Es wurde gefunden, daß der Wirkungsgrad der Pfropfreaktion, der Pfropfungsgrad und die Häufigkeit von den genannten Parametern abhängen.
    Notes: Methyl methacrylate has been grafted onto cellulose pulp using manganic ion as the initiator. The variable parameters studied are initiator and monomer concentrations, temperature and reaction time. The grafting efficiency, degree of grafting and frequency of grafting are found to be dependent on the above mentioned variables.

    Description: As a new formulation in structural analysis, Integrated Force Method has been successfully applied to many structures for civil, mechanical, and aerospace engineering due to the accurate estimate of forces in computation. Right now, it is being further extended to the probabilistic domain. For the assessment of uncertainty effect in system optimization and identification, the probabilistic sensitivity analysis of IFM was further investigated in this study. A set of stochastic sensitivity analysis formulation of Integrated Force Method was developed using the perturbation method. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate its application. Its efficiency and accuracy were also substantiated with direct Monte Carlo simulations and the reliability-based sensitivity method. The numerical algorithm was shown to be readily adaptable to the existing program since the models of stochastic finite element and stochastic design sensitivity are almost identical.

    Description: Reduction of [PtCl6]2− by L-ascorbic acid (H2ASc) in 0.1 M aqueous acid medium has been investigated spectrophotometrically under pseudo-first order condition at [PtCl6]2− = 0.005–0.007 mol dm−3, 0.05 ≤ [H2ASc]/mol dm−3 ≤ 0.3, 298 K ≤ ≤ 308 K, [H+] = 0.14 mol dm−3,  mol dm−3. The redox reaction follows the rate law: d[Pt(IV)]/dt = [H2ASc][Pt(IV)], where is the second-order rate constant and [H2ASc] is the total concentration of ascorbic acid. Electron transfer from [H2ASc] to Pt(IV) center leading to the release of two halide ions and formation of the reaction products, square planner Pt(II) halide complex, and dehydrated ascorbic acid is suggested. This redox reaction follows an outersphere mechanism as Pt(IV) complex is substituted inert. Activation parameters were calculated corresponding to rate of electron transfer reaction . Activation parameters favor the electron transfer reaction.

    Description: The effect of oxygen substitution at the selenium site and manganese substitution at the iron site in FeTe 0.5 Se 0.5 superconductor was investigated. It was found that upon partial O substitution, T c marginally decreases as seen in both resistivity and magnetization experiments. T c decreases even by a small amount of oxygen concentration (as low as 1 %). This observation is in contrast against an earlier work on Fe(Te/Se) samples, 1 wherein T c as well as superconducting volume fraction were reported to increase in the samples annealed in air . Mn-doping leads to a decrease in T c in FeTe 0.5 Se 0.5 , which one would expect considering pair-breaking due to Mn 2+ -ions.

    Description: Two genetic instability pathways viz. chromosomal instability, driven primarily by APC mutation induced deregulated Wnt signaling, and microsatellite instability (MSI) caused by mismatch repair (MMR) inactivation, together account for 〉90% of late-onset colorectal cancer (CRC). Our understanding of early-onset sporadic CRC is however comparatively limited. In addition, most seminal studies have been performed in the western population and analyses of tumorigenesis pathway(s) causing CRC in developing nations have been rare. We performed a comparative analysis of early and late-onset CRC from India with respect to common genetic aberrations including Wnt, KRAS , and p53 (constituting the classical CRC progression sequence) in addition to MSI. Our results revealed the absence of Wnt and MSI in a significant proportion of early-onset as against late-onset CRC in India. In addition, KRAS mutation frequency was significantly lower in early-onset CRC indicating that a significant proportion of CRC in India may follow tumorigenesis pathways distinct from the classical CRC progression sequence. Our study has therefore revealed the possible existence of non-canonical tumorigenesis pathways in early-onset CRC in India. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

    Description: Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) is a clonal haematopoietic stem cell disorder with myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative overlap features, and an inherent tendency to transform to acute myeloid leukaemia. Approximately 30% of patients present with clonal cytogenetic abnormalities, while almost 90% have molecular aberrations involving epigenetic regulation, the spliceosome component machinery, tumour suppressor genes and transcription factors/regulators. Numerous prognostic models exist for CMML, with more recent models incorporating prognostic mutations, such as those involving ASXL1 . Other variables that seem to consistently affect outcomes include the degree of leucocytosis/monocytosis, anaemia and thrombocytopenia. Allogeneic stem cell transplant remains the only curative option for CMML, while hypomethylating agents can be used for transplant-ineligible patients or those without suitable stem cell sources. Targeting biological pathways activated in CMML offers potential hope for more effective and less toxic therapies.

    Description: Macroautophagy (autophagy) is an evolutionarily conserved catabolic process involved in physiological and developmental processes including cell survival, death, and innate immunity. Homologues of most of 36 originally discovered autophagy-related (ATG) genes in yeast have been characterized in higher eukaryotes including insects. In this study, the homologues of ATG3 (TmATG3) and ATG5 (TmATG5) were isolated from the coleopteran beetle, Tenebrio molitor by expressed sequence tag and RNAseq approaches. The cDNA of TmATG3 and TmATG5 comprise open-reading frame sizes of 963 and 792 bp encoding polypeptides of 320 and 263 amino acid residues, respectively. TmATG3 and TmATG5 mRNA are expressed in all developmental stages, and mainly in fat body and hemocytes of larvae. TmATG3 and TmATG5 showed an overall sequence identity of 58–95% to other insect Atg proteins. There exist clear one-to-one orthologs of TmATG3 and TmATG5 in Tribolium and that they clustered together in the gene tree. Depletion of TmATG3 and TmATG5 by RNA interference led to a significant reduction in survival ability of T. molitor larvae against an intracellular pathogen, Listeria monocytogenes. Six days post-Listeria challenge, the survival rate in the dsEGFP-injected (where EGFP is enhanced green fluorescent protein) control larvae was significantly higher (55%) compared to 4 and 3% for TmATG3 and TmATG5 double-stranded RNA injected larvae, respectively. These data suggested that TmATG3 and TmATG5 may play putative role in mediating autophagy-based clearance of Listeria in T. molitor model.

    Description: Lynch syndrome (LS), the most common form of familial CRC predisposition that causes tumor onset at a young age, is characterized by the presence of microsatellite instability (MSI) in tumors due to germline inactivation of mismatch repair (MMR) system. Two MMR genes namely MLH1 and MSH2 account for majority of LS cases while MSH6 and PMS2 may account for a minor proportion. In order to identify MMR genes causing LS in India, we analyzed MSI and determined expression status of the four MMR genes in forty eight suspected LS patient colorectal tumor samples. Though a majority exhibited MSI, only 58% exhibited loss of MMR expression, a significantly low proportion compared to reports from other populations. PCR-DNA sequencing and MLPA-based mutation and exonic deletion/duplication screening respectively, revealed genetic lesions in samples with and without MMR gene expression. Interestingly, tumor samples with and without MMR expression exhibited significant differences with respect to histological (mucin content) and molecular (instability exhibited by mononucleotide microsatellites) features. The study has revealed for the first time a significant proportion of LS tumors not exhibiting loss of MMR expression. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
