Abstract:
In this letter, a tunable Ti:sapphire laser pumped by a frequency‐doubled Q‐switched Nd:YAG laser at a repetition rate of 10 Hz is demonstrated. By using two dense flint glass prisms as dispersion element, a tuning range from 745 to 855 nm with a linewidth of 0.8 nm (FWHM) was achieved. At an incident pump energy of 40 mJ, the maximum output energy was 5.5 mJ at 800 nm with a pulse width of 23.8 ns (FWHM), which led to a slope efficiency of 36.4% from the 532 nm pump laser to the Ti:sapphire laser. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
