Kurzfassung:
Shear stress maybe the most crucial local factor influencing atherogenesis. Enhanced external counterpulsation can be used as a means of increasing pulsatile shear stress in vivo. It exerts an atheroprotective effect through modulation of proinflammatory signal pathway in a porcine model of hypercholesterolemia.
