Kurzfassung: In this paper, nonvolatile bipolar resistive memory effects were observed in nitrogen doped diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films prepared by a pulsed laser deposition technique. It is observed that the fabricated Pt/Ti/DLC/Pt structure exhibits good memory performances with an ON/OFF ratio & gt;10, data retention time & gt;104 s, and low operation voltage ( & lt;1.5 V). The current mechanism is fitted by Ohmic and space charge limited conduction laws in low resistance state and high resistance state scenarios. The formation/rupture of metal filaments is due to the diffusion of the titanium ions.

Kurzfassung: Tm 3 + / Yb 3 + codoped Y2O3 transparent ceramics were fabricated and characterized from the point of upconversion luminescence. All the samples exhibited high transparency not only in near-infrared band but also in visible region. Under 980 nm excitation, the ceramics gave upconversion luminescence with very intense blue (485 nm) and considerably intense violet (360 nm) emissions. It was worthy to point out that the upconversion luminescence contained six emission bands, which dispersed in the region from 294 to 809 nm. The strongest blue emission (485 nm) was obtained with (Tm0.002Yb0.03Y0.958Zr0.01)2O3 ceramic (Yb/Tm=15). The mechanism of all upconversion emission bands were investigated in detail. The absorption, emission, and gain cross-section of blue emission (485 nm) were calculated, which indicated that Tm3+/Yb3+ codoped Y2O3 transparent ceramic has tremendous potential in short wavelength laser.

Kurzfassung: Near infrared (NIR) quantum cutting involving the conversion of an absorbed blue photon into two NIR photons emission has been realized in heavy Yb doped Ce0.03Yb3xY(2.97−3x)Al5O12 (x=0.1, 0.25, and 0.5) transparent ceramics. Upon the 467 nm excitation, the energy transfer process was dominated by the cooperative downconversion from the 5d1 state of one Ce3+ ion to the F25/2 state of two Yb3+ ions. The influence of the Ce4+–Yb2+ charge transfer state (CTS) should not contribute much to the energy transfer process for the large energy gap between Ce3+:5d1 and the CTS. The calculated quantum yield of Yb3+ for the x=0.25 sample without concentration quenching was 175.4%.

Kurzfassung: One of the primary challenges to introduce hydrogen on the energy market is to improve onboard hydrogen storage and research more efficient distribution technologies to increase the amount of stored gas while lessening the storage pressure. The aim of this paper is to study hydrogen storage in an on-board hydrogen adsorption storage tank under low temperature and moderate pressures through the finite element analysis software Comsol MultiphysicsTM. The experimental study is carried out in a cylindrical tank with granular adsorbents in which the bed temperature is measured at various positions. The adsorbents we used in the experiment are activated carbon (NORIT R0.8) and metal-organic framework (Cu-BTC). Compared with the experiment results, the simulated pressure and temperature of the activated carbon (NORIT R0.8) have better agreement with experimental results than the metal-organic framework (Cu-BTC). The material properties of Cu-BTC are necessary to be identified accurately. Owing to the mass flow rate controlled comparatively accurate, the simulated mass balance have a good accordance with the experiment results. The effective thermal conductivity of the adsorbent bed and the heat transfer coefficient of the tank wall with liquid nitrogen affect significantly the heat transport during the adsorption process. The simulation results are very sensitive with the boundary type of inlet and other outer boundaries of the tank, which is valuable for further study.

Kurzfassung: We report here the predictions on anisotropy of shock sensitivity and of chemical process initiation in single crystal β-octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (β-HMX) using compressive shear reactive dynamics (CS-RD) model with ReaxFF-lg reactive force field. Analysis of resolved shear stress induced by uniaxial compression along three shock directions normal to (110), (011), and (010) planes leads to identify eight slip systems as candidates for shear deformation. For each of the eight slip systems, non-equilibrium reactive dynamics simulations were carried out to determine thermal, mechanical, and chemical responses to shear deformation. Shock direction normal to (010) plane exhibits large shear stress barriers arising from steric hindrance between molecules of adjacent layers leading to local dramatic energy and temperature increases under shear flow that in turn accelerate chemical bond breaking and initial product formation processes, promoting further molecular decomposition and eventually transition to detonation. This suggests that single crystal β-HMX is sensitive to shocks in direction normal to (010) plane. Shock directions normal to (110) and (011) planes reveal significantly less steric hindrance, leading to more modest energy and temperature increases followed by slower chemical reaction initiation. Thus, shock directions normal to (110) and (011) planes are less sensitive than shock direction normal to (010) plane, which agree with interpretations from currently available plate impact experiments on HMX. This validation of CS-RD and ReaxFF for characterizing sensitivity of single crystal energetic materials indicates that these methods can be applied to study sensitivity for more complex polymer bonded explosives and solid composite propellants having complex microstructures, corrugated interfaces, as well as defects.

Kurzfassung: Amorphous silicon-zinc-tin-oxide (α-SZTO) thin films were prepared, and their properties were investigated physically and electrically, with an emphasis on the Si effects. An appropriate Si content in the matrix can not only achieve stable and dense films, but also suppress the formation of oxygen vacancies efficiently, due to its high oxygen bonding ability. Thin film transistors (TFTs) with α-SZTO active channel layers exhibited a field-effect mobility of around 1 cm2V−1s−1, an on/off current ratio of 107, and a subthreshold swing of 0.863 V/decade with a good long-term stability. The α-SZTO TFT is a potential candidate for electronic applications.
