Description / Table of Contents: 2-Pyridylphosphanes, III. Synthesis and an X-ray Diffraction Analysis of Copper(1) and Silver(1) Chloride ComplexesThe phenyl-/(2-pyridyl)-phosphanes (2-C5H4N)nP(C6H5)3-n, n = 1-3, (1a-c) form colourless 1 : 1 complexes 2a - c or 3a - c with CuCl or AgCl, respectively. The completely insoluble tripyridylphosphane complexes are probably coordination polymers, but the monopyridylphosphane adducts are oligomers. Their 31P NMR spectra indicate equivalent phosphane groups. - The structure of the chloro[diphenyl(2-pyridyl)phosphane]silver(I) has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In this tetrameric complex (3a) the silver and chlorine atoms were shown to form a distorted cube, as it has also been found in the analogous triphenylphosphane complex. The (2-C5H4N)P(C6H5)2 ligand is attached to the silver atom only through the phosphorus atom, and the nitrogen donor centers are not engaged in bonding. Phenyl and pyridyl rings cannot be distinguished in the diffraction analysis (R = 0.075, Rw = 0.071).
Notes: Die Phenyl-/(2-pyridyl)-phosphane (2-C5H4N)nP(C6H5)3-n, n = 1-3, (1a-c) bilden mit CuCl oder AgCl farblose 1 : 1-Komplexe 2a-c bzw. 3a-c.
