    Notes: Abstract We propose a Monte Carlo method for estimating the correlation exponent of a stationary ergodic sequence. The estimator can be considered as a bootstrap version of the classical Hill estimator. A simulation study shows that the method yields reasonable estimates.

    Notes: Abstract In this paper, two kinds of elliptic-groove waveguides are presented. One of them has never been studied before. With the help of Mathieu function and mode-matching method, the field components and characteristic equation of the elliptic-groove waveguides are obtained for the first time. Then their dispersion characteristics for the dominant mode i.e. the mode TE e11 1 are also studied. The gotten conclusions have very important values in theoretical study and actual application for the two kinds of the elliptic-groove waveguides.
