Abstract:
To provide a reliable electrophysiological index related to orienting of attention, we conducted a meta‐analysis on the N200 posterior‐contralateral (N2pc) and the results do not support the “anger advantage effect” for the N2pc component. Instead, at the early attention stage, there was no significant difference in the N2pc elicited by happy/angry faces. As such, possible adaptive advantages of biases in orienting toward both angry and happy expressions warrant consideration in revisions of related theory.
