Abstract:
Allein in Deutschland sind 44 unterschiedliche Stechmückenarten bekannt, die große Unterschiede in ihrer Lebensweise aufweisen. Einige Arten können sich wegen ihrer Massenvermehrung ganz empfindlich als Lästlinge bemerkbar machen. Seit mehreren Jahren geht man am Oberrhein mit neuen biologischen Methoden erfolgreich gegen diese Plagegeister vor. Die mikrobiologische Stechmückenbekämpfung ist nicht nur besonders umweltverträglich, sondern sie könnte auch als Modell für Länder der Subtropen und Tropen dienen, wo Stechmücken gefährliche Krankheiten wie Malaria, Gelb‐ und Denguefieber, Filariosen oder Enzephalitis übertragen.
