    Description: Data obtained by a thermosalinograph (SBE21, SeaBird GmbH) and an external temperature sensor (SBE38, Sea-Bird GmbH) were processed to receive a validated data set of temperature and salinity on board RV Heincke during cruise HE548. Unvalidated data of conductivity sensor, internal and external temperature are extracted from the DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.awi.de) in a 1-second interval. The salinity was calculated using conductivity and internal temperature by applying the Practical Salinity Scale 1978 (PSS-78). After applying different filters, processed data are provided as 5min means of salinity and water temperature aligned with position data taken from master track of the respective cruise. For further details see the processing reports of each cruise.

    Description: Multibeam bathymetry raw data using the ship's own Kongsberg EM 122 multibeam echosounder was not continuously recorded during RV MARIA S. MERIAN cruise MSM55. Data were recorded on 8 days between 13.06.2016 and 29.06.2016 at different locations. The data were primarily archived at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, BSH) and provided to PANGAEA database for data curation and publication. During data acquisition, sound velocity measurements using sound velocity profiles (SVP) was applied on the data for data calibration. SVP raw data are not part of this dataset publication.

    Description: Multibeam data were collected during R/V Heincke cruise HE548. Data recording was executed during systemtic profiling in four areas in North Sea within German EEZ. Data are unprocessed and may contain outliers and blunders. Therefore the data should not directly be used for grid calculations and charting projects but need to be edited furthermore. One file contains a measurement period not exceeding ten minutes. The dataset consists of 1112 files in Kongsberg Simrad Multibeam Processing format (*.all) which are compressed with GZIP to size of 52.1 GB (77.4 GB uncompressed). Data files can be processed using the software packages CARIS HIPS/SIPS or with the open source software package MB-System (https://www.mbari.org/products/research-software/mb-system/).
