Abstract:
Apolipoprotein E (apoE) exerts antiatherogenic effects, but precise mechanisms remain unclear. The present study demonstrates that apoE suppress IL-1β-induced inflammatory activation of vascular smooth muscle cells by targeting IL receptor-associated kinase-1 (IRAK-1) and transcription factors NF-κB and AP-1 in a process dependent on protein kinase A (PKA).
