    Abstract: Treatment of [( η 6 - p -cymene)RuCl 2 ] 2 with one equivalent of chlorodiphenylphosphine in tetrahydrofuran at reflux afforded a neutral complex [( η 6 - p -cymene)RuCl 2 ( κ 1 - P -PPh 2 OH)] ( 1 ). Similarly, the reaction of [Ru(bpy) 2 Cl 2 ·2H 2 O] (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and chlorodiphenylphosphine in methanol gave a cationic complex [Ru(bpy) 2 Cl( κ 1 - P -PPh 2 OCH 3 )](PF 6 ) ( 2 ), while treatment of [RuCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 3 ] with [2-(C 5 H 4 N)CH=N(CH 2 ) 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 ] ( L1 ) in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature afforded a ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(PPh 3 )Cl 2 ( κ 3 - N , N , N - L1 )] ( 3 ). Interaction of the chloro-bridged complex [Ru(CO) 2 Cl 2 ] n with one equivalent of [Ph 2 P( o -C 6 H 4 )CH=N(CH 2 ) 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 ] ( L2 ) led to the isolation of [Ru(CO)Cl 2 ( κ 3 - P , N , N - L2 )] ( 4 ). The molecular structures of the ruthenium(II) complexes 1 – 4 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The properties of the ruthenium(II) complex 4 as a hydrogenation catalyst for acetophenone were also tested.

    Abstract: A pair of zinc(II)-based one-dimensional (1D) homologous coordination polymers, [Zn(Hdba) 2 (bib)] n ( 1 ) and [Zn(Hdba) 2 (bmib)] n ( 2 ), where H 2 dba = 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, bib = 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene, and bmib = 1,4-bis(2-methyl-1 H -imidazol-1-yl)benzene were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized through infrared spectroscopy (IR), elemental and thermal analysis (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analyses. The results revealed that 1 and 2 have the same zigzag infinite chain framework through the partially deprotonated Hdba – monodentate linkage and with μ 2 -bib bridging the Zn(II) atoms in 1 , and with μ 2 -bmib bridges for the Zn(II) atoms in 2 . For both  1 and 2 , each zinc atom has a slightly twisted tetrahedral configuration with a N 2 O 2 donor set. These chains of 1 and 2 are further connected into three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular structures through O–H···O, C–H···O hydrogen bonds and π···π, C–H···π stacking interactions for 1 , and O–H···O, C–H···O hydrogen bonds for 2 . Topologically, the 3D hydrogen-bonded organic framework or the 2D π-stacking structure of 1 can be simplified as a 4-connected dia Diamond type with a Schläfli symbol {6 6 }, or as a 4-connected sql type with a Schläfli symbol {4 4 ·6 2 } and a Shubnikov tetragonal plane net. The thermal stability and the solid-state fluorescence properties of 1 and 2 were investigated.

    Abstract: A new cadmium(II)-based coordination polymer [Cd 3 (FcCOO) 6 (4,4′-bipy)(H 2 O) 2 ] n (FcCOO = ferrocenecarboxylato and 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results of a crystal structural analysis has revealed that the title compound consists of two crystallographically unique Cd II centers, one in a general position with a five-coordinated and one on an inversion center with a six-coordinated environment. The Cd II centers are connected by FcCOO − units to form a metal carboxylate oxygen chain extending parallel to the [100] direction while the 4,4′-bipy ligands further act as bridging linkers of the Cd II centers resulting in a layered polymer. In addition, an X-ray powder diffraction and thermal gravimetric analysis and a cyclo-voltammetric characterization of the complex have also been carried out.

    Abstract: Two coordination polymers (CPs), [Mn(bipmo)(pbtda)(H 2 O)] n ( 1 ), {[Cd(bipmo)(btda)]·2(H 2 O)]} n ( 2 ), (bipmo = bis(4-(1 H -imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H 2 pbtda = 2-phenylbutanedioic acid, H 2 btda = butanedioic acid), were synthesized by solvothermal methods. The products have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The topological structure of 1 is based on 2-nodal nets with the Schläfli symbol {6 3 }{6 9 ·8}, while that of 2 features a system with a sixfold penetration with the Schläfli symbol {6 6 }.

