Abstract: The diffraction contrast in the X-ray topographs, taken for the crystal face parallel to the c-axis of the α-LiIO3 single crystals, appears to change remarkably under the action of an applied DC field along the c axis. The contrast in the topographs is restored after the removal of the applied field. After either turning on or turning off the DC voltage, relaxation processes are observed in both the change and the restoration of the diffraction contrast in the X-ray topographs. The change of the contrast depends on the polarity and magnitude of the applied voltage, but appears to be independent of the wave length of the X-ray.The X-ray topographs taken under the condition that a DC field is applied to the crystal displays the macroscopic crystal defects decorated by the space charges. In other words, we can observe the originally undetectable defects, while the space charges accumulate on the crystal defects, the local lattice distortion around the defects is enhanced.

Abstract: A method of measuring the electron cyclotron radiation from plasmas by using confocal resonant cavity and sweep frequency receiver is proposed. A radiation spectrum expression for a uniform plasma slab in the confocal resonant cavity has been derived. The analysis shows this method can independently measure TOKAMAK's electron temperature and its radial distribution. Furthermore, as a quasi-optical receiving system, it possesses high spatial resolution power.

Abstract: The energy aberration of crystal monochromator in the case of continuous X-ray spectrum, for instance EXAFS, has been discussed. Based on the fact that the intensity of continuous X-ray varies slowly with the energy and can be treated as a constant, we propose a method of calculating average resolution for flat crystal and the Johann and Johansson arrangement. We have also pointed out some inappropriate points in analyses on the reflect geometry of Johann arrangement described in previous publications. It is shown that Johann crystal can provide a better resolution than that commonly believed.

Abstract: The effect on amplitude of EXAFS from harmonic caused by high order diffraction of crystal monochromator is discussed. The general expression and calculated results are presented. It is shown that the harmornic decreases the amplitude of EXAFS and the amount of decrease is related to such factors as intensity ratio of harmonic to fundamental, thickness and absorption coefficient of specimen. K edge EXAFS spectra with and without harmonic for different thickness copper foils have been measured respectively, and the distortion of single shell EXAFS amplitudes have been extracted. The measured results are consistent with calculated ones. Consequently, a method to correct the harmonic effect on EXAFS amplitude is proposed.
