing with increasing doping concentration. The results are compared with previous data and existing models.

    Notes: Abstract The temperature and concentration dependence of the soft zone boundary mode in heavily reduced SrTiO3 was studied by means of inelastic neutron scattering. It was found that the 105 K structural phase transition is suppressed completely for about 2% oxygen vacancies. The results are discussed in terms of recent models.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wird ein Verfahren zur Analyse von Sedimentationsstaub beschrieben, welches bezüglich Probenahme und -präparation sowie Auswertung der Meßergebnisse weitgehend den Erfordernissen des Umweltschutzes angepaßt und für Routineanalysen geeignet ist. Fehler, welche dadurch entstehen, daß die Meßproben mangels Substanz nicht in Sättigungsdicke vorliegen, werden durch eine auf der Intensität der von der Meßprobe kohärent gestreuten Strahlung basierenden Korrektur vermieden. Hierdurch wird es möglich, auch geringe Mengen Staub (5 mg) hinreichend genau (Fehler 〈 10%) zu analysieren.
    Notes: Summary A procedure for analysing sedimented atmospheric dust by X-ray fluorescence is described, which with regard to taking and preparing the samples as well as evaluating the measurement results is adapted to the requirements of environmental protection and suitable for routine analysis. Errors arising because of the not infinite thickness of the sample with regard to the characteristic X-rays of the elements to be determined will be corrected on the basis of the intensity of the coherently scattered exciting radiation. Thus it is possible to analyse also small quantities of dust (5 mg) with an error of less than 10%.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation and Crystal Structure of PtI3, a Mixed-valence Platinum (II, IV) IodidePtI3 was obtained by thermal decomposition of PtI4 in a closed system at 300°C and 8 atm iodine pressure. Single crystals were formed by the reaction of PtI4 with aqueous solutions of KI and I2 at 270°C. The crystal structure of the monoclinic compound (a = 673.5(2) pm; b = 1206.1(4) pm; c = 1331.3(5) pm; β = 101.25(6)°; Z = 8; space group C2/c-C2h6) contains square planar PtI4 and octahedral PtI6 groups which are connected by common edges to chains.
    Notes: PtI3 entsteht beim thermischen Abbau von PtI4 im geschlossenen System bei 8 atm I2-Druck und Temperaturen um 300°C. Einkristalle der Verbindung wurden durch Umsetzung von PtI4 mit KI und I2 in wäßriger Lösung bei 270°C erhalten. In der Kristallstruktur der monoklinen Verbindung (a = 673,5(2) pm; b = 1206,1(4) pm; c = 1331,3(5) pm; β = 101,25(6)°; Z = 8; Raumgruppe C2/c-C2h6) sind planare PtI4- und oktaedrische PtI6-Baugruppen über gemeinsame Kanten zu Ketten verknüpft.
