Abstract: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic, metabolic illness characterized by an elevation of blood sugar levels. Patients with diabetes show changes in hematological indices. The study aimed to determine hematological indices, ESR, CRP, blood pressure (BP), and weight and their relationship with a fasting blood sugar (FBS) level and different variables in diabetic mellitus patients (DM) compared with healthy control (HC). A total of 202 participants (102 DM group and 100 HC group) were selected randomly. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Blood samples were collected from different places and investigated in Zain Medical Laboratories in Ibb City, Yemen (September 2022 to May 2023). GraphPad Prim was used to analyze the results. P-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The mean and standard deviation of age, weight, gender, residence, marital status, education levels, economic status, regular exercise, following a strict diet, and family history of diabetes revealed significant differences between DM and HC groups (P 〈 0.0001, P = 0001, P = 0.0027, P = 0.0002, P 〈 0.0001, P 〈 0.0001, P = 0.0002, P = 0.0011, P 〈 0.0001 and P = 0.0001, respectively). FBS results, systolic and diastolic BP, MCV, WBCs, monocytes, eosinophils, and platelets displayed significant differences between both groups (P 〈 0.0001, P 〈 0.0001 and P = 0.0404, P = 0.0191, P 〈 0.0001, P = 0.0253, P 〈 0.0001, and P = 0.0229, respectively). ESR exhibited statistical significance (P 〈 0.0001), while CRP displayed no significance. A Pearson's correlation showed that weight, Hb, RBCs, PCV, and WBCs were statistically negatively correlated with FBS whereas other hematological indices showed no correlation with FBS. In conclusion, DM patients had relatively higher levels of MCV, WBCs, eosinophils, platelets and ESR than the control group.

Abstract: Conducting polymer nanocomposites are the forthcoming materials for developing technologies, as they possess a combination of unique properties of their components. This study used the sol-gel technique to prepare and fabricate nanocomposite of polyaniline (PANI), with nanomaterial (TiO2), doped by tin (Sn+2) (PANI/Sn+2/TiO2). Novel nanocomposites were prepared in different ratios (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) of weight for the nanomaterial (Sn+2/TiO2) to the polymer (PANI). The prepared nanocomposites were characterized with several techniques including Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometer, Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis.) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). This research has presented the role of nanomaterial and described the easy process of their homogenous distribution in the (PANI/Sn+2/TiO2) nanocomposites. The electrical conductivity of the prepared materials was examined and confirmed by electrical conductivity. The combination of Sn+2/TiO2 in the PANI matrix will be very valuable for the improvement of the physical and chemical properties of the polymer's conductivity.

Abstract: Damage to used cooking oil is caused by hydrolysis and oxidation processes, these reactions are formed due to the use of oil many times. In terms of physical damage occurred in the smell and color (brown oil, cloudy to blackish), chemical changes in the form of acid numbers and peroxide numbers are quite high. This study aims to determine (1) there is an effect of variations in the mass of the onion peel adsorbent on the physical properties of used cooking oil; (2) there is an effect of mass variation of onion peel adsorbent on the physical properties of used cooking oil; and (3) physicochemical properties of used cooking oil purified according to SNI 3741:2013. The research method uses an experimental research type with a quantitative approach. The study design used a completely randomized design (CRD). The data analysis technique used One Way ANOVA. The test parameters include odor test, color test, acid number test and peroxide number test. The adsorption temperature was constant at 70°C for 30 minutes, the mass variations of the onion peel adsorbent were 0 g (without onion skin), 5 g, 10 g, 15 g, and 20 g in 100 ml of used cooking oil. The results of the study of physical properties (smell and color), variations of 5 gr, 10 gr 15 gr and 20 gr produced "normal" odors, while variations of 10 gr, 15 gr and 20 gr color produced "normal". Furthermore, the chemical properties showed a decrease in the acid number after the purification process, the largest variation in the decrease in the acid number was in the 20 gr treatment as much as 74.56%, the largest decrease in the peroxide value in the 20 gr treatment as much as 90.63%.

Abstract: Research on phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity testing of the ethanol extract of buni leaves (Antidesma bunius L. Spreng) has been carried out. This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds contained in buni leaf plants to see the activity of the ethanol extract of buni leaves using the DPPH method. Buni leaves were extracted in 96% ethanol by maceration method, then evaporated using a rotary evaporator. The results of thick extract were screened for phytochemicals such as phenolics, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids using a qualitative color test method and carrying out antioxidant activity using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with Vitamin C as a comparison. The results showed that the ethanol extract of buni leaves contained phenolic compounds, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids as well as IC50 Vitamin C of 5.22 ppm which is classified as a very strong antioxidant, while the IC50 of buni leaves ethanol extract is lower at 61, 8 ppm which is classified as a strong antioxidant

Abstract: 2-benzothiazolyl acrylamide (BTA) monomer was synthesized by reacting of 2-aminobenzothiazole with acryloyl chloride. Homo- and copolymerization of this monomer with α-methylstyrene (MSt) and methyl acrylate (MA) was carried out in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) solution. The prepared homo-and copolymers were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and their thermal stability was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The composition of copolymers and the reactivity coefficients (r1, r2) were determined on the basis of sulfur analysis using linearization methods proposed by Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tudos and the Mayo-Lewis intersection method. The derived (r1, r2) for BTA-co-MSt and BTA-co-MA are: (0.197, 0.230) and (0.294, 4.314), respectively. The microstructure of the copolymers and the distribution of the monomer sequences in the copolymers were calculated statistically, the results obtained are consistent with the values (r1, r2). BTA with MSt form alternative copolymer whilst BTA-co-MA tends to be block with MA.
