Abstract: High-precision absolute determinations of gravitational acceleration g provide important data for many fields such as metrology, geophysics, and geological exploration. In absolute gravimetry, vibrational noise from seismic and other environmental disturbances is one of the limiting factors. Several types of ultra-low vertical vibration isolators have been developed in Tsinghua University. The first one is a passive isolator based on LaCoste spring linkage and can achieve a natural period up to 32 s. The second one is an active isolator employing a two-stage beam structure. The upper beam is suspended from the frame with a hex spring, and the lower beam is suspended from the upper one using a zero-length spring. A feedback circuit is equipped to keep the angle between the two beams at a fixed value. The isolator can achieve a natural period of 100 s. The last one is an active isolator based on a two-stage structure, in which geometric anti-springs are used to support the proof mass. The volume of the isolator is greatly decreased, and the allowable load is increased while maintaining a natural period more than 15 s.

Abstract: The traffic noise map is an important tool for environmental noise management, whose update is notably necessary. A method to quickly update the noise map based on a few noise-monitoring data points is proposed to avoid recollecting regional traffic data and a large amount of noise monitoring. The noise-monitoring data of roads with monitoring are compared with the original noise data in the noise map to obtain the deviation, and the roads that share the similar characteristic as sound sources are clustered. The roads without monitoring are corrected by the average noise deviation of the road class whose characteristic as a sound source is close to the characteristic as a sound source. The update accuracy of this method is analyzed, and a formula to calculate the precision is proposed. Finally, experiments to verify the method and its accuracy are organized; the results show that the method accurately and rapidly updates the noise map.

Abstract: Drug delivery by acoustic waves is a crucial technology for targeted therapy. Recently, a three-layered drug micro-particle was proposed and fabricated, the second shell of which greatly improves both the encapsulation of the drug and the flexibility in its release rate. In this work, the acoustic radiation force (ARF) of an acoustic focused Gaussian beam on a three-layered particle comprising an inner drug core (D), a middle layer of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA), and an outer chitosan shell (CS) is investigated. A three-layered elastic shell (TES) mimics the D–PLGA–CS structure, and the acoustic scattering from and ARF of the D–PLGA–CS are studied using Mie theory. This paper focuses on how the geometry and acoustic parameters of the outer shell influence the ARF, finding that the Poisson's ratio of the outer shell affects the ARF more than does the density or Young's modulus. In addition, this paper finds that the choice of the inner drug has little effect on the ARF acting on the D–PLGA–CS particle. The present work may benefit the acoustic manipulation of both TESs and three-layered drugs.