    Abstract: Three new lead(II) complexes containing the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, [Pb(phen) 2 (3,5-DNB) 2 ] ( 1 ), [Pb(phen) 2 (3,5-DNB)(NO 3 )] 2 ·H 2 O ( 2 ), and [Pb(phen)(HCOO)(NO 3 )(H 2 O)] n ( 3 ) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, 3,5-DNB = 3,5-dinitrobenzoate anion) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexes 1 and 2 are monomeric species, whereas complex 3 is a one-dimensional polymer. In the three complexes, the ligand phen creates a number of π···π stacking interactions and hydrogen bonds, which play an important role in extending complexes 1 – 3 to supramolecular architectures. The Pb(II) ion of complexes 1 and 2 shows hemidirected geometry with noncovalent Pb···O/C tetrel bonds formed which further stabilize the supramolecular structures.

    Abstract: Condensation of 3,6-dichloropyridazine or 3,6-dichloro-4,5-dimethyl- pyridazine with 3-methyl-1 H -pyrazole or 4-methyl-1 H -pyrazole with the assistance of sodium metal in tetrahydrofuran at reflux afforded three 3,6-bis(pyrazolyl)- pyridazine-type ligands: 3,6-bis(3-methylpyrazolyl)pyridazine (L1), 3,6-bis(4-methyl- pyrazolyl)pyridazine (L2) and 4,5-dimethyl-3,6-bis(4-methylpyrazolyl)pyridazine (L3). Reactions of cis -[RuCl 2 (bpy) 2 ] · 2H 2 O (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and L1, L2 or L3 in the presence of NH 4 PF 6 produced the heteroleptic cationic ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(L1)(bpy) 2 ](PF 6 ) 2 ( 1 ), [Ru(L2)(bpy) 2 ](PF 6 ) 2 ( 2 ) and [Ru(L3)(bpy) 2 ](PF 6 ) 2 ( 3 ), respectively. The three complexes have been characterized by UV/Vis and luminescence spectroscopy. The crystal structures of 1  · EtOH, 2  · EtOH and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

    Abstract: Three new coordination complexes [Zn(btec) 0.5 (L 1 ) 0.5 (H 2 O)] n ( 1 ), [Ni(H 2 btec)(L 1 )(H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 2 ), and {[Ni(btec) 0.5 (L 2 )(H 2 O) 3 ]·2H 2 O} n ( 3 ) [H 4 btec = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid), L 1 = N , N ′-bis(3-pyridyl)adipamide, L 2  = N , N ′-bis(3-pyridyl)octanediamide] have been obtained under hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis has revealed that complex 1 has a layer structure based on [Zn(btec) 0.5 ] n ribbons and the μ 2 -bridging ligands L 1 . Complex 2 possesses a layered framework constructed by [Ni(H 2 btec)] n linear chains and [Ni(L 1 )] n wave-like chains. Complex 3 forms layers based on [Ni(L 2 )] n helical chains and μ 2 -bridging L 2 ligands, representing an interesting 4-fold interpenetrating 2D braided framework. The three different 2D frameworks exhibit 3,4-connected {4.6 2 } 2 {4 2 .6 2 .8 2 } topology for 1 , 4-connected {4 4 .6 2 } topology for 2 and 3-connected {6 3 } topology for 3 . Their adjacent layers are further linked by hydrogen bonding interactions to generate 3D supramolecular structures. The differences in the nature of both the metal ions and the organic ligands lead to various coordination modes in the final structures. The photocatalytic activities and the fluorescence properties of complexes 1 – 3 were investigated.

It has been characterized by elemental analyses, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The topological structure of 1 consists of uninodal dia nets with two-fold penetration. The thermal stability and the luminescence properties of complex 1 were investigated.

    Abstract: Co-crystallization of C -propyl-pyrogallol[4]arene (PgC3) with 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) in ethanol afforded a multi -component complex (PgC3) · 3(bpy) ·(EtOH) ( 1 ) that consists of a one-dimensional brick-wall framework, which was formed by four pyrogallol[4]arene molecules and two juxtaposed bpy molecules, entrapping two other bpy molecules as guests within each cavity. Heating a mixture of PgC3 and trans -1,2-bis-(4-pyridyl)ethylene (bpe) in an ethanol-water mixed solvent allowed the isolation of a multi -component complex (PgC3) ·(bpe) · 2(EtOH) ·(H 2 O) ( 2 ), which has a two-dimensional wave-like polymer structure with the bpe molecules embedded in the wave trough between two PgC3 molecules. Single-crystal X-ray crystallography was utilized to investigate the hydrogen bonding networks of the multi -component complexes 1 and 2 .
