Abstract:
In recent years, a change from the fossil resources coal, oil, and gas to renewable energy sources is underway, whereby biomass from energy plants gains importance. In Germany, this biomass is mainly produced from corn, rape, and further cereals. A study is presented which focuses on the extraction and purification of selective components as a dual‐use concept besides energy production from biomass. A total conceptual process design is laid out, considering the current constraints for biomass use. As an example, the variation of the raw materials as well as the stability of the ingredients and limitations in solvent use can be named. A process is proposed which shows the extraction to be technically and economically feasible.
